Seems our recent craze for Lexus is not being matched by commensurate supply for replacement parts especially if there are no Toyota alternatives. This has been my major worry buying the GS and IS range of Lexus. N1.8m for an engine? Chi m! Man gotta revert to Toyota Corolla and Honda Accord.

But i hope it encourages the owner to look for qualified mechanics even if it costs more. Well done Poster!

I have no reason to worry about engine replacement in any car I'm buying.
This issue is the fault of the owner and bad maintenance.

Engine bought by multiautolab from our international part supliers was from a Lexus GS350 2011 with 90,000 km covered so far. Car we are working on is a Lexus is350 2006. Engine bought came with its engine wire harness. We still retained the engine wire bought with the engine. It was discovered both harness were not the same so we had to take it out and reuse old engine harness.

Same engine. Different engine harness. Different ECU so engine wire harness cannot be interchanged
