Ghanaian actress, Yvonne Nelson has said that, 90 per cent of people are either trying to impress their followers or get followers. It’s not only in Ghana but everywhere.

The actress who sat for an interview with Adom News’ Sandra Akapko, stated that 90% of people on social media live fake lives.

She also added that the flashy lifestyle people portray on social media are all fake, added that it’s not only in Ghana but everywhere. Yvonne Nelson added that people who put themselves on pressure luxuries of other people are only worrying themselves unnecessarily, as 90% of people on social media live fake lives.

She said;

“90 per cent of people are either trying to impress their followers or get followers. It’s not only in Ghana but everywhere”.

“You can see someone on social media in a private jet but the person may be a musician shooting a music video or the plane may not be moving, but people see it and think about all the luxuries they don’t have.

“It’s all a lie, social media is all about the fake life so people shouldn’t follow all the glitz and glam on social media,” she stated.

This is coming weeks after the Ghanaian actress promised never to date Nigerian men. Yvonne Nelson who talked about her failed relationship with Nigerian singer Iyanya and her breakup with her baby daddy, Jamie Roberts, disclosed that her post about being single and searching was ignored because people thought she was joking.

“You mean my post? No! No! No one reached out to me…maybe they don’t believe me. It is what it is. I am looking for one. In fact get me one in Ghana” she said.

Moving on from the disclosure, Yvonne Nelson who promised never to date a Nigerian man said:

“As for Nigerian men I am done,”.

Nigeria 2019 Presidential Election: Live Updates, Results And Situation Report

Today, 23 February 2019 Nigerians would vote in the sixth presidential and national assembly elections since the country’s return to democracy in 1999.

Nigerians are expected to choose from 72 Presidential candidates and 6584 National Assembly candidates.

91 political parties are participating in the 2019 general elections, however, some would not be fielding candidate for the position of the president.

According to the figures recently released by INEC, there are currently 84,004,084 registered voters compared to 67,422,005 in the 2015 elections.

In the build-up to the elections, Incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari of the All Progressives Congress and Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party have popped up clearly as top contenders for the office of the president.

Desmond Elliott Commissions Public Toilet For His Constituency (Photos)

Nollywood star cum Politician, Desmond Olusola Elliott, who represents the people of Surulere constituency at the Lagos State House of Assembly, has commissioned a public toilet for his constituency.

Naija News reports that the public Biofil toilet which will convert waste to manure was commissioned on Wednesday, February 20. The actor shared the news on Instagram on Thursday, February 21.

In 10 years, Amara Kanu can’t achieve what I have achieved just in January – Laura Ikeji.

Its been a field day for Laura Ikeji since a fan asked her why she doesn’t relate with her sister-in-Law, Amara Kanu.

The fashionista who is married to Nigerian football legend, Kanu Nwankwo’s younger brother, Ogbonna, had given an ambiguous answer at the time.

She stated that, “We are not friend.”



However, another fan took up the matter, going a step further to compare Laura to Kanu’s wife.

The fan spelt out Amara’s attributes, in which areas she found Laura lacking, noting that those were the reasons why the sisters-in-law couldn’t be friends.



She said, “Of course she can’t be friends with you na, she is classy while you are a wannabe, she is calm and collected while you are loud, she is beautiful while you are far from it, her husband is the main deal while your husband will keep stealing her children’s ticket to go and watch match, so of course you are not friends and can never be.

In response to this fan, Laura still chose to take the high road with her reply, saying, “What I have achieved just in January by working my butts off, both you and her cannot achieve in 10 years but hey…”



In earlier reports, we revealed that the sisters-in-Law have neither publicly nor privately, related with each other.

The situation made even more noticeable after Laura and Ogbonna welcomed their first son in 2017, and Amara neither acknowledged nor congratulated the couple.



The messy situation comes weeks after Amara called out Ogbonna for allegedly trying to destroy her family and stealing her sons Leeds game tickets.

Since the incident, Kanu and Amara have unfollowed each other on Instagram.

Ex Nigerian President Jonathan Advices Nigerians – Reject Bribe And Vote Your Conscience

Ex-President Goodluck Jonathan on Monday urged Nigerians to reject financial inducements when voting, urging them to embrace peace and shun violence ahead of the rescheduled general elections.

Jonathan, who was in Bayelsa, his home state at the weekend for the polls earlier scheduled for February 16 and March 2 but postponed by one week to February 23 and March 9, called on Nigerians to remain peaceful.

Jonathan spoke at a meeting with Niger Delta Youth Leaders on Monday in Yenagoa, where he urged the electorate to shun vote buying, but to instead vote according to their conscience.

“Use of money to induce voters has become very prevalent in Nigeria. It is more pronounced here than in many African countries I have been to monitor elections; and it is unhealthy for our development.

“My NGO is, however, working on advocacy against it.

“Politics should be about the people; but anyone who wants to make quick money should go into business and quit politics, which is all about service to the people.

“People should vote according to the dictates of their conscience and not be induced by money.

“I have said it several times that no ambition should be worth spilling of the blood of any Nigerian.

“Peace is fundamental to economic development and the reports of insecurity and violence scares away investors.

“Anytime someone is killed either by security agencies or by any other exra judicial means, it affects the reputation of the country adversely and that is why peace building is very essential, especially with the youth.

“Our youths are critical in our democracy because the future belongs to them, so, my advise is that we should be patient and shun violence in the coming elections,”Jonathan said.

Earlier, Mr Kenedy Tonjo-West, a Niger Delta Youth leader, said that representatives of Niger Delta youths from across the region were in Bayelsa to applaud the former President for his efforts at peace building.

He said that his exemplary leadership style of politics without violence and bitterness was an inspiration to Niger Delta youths.

West, who is also a Senior Special Adviser on Niger Delta Youth matters to the Bayelsa Governor, Seriake Dickson, noted that Jonathan’s influence on the youth of the region was responsible for the prevailing peace in the region.

He said that youths from the region were in Bayelsa to seek counsel from the former President following the shift in election date.

Mr Peretubo Oweilaemi, President of Ijaw Youth Council, said that youths from the Niger Delta region remained proud of the former President, who relinquished power in the interest of peace and development of Nigeria.

“The emphasis of our amiable leader, Dr Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, on peace and peace building is very commendable, in spite of his political persuasion, he has chosen to always advocate peace and we the youth are learning from him.

“We have seen the region, which is very crucial to the country’s economy grow in peace because you advocate and preach peace all the time since you left office as President,” Oweilaemi said.

NAN reports that leaders of Non-Violent Youth groups including: Niger Delta Youths Coalition for Peace and Progress, Ex-Militant Leaders, who embraced the Presidential Amnesty programmes, among others were at the meeting.

There is a plan to bomb the INEC headquarters in Abuja- Timi Frank alleges

A former Deputy National Publicity Secretary of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Timi Frank has alleged that three serving ministers, two former Governors, three businessmen want to bomb INEC Headquarters.

In a statement made available to journalists on Monday, he noted that the plan is being organized by those who are “bent on destroying democracy in Nigeria at all cost, even if it amounts to total breakdown of law and order, or the loss of lives in achieving their agenda”.

His words: “Top among the planners includes three serving Ministers from the Niger Delta, two former governors and three businessmen all within the ruling party and benefiting from its largesse.

“Following the postponement of the February 16th polls and realizing that the plan for staggered elections may have been busted, these desperate political crooks are at it again, devising yet another grand plan to carry out this evil plot against the Nigerian people.

“Nigerians may recall the mysterious arson on INEC facilities and buildings all around the country happening simultaneously days before the elections.

“Starting off with the burning of the INEC office in Qua’an Pan, Plateau State, to the burning of card readers in Anambra State, to the burning of INEC materials in 5 buses at Akwa Ibom and other INEC facilities nationwide, it will be safe therefore to note that these events are not a coincidence, but rather a grand plot to disenfranchise the opposition strongholds which is currently underway.”

Frank also alleged that there were plans to seek the services of militants in the Niger Delta region, noting that the militants would have the backing of the Nigerian Army.

“Having realised that the grand scheme of rigging the polls may have been busted by the INEC chairman giving to the postponement of the elections, these desperadoes are bent on doing everything possible in achieving their aim, including the truncating of our hard-earned democracy for selfish gains.

We are also aware that the services of some Niger Delta militants are being sought after to carry out this dastardly act, even at a time when the region is being faced with its worst times under the current administration.

“These militants are being promised the backing of the military authorities as well as being rewarded handsomely should they succeed in carrying out these attacks. I am, therefore, urging all true sons of the Niger Delta to desist forthwith from allowing themselves to be used by these agents of darkness, as no true son of the region will volunteer for such doom, irrespective of any pecuniary gains.

“I would like to thank our foreign partners (EU, UK, US, ECOWAS monitoring group) on the electoral roles already carried out in Nigeria and also urge the US, UK and the EU to continue with its good works and to further beam its satellite on Nigeria in the wake of this grave revelation at a time when the country prepares for its general election.

“The desperation by these individuals for their paymasters is as deadly as treason committed on the Nigerian nation. Furthermore if this plot is true, then we may be faced with the likely scenario of the ‘body bags’ as suggested by a chieftain of the ruling party on all who may be present at the INEC office including the foreign observers.”

Frank urged security agencies to be at alert around the INEC headquarters and appealed to the INEC chairman to remain undeterred in the discharge of his duty.

“We are aware of the happenings in INEC including the role to be played by Amina Zakari, who is now in charge of Collation and RACTEC unit under the IT Department. Let it be known that any move to frustrate the wishes of Nigerians will be resisted by all peace loving Nigerians,” he added.

Seun Kuti, the Afrobeat singer, and son of the late legend, Fela has been listed as one of the performers at the 61st Grammy Awards.

Kuti, who was nominated for Best World Music Album will perform with Malian singer/songwriter, Fatoumata Diawara, at the award’s Premiere Ceremony on February 10.

This was contained in a statement on the Grammys’ website, published on Thursday.

The statement reads: “The 61st Grammy Awards will start off with sizzle as the lineup for the Grammy Awards Premiere Ceremony has been revealed, led by Mr. Boombastic himself, Grammy winner and current nominee, Shaggy as host.

“The prelude to music’s biggest night will also feature performances by current nominated singer/songwriter Snatam Kaur, trumpeter Craig Morris and dance duo Sofi Tukker.

“Nigerian Afrobeat artist, Seun Kuti and Malian singer/songwriter Fatoumata Diawara will also perform together, and Ángela Aguilar, Aida Cuevas, and Natalia Lafourcade will unite for the first time ever to perform “La Llorona,” a Mexican folkloric classic all three artists have recorded during their career.

“All of the premiere ceremony performers and the host are nominated this year, as are most of the presenters. Kuti & Egypt 80 are nominated for Best World Music Album for ‘Black Times.’”

Rapper, Naeto C and his wife, Nicole, had the baptism of their second daughter, Naeso, on Friday February 1st which was also Nicole’s 31st birthday.

Popular social media comedian, Omo Ibadan, went viral on the Internet recently when she pleaded for her future husband to come to her on time. With her plea, many took it to mean that she was love starved. In a chat with Sunday Scoop, however, she revealed that she was not in short supply of marriage proposals.

She said, “Even before that post, I have been getting many marriage proposals – both serious and unserious ones. However, I want a man that appreciates me as a woman and would always support what I do. The most important thing is that she should love what I do. I am not really the choosy type; as long as I like you, that’s fine. I also want someone that has a vision. In terms of physical qualities, I really cannot tell. If I say I want a dark-skinned guy (which is actually my preference) and I fall in love with someone who isn’t that way, what do I do?”

Maintaining that she cannot sacrifice her career for any man, Omo Ibadan said, “My future first! If I like you and you don’t like what I do, maybe we just have to stop whatever we are doing. I cannot even be attracted to someone that does not like what I do.”

The comedian also disagreed with insinuations that social media comedians don’t last long professionally. She stated, “It’s not true that social media comedians have a short professional lifespan. Look at someone like Arole, he started from social media and has taken his craft beyond that to being a filmmaker. If you know how to make use of your platform and network, you will definitely advance. If people say that they no longer see you on Instagram, maybe they should check other platforms.

“I have plans to make my own movie and go back to my music career (which is actually what I started with). I also plan to have shows and other things. I have a song that will be coming out soon. It’s an afropop love song.”

Lending words of advice to people who are battling with depression, she said, “There are times that we all feel like we are not doing well. There are times we all feel like we’re failing and are not doing the right things. That is normal. It is only a sign that there are still many other things that can be done. It’s better not to concentrate on what you think is not working out, but look for the solution. I don’t think taking one’s life is the best. There are several people who look up to you no matter your level.”

wizkid has become the first singer to sell out the 20k capacity Eko Atlantic City ground when he held his Made In Lagos concert yesterday.

Recall that the singer few days ago held his VIP Experience concert in Eko Convention Centre where he sold out the 6k capacity hall.

The singer also recently sold 20k tickets to people in the UK, 30k in Abidjan and 40k Benin Republic.

Mr 2kay refuses to release DNA result of child with Gifty


The controversies over the identity of the father of the child of former Big Brother Naija contestant, Gifty Powers’ child, Alisha, will linger for a long period as the man at the center of it all, Mr 2kay has said he would not release result of the DNA conducted to unravel the true father of the child. The Punch recalls that Gifty recently posted a picture of the child with a man on social media. She stated that the guy in the picture was the true father of her child.

However, Mr 2kay responded shortly after that with a post in which he insinuated that a DNA test had been carried out on the child and the results could not be wrong. He wrote, “DNA too true to tell a lie, way forward”.

This was after he had felicitated Alisha on his Instagram page. “Happy birthday to my sunshine. Alisha is one today. Daddy loves you so much. May God keep protecting you and showering his blessings on you endlessly. My little princess and you look so much like your big brother,” he wrote.

In an exclusive chat with Sunday Scoop, “Gifty maintained that 2kay isn’t the father of her child. She said, “Tell him to post the proof (of the DNA test) on his Instagram page. I know what is happening. 2kay just wants a stupid publicity stunt.”

However, Mr 2kay insisted to Sunday Scoop that he wouldn’t release any proof. He said, “I am not saying anything about this issue again. You can call Gifty and listen to whatever she has to say.” When he was informed that we had spoken with Gifty, he said, “Okay. I’m not discussing anything more about that. I am an adult and nobody can force words out of my mouth.”

To further lay credence to Mr 2kay’s earlier claims to Alisha’s paternity, a source who used to work closely with him stated unequivocally that Mr 2kay was the father of the child. The source said, “Gifty is lying; Mr 2kay is the father of her child. The baby was born on December 17, 2017. I recall that we were in Port Harcourt then when she called to inform him that she had been delivered of the baby. Mr 2kay had been responsible for the upkeep of that child and I was even the one that used to deliver items such as baby food, diapers and clothes to her for the baby. On his last trip to the UK, he still bought some things for her”

Mercy Aigbe reveals where she makes her millions from, asides acting

Nollywood actress, Mercy Aigbe has had a good year what with her feature in bigger movie projects, the most recent being the Uche Jombo-produced ‘Heaven on my mind’.

Besides acting and her fashion business, Aigbe has been accused of relationships with top Nigerian politicians who may have funded her recently acquired mansion and Prado Jeep.

In this chat with Punch Newspaper, the actress clears the air on her source of income stating that she has numerous streams of income that are not known to the public. Aigbe said, “What drives me is the urge to succeed. I always want to be successful with whatever I do. I also have passion for acting and fashion, which are the things I do. People who follow me on social media can attest to the fact that I’m a very trendy person. Apart from acting, I have other streams of income. I am not a lazy person and I believe that I have not even achieved half of my dreams”

When asked about the increase in the number of homegrown movies that make it to the cinemas, she said, “Yoruba movies going to the cinemas is a welcome development and we are happy about it. Cinema culture is not new in Nigeria; I would rather say it has been revived. I recall that when we were younger, we used to go and watch movies. I am happy that people are embracing cinema culture now because it is another avenue for filmmakers like me to make money from our works.”

She added, “Both home videos and cinemas all bring in money; I wouldn’t say that one has the upper hand. I don’t agree that movies in cinemas have a short lifespan. As long as people demand your film, it will keep showing. DVDs are cheap while cinema tickets are costlier. We can also sell our movies to online TV channels,”

Mercy Aigbe also brought attention to the fact that her son has developed an interest in acting and she is willing to support him all the way.

Logo Benz: Olamide justifies money rituals, says, ‘Don’t box musicians’



Musician Olamide has justified the lyrics of his latest collabo song with Lil Kesh, titled Logo Benz.

In the song, the two artistes threaten to do money rituals if Jesus and Allah hesitate to make them rich. They sing: “I dey pray to Jesu, ‘K’owo wo le o! If money no enter, I go do blood money o!’ I dey pray to Allah, ‘K’owo wo le o! If money no enter, I go do blood money o!’”

Listeners have since criticised the lyrics, saying it encourages money rituals.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle, @olamide_YBNL on Friday, Olamide says the song reflects the desperation to make money at all costs, rather than justifying the same.

Lala Akindoju Reacts to Video of Men Sexualising 6 Year Old Girls

Yesterday, social media went ago over video of Rave TV presenter, Lolo, trying to educate two men who are of the opinion that five year old girls on shorts are sexually attractive.

Among the many reactions that have trailed the video, actress, Lala Akindoju also places as one of those condemning the men’s thought processes.
