It's about 5 degrees celcius which is pretty cold and worse when you'e coming from the tropics where it's circa 30 degrees celcius.

Nothing wrong with wearing layers to stem the cold, it's the practical thing to do. Do you not wear a vest and pullover under your coat when you go out?
