2011: AC Leaders Plot To Capture Power In South-south by kosovo(m): 7:51pm On Dec 07, 2009
Leaders of the Action Congress (AC) in Bayelsa State met at the weekend to review strategies to be adopted during the 2011 elections.

They also deliberated on the party's bid to wrest power from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the South-South states and warned that AC's performance in future elections in the region will depend on the people and unity of its leaders.

The meeting, attended by the 2007 governorship candidate of the party, Prince Ebitimi Angbare, the President, Ijaw National Congress (INC), Lagos chapter, Arch. Amagbe Denzel Kentebe, one-time governorship running mate in the party, Enock Ikelemor, former House of Representatives member and 2007 senatorial candidate of the party, Ebikekeme Ere and Women Leader, Madam Maria Ebikale, concluded that the future of the party in the South-South depend on the outcome of 2011 elections.
In his speech at the event held in Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, the party’s Vice Chairman  in the South-South, Prince Autin Eweka, said that although the assignment before the AC is massive, “the 12 years of misrule by the PDP in some states of the South-South, including Bayelsa, may work in favour of the party and provoke the needed change for the people of the region.”

Eweka said that the party's national officers are working on winning strategies and urged its state chapters to remain steadfast.

He noted that the party's convention in Lagos on December 12 will be another avenue to re-strategise and move forward in political victory.

Acting chairman of the party in the state, Miriki Ebikibina, said that despite the challenges facing AC, it has raised the people's consciousness to the failures and under-performance of the PDP.
