Whatsapp Introduces Click-to-chat: Send A Message From Your Browser by rookidmart: 10:50pm On Feb 24, 2017
WhatsApp's Click to Chat feature allows you to begin a chat with someone without having their phone number saved in your phone's address book. As long as you know this person’s phone number, you can create a link that will allow you to start a chat with them. By clicking the link, a chat with the person automatically opens. Click to Chat works on both your phone and WhatsApp Web.

To create your own link, use
https:///send?phone=
followed by the person's full phone number in international format. Omit any zeroes, brackets or dashes when adding the phone number in international format.

For example if you want to send a message to someone whose number is 08012345678 which is a Nigerian number. Just delete the first zero put 234 in front of the other numbers

Use:
https:///send?phone=234812345678

Don't use: https:///send?phone=+2348012345678

To create your own link with a pre-filled message that will automatically appear in the text field of a chat, use
https:///send?phone=whatsappphonenumber&text=urlencodedtext
where whatsappphonenumber is a full phone number in international format and urlencodedtext is the URL-encoded pre-filled message.

Example: https:///send?phone=234812345678&text=Welcome%20to%20Nairaland

URL encoding works like this: Write the message together without spaces, spaces are represented by the character %20. So if you want to insert a space just use %20

So if you want to send "I am using WhatsApp" to the number 08012345678 then do this:
https:///send?phone=234812345678&text=I%20am%20using%20Whatsapp

To create a link with just a pre-filled message, use
https:///send?text=urlencodedtext

To write: "How are you?" write::
https:///send?text=How%20are%20you?

After clicking on the link, you will be shown a list of contacts you can send your message to.

Fun fact: you can write a message to yourself and chat with yourself! Just insert your WhatsApp number in there space for the number. Freaky!
