If that filing station is where your daily bread comes from, you would not be saying what you are saying!
Those buildings were built with approval, permission and authority of the meaningful businesses. Those filling now.

u don't get it,Lasg will compesate and give them another land to build their stations if they insist and take the matter to court which I think that's what will happen,The whole things is to make life easier for its citizen lasg will win that case take it anywhere in the world.please reason critically and analytically before you comment on a thread

This is NOT a wise move.
1. Those filling stations are private properties of people/organizations. It makes no sense to destroy businesses because you want to build motor parks. Some people would lose their jobs because of this. This would also affect Mr Biggs
2. From experience, motor parks that are built very close to junctions/roundabouts end up creating more traffic and confusion.

3. If the governor is not being lazy, he should look for other locations where he can build motor parks. After they have sold all the lands to themselves, they are now looking for how to takeaway lands from private businesses in order to develop the state. The last govt. under Fashola destroyed people's shops and foolishly used the spaces to plant flowers.

4. They should look for land to build more motor parks and leave private businesses alone

There is something called overriding public interest. It supercedes private business.

My headache exactly, those are the major filling stations we rely on for 24/7 service on the mainland, if Lagos truly wants a Night economy how do we achieve that without fuel to drive it?... those stations can't just go like that

Apart from that, most of the vehicles that buy fuel at Maryland(on both sides) will have to move to Ikorodu road in search of fuel, especially the ones on the service lane close to the junction, e.g. Conoil and Oando. This will worsen the traffic situation along that corridor.

Again, there are many available spaces that can be converted to bus stops/parks without disturbing people's business.
Very soon, the whole Maryland junction will become a danger zone at night. Bus stops are usually dens of criminals at night

The 'capable governor' of Lagos state is really showing that he's light years ahead of other governors in Nigeria.

Learn from experience and reality.
Give me a single motor-park / bus-stop in Lagos that is not a haven for criminals at night!
The whole of Maryland junction will be turned into something else after this shallow decision..
Let them go to Ojuelegba and create a befitting bus-stop/motor park there and leave Maryland alone!

Ambode converts Mobil, Oando filling stations to bus terminal

Governor Akinwunmi Ambode of Lagos State yesterday said it would convert the popular Mobil and Oando filling stations at Maryland Bus Stop on Ikorodu road to bus terminal as part of strategies to ease transportation challenges in the state.

There are too many illiterates in the state of excellence.
No surprise though seeing the terrible condition of schools after almost 18 years of progreTHIEF administrations Tinubu/Fashola/Ambode despite humongous IGR and gigantic budgets.
Not forgetting the light rail they have been struggling to build forever after taking $1 billion World Bank loan. angry shocked
Addis Ababa completed a similar light rail in three years.
Anyone praising these crooks needs to see a psychiatrist.

HungerBAD:
At a time when knowledge acquisition in other climes is getting increasingly sophisticated, the same cannot be said to be the case in most parts of the country.

While the much-touted leaders of tomorrow in some states attend classes in ad-hoc environments including under trees, unsafe environment and sundry locations, Lagos State, many say should never be found in the company of such needy states.

But that is not the case. As a matter of fact, students in some schools in the state are taught while sitting on bare floors, while classrooms in some schools across the state are without roof, sundry fittings and devoid of requisite learning aides

Oshodi Nursery and Primary School, Oshodi, which has been in deplorable condition for a very long time is a classic example of this sad story.Located only a few kilometres away from Bolade Bus Stop, along Oshodi/Agege Motor Road, the school, which has up to four buildings within the premises, sees pupils scampering for safety anytime it rains, even as the learning process also has to be halted at such times.
This explains why parents and concerned residents of the area are urging the state government to come to their aid, by rehabilitating the school, and providing an enabling environment for the pupils to learn, in consonant with their rights to attend school in conducive environments.

The pathetic condition of the school first attracted the attention of The Guardian Newspaper, which carried a report to that effect in The Guardian on Sunday edition of February 7th, 2016. Ever since that publication, nothing has been done to improve the fortunes of the school.

But sir,i remember u writing somewhere either on your facebook page or nairaland that a major filling station on the Lekki Ajah axis should try to lobby the Lagos state govt in order for it not to have their filling station demolished as a result of road expansion or traffic decongestion. just an observation. is this not a case of double standard? I would av said maybe it's as a result of ur soft spot for that filling station, however, that same station would be affected in Maryland. am confused sir
