LADY KALE: A New Start Part.1 by maestro2000(m): 12:43pm On Mar 02, 2017
She put the signpost up and firmly plastered it to the wall of her new shop. It was to read ‘Lady Kale’. It was the way stores were named in United States of America and was unlike the stores in her country. She looked around in disgust as though the surrounding which had become home by compulsion was the whole country itself. She had finally given in to ‘mama agba’s’ constant urging to come back home and find a husband.

At forty-two, she had gotten a huge deal at different shades of men.

Going through divorce twice and being almost married four times, she had resolve within herself that she did not have ‘the good head’ for men. However, Mama Agba was very convincing that her destiny was not tied to living abroad. She had to live and work in the country according to Pastor’s prophecy because she was destined to meet her husband while on her venture.

Kale arranged the last set of milk cans on the top shelf while wondering how she was going to cope with attending to the dirty, stark, illiterates that paraded the streets. Twenty-five years in America had her making the most difficult choice of her life. Abandoning her citizenship, health insurance and other benefits she enjoined. Her attention was drawn back to reality when she saw a big, white Jeep pull up to her store. She had not notice while she was deep in thought as she dropped the last piece of baby clothing and stared in amazement as the driver stepped out.
