The new Driver's License is far much more better because of the security features therein. These features include:

1) A person's Facial and Biometric fingerprints which are digitally captured thus making it impossible for impersonation or owning multiple identities in the platform. Ever asked yourself why the Banking Industry requested for it as a means of identification when you were processing your BVN?

2) Biodata details in a Driver's License can be linked to the National Identity Card (the one being issued by National Identity Management Commission - NIMC). Furthermore, the Driver's License Data is centralized (rather than on the License which can be easily compromised) and the personal biodata therein be shared with other Security Agencies like the Police, DSS, and EFCC.

3) The history of a driver's Traffic Violation Records are also linked to the License, hence, once the driver reaches a certain number of violation points, the license is confiscated and he/she must pass through a rigorous re-evaluation process before it is released or re-issued.

4) Officially, the cost for a Driver License is N6,350. If you have never had one, you must be certified by a Driving School (as proof of your road worthiness) before you can be found eligible to apply for one.

5) To further disappoint you, it is not just Italy that recognizes the Nigerian Driver's License in Europe. Germany, Turkey, Switzerland, Poland, Spain, Austria and Sweden also recognizes and accepts the Nigerian Drivers License. On the part of Number Plates, the Federal Road Safety Commission (FRSC) introduced an Enterprise System called National Vehicle Identification System (NVIS) which is a unified system designed to automate the processes involved in the Number Plate Production and Vehicle Registration. NVIS is open to members of the public who are Vehicle Owners as well as representatives of States, Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies. The number plates have their unique security features that assists Security Agencies during various degrees of crime investigation. Those features are not for public knowledge.

In conclusion, the payment made for a Number Plate of a vehicle DOES NOT go into the pocket or bank account of Osita Chidoka but it is remitted to the Joint Tax Board of State Governments.
