Nah..It's not normal. I'm just seeing this news for the first time. All the while I had drove that way from kaduna to the east, no choppers to protect the passengers but because Abuja airport has been closed for maintenance, Abuja dwellers and Vips are now protected. It's ok, let's see how the next 3months would look like concerning this operation

You don't see them doesn't mean NAF birds haven't been there. NAF started patrolling Kaduna - Abuja Express since August last year.

Re: Photos Of Air Force Helicopters Providing Cover Over Abuja-Kaduna Highway by Nobody: 1:37pm On Mar 12, 2017
Naso dem go dey burn fuel? what they ought to do is have an emergency toll free line that can be used by the public to request for help in case of an incident on the highway. inaddition to that, there should be security operatives permanently stationed on strategic parts of the high way to swiftly engage assailants that may want to attack any vehicle. with the toll free lines in place, the helicopters can provide air cover in real time whenever they receive a call.

i am yet to understand how this thing works. after your flight to Kaduna, who will pay for your transport down to abuja?
There are buses to move passengers from Abuja to Kaduna Airports and from Kaduna to Abuja at no extra cost to the passengers

Nigeria uses MULTIPLE drones in the North East and Niger delta. Some with surveillance others with guided rockets.

Why would it be unreasonable to fly them here at half the cost

Helicopters for rapid deployment. Don't conclude if you don't know why.

1)The helicopters can provide close air support while the drones can't.

2) as the NAF uses the same air space to train its pilots undergoing primary flying training.

Truly drone can be used to monitor and send signals both day and night immediately to the control room via wifi transmitting disk installed on it. The helicopter is and should always be ready for deployment anytime just like it's been ready and done if there is any territorial perceived attack. Which in turns saves a lot of cost(s) and the helicopter can be used once in a while for surveillance, data/information gathering and also training purposes at the same time.
Everybody is just trying to make sense and give ideas which I think should be done in a responsible manner rather than been abusive just to be heard.
