Economic and Financial Crimes Commission EFCC) has uncovered N2 billion in the account of George Turner,
a former special adviser to erstwhile managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Dan Abia.

Following the discovery, operatives of the EFCC arrested Turner in Port Harcourt, Rivers State in connection with alleged possession of funds running into N2 billion, suspected to be funds siphoned from the NDDC while serving there as an adviser.

Recall that Turner, served in the NDDC between 2012 and 2015.
EFCC spokesperson, Wilson Uwujaren, who confirmed the story, noted that preliminary investigations by the EFCC threw up deposits made in Turner’s personal and company bank accounts in excess of N2billion.

Excellent work. Thumbs up EFCC.

Please can someone tell me how many kilometers of the railway from LAGOS to Ibadan this money can achieve?
Let's put it to work immediately.

In fact I have a superb economic plan for the federal government. If we discover any money the way we are doing now, there is no need making noise about it. If the person has no tangible work he does to have made such money for him, and has no good explanation on how he acquired that wealth, throw him to jail, throw that money into infrastructure immediately.

When he comes out of jail, we show him what his stolen money was used for. He would be happy.

.....
But no, we know what Federal Government does.
They throw the money into their invisible TSA, Reshare the money to the same potential thieves who are governors etc, and send EFCC after them all over again.

What a foolish system of government we have

Well he "turned" the money towards his account for personal keeping. Its high time the government embarks on wealth scrutiny, the should be able to visit everyone and let all prove how they acquired it legally. This will go a long way towards curbing every form of corruption and illegaal hustles such as yahoo boys , fraudsters and criminals

Can anyone be jailed in a democracy without being tried in court of law?

I bet that if Buhari does anything close to that, wailing zombies aka defenders of corruption will cry blue murder.

I understand your frustration with te system and the corruption level but te needfull must be done. We don't incremental project financing system. Project estimates are made and approved before commencement and new funds must go through appropriation before they are injected into an ongoing project.(supplementary funding) All monies must be remitted to the FGN account domiciled with the CBN for accountability. The system you are proposing will hardly work in a democratic system. It could work in a dictatorship but will breed corruption nd confusion in a democratic system where there are structures and processes. All the same the monies are still put in the budget of the government for the next year's budget or supplementary budget as is in the case of Nigeria. The Hon. Minister of Finance in Nigeria announced months ago how much of recovery loots have been imputed into the 2017 appropriation. That how it works. Tanks for your observation and detest for corruption. A good citizen is a blessing to a state.
