ritababe: You people just like fabricating history. First una say Oduduwa is Elekaderan or whatever. Abeg when did his name change to Oduduwa?? Was it before or after this your Eleke whatever was banished? You people also keep changing the dates of the so-called banishment of your Eleke-whatever (that's what happens when you have to lie to cover up an earlier one, you just have to keep coming up with more lies!). Some even claim he founded the Gelegele village under contention. Confusion everywhere! There was nothing like 'Oba of Benin' before Oranmiyan was begged to come and establish the extant Royal dynasty -- there was no Oba title in existence in Benin before Oranmiyan went and established it (how can Eleke-whatever be banished by an Obaship system that didn't even exist until his descendants established it??), so pray tell who this Oba of Benin that banished your Eleke-whatever was?? Una lie lie just too much!! 12 Likes |

RockHard:Pls study african earliest kingdoms... Is it possíble, that a man from a small land, will dominate and bêcome ruler of an established dynasty/kingdom? http://atlantablackstar.com/2013/12/05/7-midieval-african-kingdoms/3/ An established Kingdoms has soldiers, well fortified cities and towns, and an established monarchy, and only heirs can become the Oba of Benin. So it makes sense that a son of a King from an established Kingdom,go colonise a smaller town, with no coordinated monarchy at the time...and lord over them. 1 Like 1 Share |

dederocs: Dude, the Ogiso Dynasty was supplanted by an imported Obaship system that was already long existing in Yorubaland but nonexistent in Benin until the coming of Oranmiyan. That is the FACT that history bequeathed to us. Why are you people embarrassed to reference the Ogiso dynasty? I think I know why. It's because it punctures and exposes your fables about your Obaship origins. You hate to admit that your first Oba was a Yoruba import. That's why. It's that same embarrassment that led you all to distort your own history by fabricating the banishment fable, but even at that you people couldn't find one with an Oduduwa name in your history and still ended up using someone with a different name (Elekaderan or whachmacallit), and that existed at a different time than the Yoruba Oduduwa. Na wah for una. 8 Likes |

This is the biggest joke of the century. Ijaw claiming ownership of gelegele? I really pray this doesn't end in blood. The ijaws are known all over the south south as trouble makers. Its another fruitless exercise by the ijaws. I haven't and have never heard of anything like ijaw being part of Edo state. Let's see how it goes. |

dederocs: Guy, did Oranmiyan establish the Benin Obaship system that is extant today, a simple yes or no answer would suffice. Look, just so you know, I am not here to debate about whether or not Benin kingdom ever existed or performed exploits during its heydays. I honestly don't give a shyt bout none of that. I'm just here to terminate una lies about Oduduwa's origin, and correct the lies some of you are spreading about the ORIGIN of the 'Oba of Benin' title. 3 Likes |

Shegzy8: That is what you were told... Learn more, the Benin Kingdom is one of the 5 earliest dynasties and kingdoms in west Africa, and perhaps the most formidable at its peak. No other tribe from this geographical space called Naija is part of these 5 earliest, so it's not logical that such an organised state will be ruled by an outsider... It's not, cos they already had their own established monarchy with strong armies. Read here- http://atlantablackstar.com/2013/12/05/7-midieval-african-kingdoms/4/ 2 Likes |

RockHard: Pls click the link and learn more... The Benin monarchy system, and the Oba throne, is older than 700yrs...this is long before we heard about any other tribe's or their gods in this geographical space called Nigeria. Pls leave out sentiments, we all are one...but not good to bury the truth. Pls state your point clearly and logically, an Oba is a word that means King... Are you saying there were no Kings in Benin, while a formidable city with soldiers, clean, and doing trade with the Portuguese...all that is being done without a king?...lol pls let's talk like men, leave out folklore for now. Talk facts from verifiable historians and chanels. Are u talking about the term 'Oba' being a Yoruba lingua?...cos really, your argument lacks merit. 1 Like 1 Share |

Who was the first person to assume the 'Oba of Benin' title? Who was his father? And where was his father 'poached' from? Very simple questions. Isiokpukpu: I have not said the colonial historians did not lie when it suited them. They may have done so at times. I have tried to show that different accounts from multiple sources say the same thing with respect to Ughoton/Gelegele. We are not discussing Agbor here, but if we were, I would be highly reluctant to support a Bini claim to Agbor. The agbor people are most certainly of Ibo extraction not Bini. Certainly they paid allegiance to Benin at some time in the past and up till now (remember that the Obi sought refuge in the Obas palace as an infant) ; but that does not make them Bini. PS. My mother is Agbor and her father was an Okpanam of Alidinma so I know a bit of their history. 1 Like |

nonsobaba: baseless ranting due to painment, proximity to other tribe has caused mixture of different tribe even all over this nation, its because we have established royal stools that the issue of emirship came up long before civilisation, the Yoruba's are still living in Ilorin and believe me the day Fulani decide that Yoruba should leave is when you will realise what Yoruba's can do. we are laid back and civilised just like every developed nation in the world, we welcome and give others opportunity , your people should know that now 2 Likes |

RockHard: What is your point actually... Are u saying the term 'Oba' is a Yoruba word?... let me Enlighten you a bit, the name changing from the Ogiso title to Oba title, is just change in the description of the stool, the throne of the Benin Empire, it has nothing to do with where Oduduwa is from, pls your argument is baseless and really shallow. Kingdoms all over the world, change the name of the throne, like the Victorian era, then Elizabeth... This is just change of names that several factors can cause to happen...so your point is weak, cos Oba is not a word owned by the Yoruba. 2 Likes 1 Share |

dederocs:Unrealistic claim. Are you comparing Benin empire to the likes of Songhai, Mali etc? Then you don't understand anything. The only obstacle to Benin expansion was Oyo empire which Benin Kingdom never dared until Oyo empire collapsed as a result of the defeat in Ilorin. Mind you, Oyo was the buffer between Benin Kingdom and the mighty Caliphate. The Caliphate was mighty, let's face it, more than TEN TIMES the size of Benin empire in land mass, with connections and back up as far as Ottoman empire that sacked the Roman empire. Benin couldn't have stand the Caliphate let's be realistic, it was Borgu kingdom that was strong enough to attempt a rescue, a rescue that failed and cost them their kingdom 4 Likes |

dederocs:It is not just a change of name because ogiso means ruler from the sky. Oba was alien to Benin until Oranmiyan brought it from Ife. Let me ask you a simple question. What is the origin of Bini people? They came from where? Don't tell Benin is the oldest human civilization! 6 Likes 1 Share |

The ijaws are gradually becoming a nuisance in not just the South South but Nigeria in general. Ijaws should trend carefully cos we the Binis are not the Urhobos or Itsekiris or the Yorubas or the Ikwerres or Ogonis or Ilajes who they try this their land grabbing attitude towards. Ijaws would be in for a very big surprise if they don't take their time and respect themselves. Ijaws have no land in Edo state and will never have any. Not even a portion of any land in Edo state would be given to the Ijaws. I think it's time every tribe in the South South unite and chase Ijaws out of their land. Bayelsa is Ijawland and not Edo state. Even the name Gelegele is not even Ijaw. Ijaws take your time. Don't be fooled by the dane guns you have and think the Binis are a walkover. 2 Likes 1 Share |

RockHard:You have being here all day telling stupid lies that would make a day old child grin in amazement with you revisionist and baseless interpretation of the relationship between the Benin kingdom and your backwater little ile ife. Here are some questions for you. 1, Was your oduduwa at any point or time in history, referred to as the Oba of ile ife? 2, Tell us where in yorubaland ( outside Lagos) was there a traditional ruler with the title of Oba before 1950 3, When did the title of Oba of ile ife change to the ooni of ile ife and who effected the change and why? 4, What is the meaning of OBA in yoruba language? 5, Which established kingdom in the whole world with a hereditatry mornachy ever sought for a ruler who is not related in blood to the throne to come and rule over their kingdom and why? You can list atleast one outside of your ile ife fable 6, If you know history like you claim you do, how come there was no Oba in Benin between 1897 and 1914? 7, How come the British with all their civilization and superior force of arms did not succeed in their quest to foist an Oba without the established royal bloodline on the Benin Kingdom but a little jungle village like ile ife would lay claim to achieving that feat? 8, Of what use was seeking a yoruba king to the Benin kingdom? And last but not the least- 9, Who established the royal title of the Oba of Lagos? I am waiting for your answer and maybe questions or forever SHUT THE HELL UP 2 Likes 1 Share |
