The word "surgery" in medicine can mean just a consulting place you sees a medical person, not necessarily that they perfom open surgical operation there. I cannot see any modern doctor that will deliberately treat a person in an environment like that, unless in an emergency situation where you have not much of an option.

Opening someone up, while floating on trillions algea, bacterias and  other disease causing organism will be legalised suicide. We often get infection in a well control environment, let alone on filty box like that in the picture.

Probably, it was just a dispensary where they offers just prescription and patent medications.  But you know how addicted our people are for big names. A small snake always turns into a pyton

For the last time, performing 22 surgeries there does not suffice for high standards. The underlying factor here is the environment underneath the theater and it's effect on the facility. For sure, that structure will have molds in no distant time and you know the health implication of molds .

A case of Ideal vs Reality.

Unfortunately we do not live in an Ideal world, Nigeria is far from an Ideal world, Makoko is even farther from ideal world.

The people who came up with this initiative definitely must have seen the need before coming up with the Idea.

Why will someone waste his time, money and energy providing a service that is not needful or where they have a better alternative.

Who knows how many people have suffered, become hadicapped or died due to lack of such facilities especially in cases of emergency.

It is not an Ideal theater, but am damm sure it is needful and it is serving a purpose.

Laminal flow, temperature reading, operating lights, functioning operating tables and trolley,
functioning anaesthetic machine, suctioning machine, ventilated room,
