NOTE==>>

The update you're about to read is half-proof read and liable to blunders. Please get your helmets handy so to avoid and head injuries when you eventually collides with a grammatical blunder.

Don't say I didn't warn you.

BTW, chapter 89, comes up after a thorough reading.

Thanx.

88. COUNTLESS.

The price of liberty am gonna get if fate and karma could drop their stupid ego and collaborate with the human police or EFCC in the task of arresting Beatrice and John for me is more than okay to me. Infact it arguably outweighs whatever the federal government might wanted to pay me considering the kind of pain they both caused me.

It is with that kind of thought in mind that I did my best in giving Mr Adesina, a man in his early sixties, and who also happens to be the D.P.O of Wamba district police station of Nasarawa the full details of all I knew about the hideouts of Beatrice and John.

To make my whistle more effective, I also made mention of the kidnapped Senator and his wife that I overheard from Tgold, one of John's boys when he came to ask John of which car they should used in transferring them to another hideout.

"but you didn't tell us how you come to know about their hideouts. Even the Special Anti-Robbery Squad have combed every nook and cranny of the two locations you gave us and haven't been able to find them. So how come you do?" The D.P.O questioned me after I'd written down every necessary intel on Beatrice and John

The question got me offguard as I wasn't expecting someone I just gave a new car as gift to be asking me of its spare tires.

"don't get me wrong youngman, am not trying to accuse you of anything here. Just that I need something concrete to back up the order am giving my boys and to know how to defend it infront of my superiors incase things goes south." He stated convincingly and then, something flew to my brain.

I cleared my throat. "grin.p.o, eventually I was also a victim of....." I was saying when the ringing of his phone interrupted me. He picked it and spoke to the caller for some minutes before he returned his attention to me

"sorry for the interruption.......Mr....erm...erm.....your name again please?."

"Darous......" I replied calmly

"Darous? But which tribe are you from?"

"am a Yoruba guy."

"yoruba? As you can clearly see, am also a Yoruba man and that name sounds strange if am to go by anything concerning our legacy. What am saying is, Isn't your name suppose to be something like Ogundimu or Ifadahunsi.....or something more...."

"more Yorubalic?" I completed his sarcastic remarks and he continued

"Yes and that Darous of a name doesn't correlate with anything Yoruba atall."

"sure it doesn't."

"did your parents named you that?"

"hum...not atall"

"care to tell me how you come by that name?" He asked

"well, its just the English of my Yoruba name."

"which is?"

"Oluwadamilare."

"hmmm....thats a nice name you got there.."

"maybe to you sir, but to me, it sounds a bit primitive"

"PRIMITIVE? sometimes you don't have to look at how something sounds. You rather look at its significant meanings. Oluwadamilare means God has Justified me. That meaning alone is a silent prayer for anybody that calls you by that name." He stated effusively.

I pondered on his words for some minutes before he broke the silence.

"well, sorry for derailing off the issue we were on before....you were about telling me how you came to know all of the details about the location of the kidnappers that kidnapped Senator Bruce Lee and his wife."

"urgh...yes.....about that....."

"please continue....Mr Oluwadamilare." He completed with a wide grin.

For the second time, I was about to talk when some came in.

"Ready to go sir!." Officer Donteanz interrupted to announce their readiness to embark on this mission to the D.p.o

The latter rose up instantly and gave me an handshake.

"thank you once again Oluwadamilare.... You've been absolutely helpful to the nation at large." The D.P.O said as we engaged in the handshake.

I smiled in appreciation of his remarks.

"we will contact you through the infos you gave us once the mission has been completed."

"ah, about that, I told you I'm not really doing this for money...."

"I don't think you have a choice. Its against the protocol of making the whistle blowing activities a success....moreso the EFCC boss is going to demand that from us outrightly"

"ok then. Seems the country is evolving effectively afterall." I replied

"and be rest assured, your identity is strictly safe with us. We will do our best in getting them behind bars this night." The D.P.O added vehemently.

"nothing will thrill me more than to see those two behind bars Oga, I'll definitely be the most happiest man on earth." With those final words, I departed the station with a sense of accomplishment.

***

The first thing I did after getting out was locating a food canteen where I ate joyfully to my fill. After eating, I asked around for the directions on how to get to Abeokuta from where I was in Nasarawa. It appears like a fruitless task at first because most of the people am asking were allergic to English language and Yoruba, but all thanks to my strong determination to get home at all cost, I was able to found someone who understands me after some hours.

It took the mass-transit luxurious bus that conveyed me from Nasarawa to Abeokuta more than 28hours to arrive at the Kuto Moto park in Abeokuta.

Those hours I spent inside the bus gave me the dept of time needed to plan out my second chance at freedom.

Challenges they say, are what make us who we are, the people that I've encountered, the betrayals, and the things that have been unveiled recently about my life are the results of what I'd become.

After so much time spent on thinking and deliberation about my life, I was able to point out the topmost priority of what I needed to do once I get back home.

First, I realise that, my infatuation of anything in skirt has caused me more harm than the pleasures in it. But nevertheless, the words of Jonathan Kent, when he was advising Clark Kent about a mutual issue in the tenth season of Smallville popped into my mind during the solemn deliberation with myself inside the bus.
"We are all confronted with trials my son, but the true measure of a man is how he chooses to react in the face of those trials." He had said to Clark Kent back then in the season finale of Smallville.

Taking those words like a new watchword for myself, I was able to map out the way am going to start living my new life.

Secondly, In other not to get things more complicated with my stay in Abeokuta, I determined to stay away from Doris and her daughters. Most especially, knowing that trying to get acquinted with them will only prompt me to hurt Joke the more and she doesn't deserve that.

No more hunting for anything beautiful in skirt. May Gawd help me. I prayed.

About Jide, well, just like I said earlier, keep your friends close and keep your enemies closer. To me Jide has been more of the latter than the former based on the revelation of his involvement on my past and present predicaments which he subconsciously did when he was talking to the fake version of Beatrice which happens to be me, so its only wise of me to treat him as the combination of the two. A Frenemy.

I also can't help but wonder which of the devils list of lies has Doris told her daughters pertaining to my absence. But Seeing as I'd already determined to stay away from them, its pointless to worry about it

I was listening to the midday news on my phone when I finally alighted at the Kuto moto park and it was broadcasted that the police had sucessfully arrested a certain woman who's the owner of a drug empire alongside the kidnapper that kidnapped senator Bruce Lee and his wife

I mentally commended the police for a job well done and also giving Karma and Fate a thumbs up for swallowing their egos in collaborating with the police in apprehending those agents of the devil as the bike I boarded conveyed me to my house. And when I say house, I mean where I was the one paying the rent. In simpler terms, where Jide and I lived

***

"Darous! Where you beening all this daysing?" Blessing, Jide's girlfriend said after giving me a warm embrace the moment I stepped inside our compound

"Blessing baby! See how beautiful you've grown?...not in your looks alone...."

"you never stopping this your flatterinmenting attitude....don't flattery me jor." She said with a smile.

"ah no flatteration you atall Blessing...." I stated with a sarcastic smile, imitating her vanacular english. "by the way, where's your boyfriend?" I questioned after failing to see any hint of Jide's presence.

"ah, that boy, he is traveller since last week. Leaving me aloning in this place." She said with an ironically sad tone.

"where did he said he's going?"

"he no telling me o. But me am not minding."

"hmmm....ok. Let me go and get myself cleaned up. As you can see am a practical mess right now." I said as I walked to my door. I reached it and it was when I wanted to open it that I remembered that the key was still at Doris house.

"oh sh!t!"

"what happening?"

"erm....my keys...I lost em....I'll have to break this door."

"let me helping you to collecting Hammer and cutlass from Opeyemi." She said walking towards our neighbours house.

Three minutes later, she came back with both equipments needed to break a padlock.

"thanks Blessing. You're such a darling...." I said after breaking the door open.

"don't thanking me jare. Me am going out o. I'll be arriving with the night." She said and headed out of the house.

I watched from my doorsteps as she waved down a bike, mounted it and zoomed off.

Dusts have almost taken over the appearance of my room. I did a thorough job in cleaning, dusting and washing all thats washable for more than one hour.

The room looks practically neat and nice once again after the self-envi-room-mental sanitation I did.

At 3'oclock, claded in a blue sleeveless shirt and a black pant trouser, I set out for the resturants down the street to get something inside my hungry belly.

I was back after fourty five minutes. But just when I was thinking of taking a nap. I began to hear some angry voice from outside my door.
