Madam rebranding is actually acting out a script which she end up regreting like Fani Kayodes and Nuhu Ribadus. She should ask the likes of Chukuwumerije, Akpamodje and Alex Akinyele who held sway during their time. Time will tell her how wrong she fared in the last one and half year that she took up this dirty geobellish job. Bad job description for a dearly loved Dora. I wish she take a clue from Segun Adeniyi, you can not sell a visibly bad product with the intent that the buyers are blind, |

DAAR Communications A Federal High Court, Abuja, yesterday stopped the Federal Government from revoking the network licence of DAAR Communications Plc, owners of Ray Power 100.5 FM radio station and Africa Independent Television (AIT). The government recently revoked the network licence it granted the company 14 years ago sparking the litigation. Justice Adamu Bello granted the injunction, following an exparte application argued yesterday by the plaintiff’s lawyer, Chief Mike Ozekhome. The order is to subsist pending the hearing and determination of the motion on notice slated for next Wednesday. Ozekhome noted yesterday that "this is a sweet victory even though it is temporary." DAAR Communications went to court last Friday after all efforts to make the National Broadcasting Corporation (NBC) rescind its decision to cancel its network licence failed. In the originating summons, the company is praying the court for an order setting aside a purported bid for fresh network licence held by the NBC between September 6 and December 12. According to the plaintiff, the purported bid was flawed, overreaching, wrongful, oppressive, unconscionable, and null and void. Alternatively, it urges the court to compel NBC to issue it a fresh network licence for radio and television broadcast on the payment of the appropriate fees in the event the court holds that it does not possess a valid network service. Defendants in the suit are the Ministry of Information and Communications, Attorney-General of the Federation and NBC. NBC was sued because it is the parastatal with the statutory responsibility of regulating and controlling the broadcast industry. The Ministry of Information and Communications was sued because it has the statutory power of supervising and overseeing the activities of NBC. Attorney-General of the Federation was sued on behalf of the government, being the Chief Law Officer of the Federation. The plaintiff formulated five fundamental cum statutory questions for the court to determine. If they are resolved in its favour, the plaintiff is seeking five declarations and three reliefs which include a declaration that having regard to the totality of the facts and the entire circumstances of the case, the plaintiff is entitled to be granted a fresh network licence for radio and television broadcast on the payment of the appropriate fees. http://thenationonlineng.net/web2/articles/29798/1/Court-restrains-govt-from-revoking-DAARs-licence/Page1.html |

Enjoyment1: Look at all the issues raised. Look at those involved in these crises; these Madam Rebranding, notorious Attorney General, and ever biased NBC. This is obviously the fallout of FIFA Under 17 Championship. I am ashamed of Madam Rebranding for partaking in this show of shame. |

AIT: Presidency Denies Revocation Plot Written by By Golu Timothy, Abuja Wednesday, 23 December 2009 01:23 The Presidency yesterday washed its hands off the alleged plans to revoke the operational network licence issued to DAAR Communications, owners of African Independent Television and Raypower radio stations, saying it is not aware of any such move. A source our correspondent that neither President Umaru Musa Yar'Adua nor Vice President Goodluck Jonathan was briefed on any issue related to the alleged revocation of the network licence. Already, the source said, Vice President Jonathan has summoned the Minister of Information and Communications, Prof Dora Akunyili, and the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission (NBC), Engr Yomi Bolarinwa, have been summoned to the Presidential Villa to explain the circumstances leading to the "purported move to revoke the licence." According to the source, "The Presidency was not aware of the development and is not happy with the revocation allegation. Right now as we speak, the Minister (Prof Akunyili) and the DG (Engr Bolarinwa) have been summoned to defend the purported action. I can also authoritatively tell you that The Presidency is not aware of the development because neither the President nor the Vice President was briefed. This administration is one that is built on the tenets of rule of law and the freedom of the press. Any move that will erode these principles will be addressed promptly and collectively." http://www.leadershipnigeria.com/index.php/news/headlines/9997-ait-presidency-denies-revocation-plot |

Fire guts 'AIT', 'Ray Power' office WEDNESDAY, 30 DECEMBER 2009 00:00 NIGERIAN COMPASS The building of DAAR Communications, which houses African Independent Television (AIT) and Ray Power FM, in Alagbado, Lagos, yesterday went up in flame. The cause of the fire was yet unknown at the time of this report, but it was gathered that the inferno started from the studio during a recording session. This is the third time fire would engulf the station, the first was in 2001 at its Abuja office and the second in 2007 at the Alagbado corporate office. According to a worker, his colleagues were in the newsroom when one of them dashed out from the studio, shouting, “fire, fire.” Those in the newsroom, it was gathered, attempted to rush out of the door, but turned back when they saw flames and they started jumping out through the window. The fire started about 4p.m. Some of the workers wept uncontroably as electrical/electronic gadgets in the station were consumed by the inferno, which spread so rapidly. At about 5pm, five fire-fighting vehicles were on ground with firemen battling the fire, and eventually succeeded in rescuing a member of staff, who became unconscious while attempting to put off the flames himself. As at press time, the fire was still raging, while fire-fighters made spirited efforts to see if worker was trapped inside the building.
