I always tell people that drinking garri by force is poverty but when you drink garri by choice then that is the real deal cos you can choose to drink it with crocodile meat,snake meat or even elephant meat...can't joke with ijebu garri.

I have been asking to know the reasons there seems to be shortage of garri(why its now expensive). So far I am not satisfied with what I have been told. Reasons like, people in rural areas no longer farming owing to communal clashes, menace of cult boys operating in villages and fulani herdsmen destroying farms with their cattle. Are these the real reasons? If they are, then why is garri expensive in rural areas too given that they produce the garri by themselves?

The bulk of the cassavas harvested from Nigerian farms are now processed into starch and exported overseas because it is more profitable to do that and get the almighty dollars.

Fulani herdsmen and their cows perch for one corner waiting for d right moment to invade ur farm.

They are also the cause of this garri hike. Farmers dont produce as much as they used to.

Go to farm dear and stop complaining....

I believe its greed on their part. since d price of virtually everything has gone up the farmers no wan carry last. I feel Sorry for dis generation.

Price increase is not necessarily greed, it's a ripple effect; a garri seller needs to increase his/her price of garri to be able to afford other items like a litre of fuel or kerosene or transport fare to/from the market e.t.c (the prices of which have all increased).
