You need to see him on Handcuffs. He was looking like a baboon. I am very happy that Alams he's been impeached and arrested. This will teach other governors thieving our money to be very careful.

The Vice-Chairman, South-South of the All Nigerian Peoples Party (ANPP), Chief Douye Douglas-Naingba, yesterday described the impeachment of the Bayelsa State Governor as a rape on democracy.

"Just three days and the panel has finished sitting? It is unfortunate, it is dangerous for Nigeria's democracy", he said.

Naingba told Saturday Independent that he was with the Governor when he was arrested.

"As early as 6am movement within government house was restricted. Even to eat or drink water was a problem. It was around 11.15am that one could move to eat, he narrated.

ope o! praise the Lord! that criminal has finally been netted!

however i will like to sound a note of caution, depsite the fact that i 100% support Alams arrest, i am afraid at the extreme use of security agents to remove him. look beyond the arrest, it is clear we now live in a dictatorship where anyone not in Obj's favor can now be picked up using the army, police and EFCC! we are in big trouble fellow nigerians!
Imagine that the panel inaugurated to probe him sat for only 1 week!

2. It's interesting that of all the hue and hype over corruption, those being hounded by the EFCC are mainly those NOT of core northern extraction. (pls do not give me the dariye, jolly nyame defense because we all know who is "north" and who is not!). It is evident that some pple are still above the law in this nation. i don't see any reason why alams arrest is generating so much fever while the greatest nigerian thief in history, gen Babangida, is serving as a presidential "goodwill" ambassador to sudan. he even has the temerity to offer himself for president!

What of Mohammed Abacha? he and his father are reputed to have looted over $4bn from our coffers. what did obj do, simply allow him to return some of the money in exchange for his freedom and $100m in swiss accounts! what impudence!

if what is good for the goose is good for the gander, why did they not follow the same pattern with tafa? at least we are told he attempted to settle out of court but was refused! Why are all EFCC targets mainly southerners and middlebelters?

I do not support roguery either by yoruba or igbo or hausa, but i am worried that we live in a lopsided federalism where you are untouchable as long as you belong to the hausa fulani oligarchy.

let us be sincere, Alams is merely being used as a public relations stunt. the real thieves are up north. those who thru their brothers in the army have held us hostage since yakubu gowon in 1966, denied us the right to control our resources and are even angling to have power returned to them in 2007! Pls where are the Wada Nases, Babangidas, Abachas, Jerry Useni, Bamaiyi. They shld be in jail well b4 we can claim to be fighting corruption. enough of using us as scapegoats!

If the same thing had happened to for example the sokoto state governor, the house of assembly would never have impeached him! would OBJ have dared to send the army and police to sokoto state? will EFCC have the power to abduct the members of their house of assembly? would they have signed an impeachment notice of their gov in lagos?

Davidylan:

What kind of comment is that ?
You are accusing OBJ of leaving the Northern thieves. Haba! we need to appreciate what OBJ has done.
Did u watch the arrest on TV ? I do watch it via BEN TV, i beg u need to give Oba a pat in d back.
THERE ARE SOME CRIMINALS THAT DONT DESERVE DECENCY IN HANDLING THEM. UK government treat him with decency, he made nonsense of them.
Tell me any government in our history that have jailed a corrupt Inspector of police, sacked 3 serving minister, changed 3 Senate presidents on account of corruption?
Where is Sunday Afolabi now? Otunba fasawe nko( the one whose business card reads "friend of the president" ?
OBJ do not care where the culprit comes from, in fact there's this young man who OBJ sponsor from primary school up to University, who got a position of "special adviser" in his regime, he was involved in a scandal, he was sacked via NTA NEWS.
Re: Bayelsa State: DSP Alamieyeseigha Impeached and Arrested by Nobody: 5:45pm On Dec 10, 2005
indeed! akolawole!

however not everyone shares ur views. i for one do not. i agree Obj has done something, i do not take that awayf rom him, my argument is that WE and OBJ know where the real thieves are, those who have plundered the economy, those like sheu shagari and his ilk who ran down the over $10bn foreign reserve OBJ left as at 1978, those like umaru dikko who are now ranting like ants! those like Babangida who owns shares in Seiko, japan! those like alhaji Wada Nas, those like jerry useni who are now lecturing us on democracy, those like Buhari at the PTF, those like the Abacha's with whom we are still arguing over how to retrieve the millions of dollars of taxpayers money in foreign banks. those who have taken nigeria to court over the loot!

i do not support corruption and i am happy baba is even taking steps to remedy our image, but i am worried that we are not stamping out corruption at all. we are merely saying corruption pays as long as u belong to the "untouchables".

All you need do is yell Sharia and we will all run with our tails btw our legs.
Re: Bayelsa State: DSP Alamieyeseigha Impeached and Arrested by Akolawole(m): 7:29pm On Dec 10, 2005
Thanks for ur quick response:

"We are not Stamping out corruption"
OBJ has done well, we are indeed stamping out corruption. The open secret is OBJ is a lone ranger, He is fighting the war alone. He is surrounded by them(thieves), They dont like him at all. His best Leuitenants are NOT PDP neither are they politicians.

"Sheu Shagari"
If we have access to Sheu's account, One will hardly see a balance of 2 million naira. He was a figure head. He still nothing. The headquarters of STEALING in the second republic is in Ibadan. I would not like to mention names here. The Who's Who in National party of Nigeria is in Ibadan. As a proper ibadan boy, i was previledge to attend their parties. God !

In Nigeria, we have different kind of thieves in Government.
Some will steal and keep the proceed in somebody else name. Some enrich their friends and u cannot trace any Loot to their name. Few of the names u mentioned belog to that group.

EFFECT of Anti-Corruption.
In the last 6 weeks, Naira has appreciated by over ten naira. As at today, £1 is Xchanged for #238, which was 252 b4. It is a fact that, on getting the monthly allocation,Office holders descend on Sabo markets to exchange the money to Dollars & Pounds and the travel abroad.
Re: Bayelsa State: DSP Alamieyeseigha Impeached and Arrested by larger20(m): 9:03pm On Dec 10, 2005
OBj is trying...i will vote for him again even though I be igbo..not bad comment please. What i want is a country that will be free of corruption and he is doing his best to the best of my knowledge. I know that OBJ does not like the igbos right from time due to some peoples mentality and I don't blame him...

I recommend that OBJ should invest more in education renovate and upgrade computer labs in nigerian universities and build a new university.
Alternativley, CBN can give funds as a form of incentives to private insistitutions to help develop the countires educational system. Equity will be discussed in the business plan escape strategies

- OBJ should set our real estate government incentives to attract investors for future development of nigeria.
- When I visited nigeria and saw where students live, I wanted to vomit.there are many invesments that nigeria has neglected due to oil. I think I will come back and show them how to make a country great.

- All road construction works should be monitors by the EFFC after the contracts has been awarded

I am happy about the pound vs naira exchange rate..the us dollars remain 129$ per naira still. I hope it changes in the future

call it attack against those who are not in his favor or call it any other thing, as far as I am concerned, Im happy with the way OBJ is handling the issue as well as others and I think its the beginning of a good Nigeria. I heard and read that INtels have been suspended from operating since monday and a panel set up to investigate VPs businesses. Fair enough, people are asking is OBJ himself not corrupt, well like I tell others, if you know he is and you have the facts, please bring them out let the necessary authorities investigate cool
Re: Bayelsa State: DSP Alamieyeseigha Impeached and Arrested by nawah2: 3:16am On Dec 11, 2005
Its a shame we all follow lies, the UK government have their hands in all the lootings across Africa, this is the same government that looted Edo Kingdom in the ancient days, there is no African country that have succeeded in governing her self except Libya, we have lost so many great leader like Kwame Nkrumah in the cost of Liberating Africa from these thief’s and no one has ever asked; "what killed Nkrumah"? I followed the history that explained how Smallpox was introduced into Australia In 1789 where it kills more than 50 per cent of the indigenous black people “Aborigines.” they have carried out so many Atrocities on reducing the populations of Africans world-wide and their latest formation is: AID/HIV even in a black/white societies like the US and South Africa the people who encounters the syndromes are mostly blacks, Why? We need to wake up from our blindness and stop sleeping, our long blindness caused us rejoiced at the death of Nkrumah, Abacha and Abiola and we have never asked what killed them?
I remember the US government also told us that former Liberian president "Taylor" broke jail from the US but we knew Taylor was sent by the US to topple Doe's government because of some disagreements between Doe and the US Government of First Bush, and later Taylor government was also toppled by another US government sponsored "Son-Bush" rebel group "LURD" You see the formation of these Allies is to loot Africa to death.

only a blind man will say that obj has done/is doing nothing. but we all wish he would do even more. but i guess he's trying the best he can. he isn't a magician that will throw a wand and everything suddenly becomes better. nigeria is very complex and even he has to be cautious.
@ davidylan, you've made good points. i live for the day that Ibb would be made to pay for all he did to nigeria. the thought that he's aspiring to become a democratic president makes me sick, literally.
Obj still needs to do more and time is fast running out!(or is it not)

My Friend, i agree with u, The Country is too complex.
IBB thief. might be a brilliant thief.

You will hardly see his name in the mess,All na Speculation. he legalised Bribery in Naija but he's very careful.
Re: Bayelsa State: DSP Alamieyeseigha Impeached and Arrested by Greatpeter(m): 3:27pm On Dec 11, 2005
I prefer he be tried in Nigeria than in London.
He could bargain in London because his offence of
money laundering and bail jusp aren't serious as british law is concerned.
But if tried in Nigeria, he will be imprisioned for sure.

Re: Bayelsa State: DSP Alamieyeseigha Impeached and Arrested by drbigdaddyg(m): 9:19am On Dec 12, 2005
Let's be diplomatic in this situation. Who told you the britons are not using us? (I know this time I must have created some scene).
I will start by commending Mr. President for his move to combat corruption in Nigeria, an applause to him ; no dey easy ooo!!! But, we must be very careful in dealing with Brit... because they have civilized  way of laundering our money.
Explanation: I want to know where in their code, the money recovered from the "thieves" will be sent back to the country from which they stole it. The Alamco's case will be used as typical instance: They Briton  charged him almost 3/4 of the money just for bail, variably, that part of the money "grabbed" will maybe be deployed to their educational sector, infrastructural sector or to buy bazokas and bombs for Iraq. Then, how useful have that money been to the duo country (Nigeria)? What of the remaining money got from him?
They should better amend that code or stop using us.
Don't you people think they released Alamco after having drained him of "our" money. Maybe, sendng him back to organize another one for  them. What of his houses and property that was apprehended there? Are they to sell those property and release the money to Nigeria for settlement of the debts incurred?
Let's deliberate on  this issue.
Re: Bayelsa State: DSP Alamieyeseigha Impeached and Arrested by ono(m): 11:52am On Dec 12, 2005
I have read thru most of the comments on this matter.....I'm new here... But I must state that I am dissappointed - at least from most of the contributions on this matter - I'm not Alams stooge or any of his boys..

Since when did we stop thinking rationally as Nigerians? I think the long years of military rule (misrule?) have really impacted greatly on our psyche and our thinking faculty. What a shame. I just pray we are not heading for doom in this country.

All said, I KNOW that Alamieyeseigha is innocent of all the charges proffered against him. He's being prosecuted for daring to shout against the excesses of a wild leader, a maximum ruler. We all know that we did not elect him. He was forced on us all by some strange forces bent on emasculating us, in the name of giving us the ''....dividends of democracy, continuity etc etc'' which I'm yet to understand.

This is Planet Earth calling Astronaut Ono.   Please repeat your last message, as it was garbled and made no sense from our perspective down here.  You must return from outer space NOW.  Over.

Ono, Ono, Ono.    You write so earnestly, but yet,   are you seriously claiming that the investigative conclusions of the governor's probable guilt on money laundering charges at London's Scottland Yard and the ten million sterling pounds worth of assets traced to Looting Governor ALhelpmasef all amount to nothing more than a vendetta originating in Nigeria ?  Just how much of a salary does Governor ALhelpmasef make, to have amassed 10 mill pounds sterling in assets and cash ?

Ono we at Mission Control have analysed and attributed your startling Alice-in-Wonderland defense of Governor ALhelpmasef to the subtle physiological effects of weightlessness and oxygen deficiency in outer space from where you are obviously writing, and as such you are  forgiven unconditionally and will still be accorded a hero's welcome back to Mother Earth, where you will soon witness the extradition and jailing of Governor ALhelpmasef in London.

Abort the mission Astronaut Ono, and turn back before it is too late.    Over and Out.

Please get me right,I love what is happening to Alamco but we need a holistic approach and all those governors should come out clean.Lastly please guys tell me who owns BELLS University and BELLS secondary school, where did the owner get the money to set it up and the farm hea has ,na general salary he use set am up?

Alam thought he was smart. Thank God he escaped from London; that hastened his impeachment and arrest. He is already a convicted and condemned criminal. Kudos to the Bayelsa's state house of assembly. We must all join hands together with Obasanjo to destroy the monster called CORRUPTION.
Re: Bayelsa State: DSP Alamieyeseigha Impeached and Arrested by ono(m): 4:27pm On Dec 12, 2005
Jakumo,
I be Waffi (Warri - Just in case u don't know what Waffi means) man o! When it comes to 'gbege'' You know, no one can beat a Waffarian to it in the entire Nigeria! I want to tell you that OBJ's anti-corruption drive is selective in clear terms. I don't give a dime what others think. I'm baring my mind here.

Pls note that I'm not in outer space, I'm right here in the heart of the Niger Delta. I've not been dreaming either, I'm wide awake and I've been following the events leading to the ''capture'' not ''arrest and impeachment'' of Alams. To me, this war btw OBJ and Alams has some elements of muscle-flexing and power-flexing than anything constitutional. It's jungle war cum justice being displayed in full glare of all of us. A rape on democratic norms. And the earlier we nip this ugly trend in the bud the better for the future of our dear country.

''Every'' information on Alams from the start were forged to deceive us and to achieve their purpose....just as NTA and the information minister deceived us on the location of the Bellview Air mishap. PDP means People Deceiving People - and that's what they've lived up to over the years. Please don't let them deceive you too...

There are many thieves walking free right under OBJs nose up there in Abuja and he simply cannot do anything about them! They will at best go after his throat and unmask him - if he dares them! It is the arrogance and impunity of Alams that he cannot bear. I can imagine what Alams' sin are: Resource control fight and Enthronment of true democratic norms - otherwise he too will be walking free with his loot by now. He (Obasanjo) wants people to be loyal to him and his govt - but he flouts court orders with impunity!

Alams stole for more than six years. But since he was in the good books of the PDP, they saw nothing wrong with that. And just like the ordinary policeman on the highway demanding N20 note from all of us and then later share the proceeds (loot) at the police stations with their superiors, Alams was sharing the loot with the PDP until he refused to do same again. He, in the process, incured the wrath of the powers that be. Someone said Alams did not donate to OBJs Library at Abeokuta.

I'll ask some questions to buttress my points here.

* Where did the owner of Obasanjo Holdings get the money to set up The Bells group of school and Bells University? - what moral justification has he to erect such structures in his home state when Delta State, the largest oil producing state in the country (N5 trillion came to Federal coffers in 2005 from Delta) has no Federal University, even when it has been confirmed that Delta has one of the highest number of students waiting to gain admissions to universities?

*What happened to OBJ's son when he bought a mansion in New York under questionable - let me use his words - ''SURREPTITIOUS'' circumstances? The case has suddenly gone under, buried!

...there are many others

and,

* I will like OBJ to arrest IBB, Abdulsalami Abubakar, Theophilus Danjuma etc - afterall their names appeared in a list sent to him by the World Bank as the ''real'' looters of the Nations economy and treasury....

Nemesis will catch up with all those who wants to ruin our dear country.....right from the top to the bottom....and all their collaborators.....

May God open the eyes of the likes of Jakumo to see the truth and stop chasing shadows! I rest my case
Re: Bayelsa State: DSP Alamieyeseigha Impeached and Arrested by Odeku(m): 5:23pm On Dec 12, 2005
ONO  My father used to say son you will have nothing to be afraid of as long as you live a good life, the question of the Governor been framed is totally ridiculous to me, How much does this guy make in salary to be able to afford a house he had in London, and who frame the money found on him and the one found at his house? the problem is this guys think because they have immunity in Nigeria you can do it any where else.  Why did the governor jump bail, and ill rather they go through the due process of law in Nigeria.  This man will strike a plea bargain in Britain and go scot free as long as he plan to forfeit his asset and never plan to return to Britain.   TAFA Balogun said he was framed too when he was arrested, and all of a sudden he pleaded guilty to get a lesser jail time.
Re: Bayelsa State: DSP Alamieyeseigha Impeached and Arrested by CimonJorr(m): 7:37pm On Dec 12, 2005
Me thinks some people in Nigeria would rather live with their heads up in their @$$e$ than rather face the reality of the moment..

For some people to think or believe that a legal system which is implemented all over the world was designed to fleece money from a certain country... Where is it written that someone must jump bail??.. or that someone even has to pay the bail money self.. one can always languish in the luxury of a prison cell, pending trial..

Further more, for those who also would rather adopt the "Ostrich" approach to political issues, and not face the reality that some people are actually guilty of embezzling the states they were chosen to represent.. For those who are so "short-sighted" myopic (*chei!! english hard oh.. which word I go use here wey no go sound like say I dey yab person self.. *)
well...  that lack the clarity of vision that they refuse to see that someone actually committed these crimes, instead of using blinders, and just focussing on the fact that some other ciminally inclined elements Governing some states are there yet to be touched.. Well, all I can say is shine your eyes..

A lot has been said about how selective the weeding process has been.. And I tell those such inclined to be patient.. let the body that has been constituted to investigate this do their work.. All the truth will soon come out.. It took time for the organ (EFCC) to come into existence.. I dont think it will die off like that, even if we have a new president come 2007.. Let them do their work, instead of all the noise we're hearing of others which haven't been investigated and prosecuted.. Step by step, the EFCC will do thier job, but only if we offer them the support they deserve.. And I can be bold enough to make this statement.. Even if our dear President is guilty of financial crimes, someone will expose it.. Whether we like it or not.. whether he likes it or not.. Cos that that always happens..

So, lets stop crucifying someone for having the guts to do what a lot of administrations have avoided doing before now.. and rather continue to support the fact that the guilty are being made accountable..

If we must say the truth, a lot of our current Governance are corrupt.. and this corruption extends from the top down.. all the way down.. but must we turn a blind eye.. or condem those that are brave, bold or empowered enough to pursue these people and obtain the truth.. I say no.. No matter who set up the bodies responsible for procescuting these financial crimes, let them (EFCC) do their work.. Support them..

I haven't heard any noise about the man who wanted to play God who was expelled from a party, and later re-admitted into the same party.. and yet, a man who's working hard for the people he's chosen to serve is there recieving flak from left right and center..

Let us begin to call a spade a spade.. Yeah.. the truth hurts, but some times, someone has to say it..  tongue
Re: Bayelsa State: DSP Alamieyeseigha Impeached and Arrested by bagoma(f): 8:25pm On Dec 12, 2005
the issue is guilty or not guilty. did alams commit all those crimes against his people, indeed against the people of nigeria? that is the issue. so whether obj doesn't like him or not is besides the point!
