Two eleven year olds, Teniola Tope-Ojo and Ihuoma Chukwuemeka Emmanuel, became millionaires during the children's special edition of the game show, ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire' held at the Ultima Studios in Ikeja, Lagos.

Millionaire kids

Teniola, a Junior Secondary Two student of Holy Child College, Ikoyi, Lagos, went home with the sum of N2 million naira; while Master Emmanuel, a Junior Secondary One student at Christ The Redeemer's College, Sagamu, pocketed N1 million naira.

While Emmanuel, who speaks Igbo, English, and French, said his ambitions are to meet the president of the United States of America, Barrack Obama and to become a footballer cum Petroleum Engineer; Teniola, who also speaks English and French as well as her native language, Yoruba, said her ambitions are to meet the Queen of England and to become a world renowned gynaecologist.

Some of the guests who witnessed the occasion included the deputy governor of Lagos State, Sarah Adebisi Sosan, who was also the ‘Mother of the Day'. Also in attendance as the special guest was veteran story teller, 68-year-old Jimi Solanke.

The deputy governor congratulated the kids and thanked the organisers of the programme for giving the children a platform to display their intelligence.

"Thank you very much, Frank Edoho (host of the show) and the entire crew of ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?' It's been very exciting to be in the midst of my children and watching them display that intelligence that we are known for. Nigerian children, you are great! God bless you all," Mrs. Sosan said.

Other winners

A total of seven kids played in the game, winning between N250, 000 and N2 million in scholarships.

Also, winners from the ‘audience play' received books and educational materials up to N20, 000.

Two months ago, 36-year-old banker turned entrepreneur, Chimuanya Ufodike, became the first person to win N10 million, the maximum amount, on the game show.

According to the organisers, the show, which is now in its fourth season in Nigeria, had disbursed a total of N73, 236, 000 by the end of the third season.

I wonder how MTN makes their money from this game? Is it from the same N200 scratch cards?

MTN don't own the show.
They only sponsor it by paying for the airtime.

Over 70million Nigerians are on GSM MTN has over one-third of the market size.Imagine 100,000 entering the show and 200 is deducted from their phone and only say 10-50 people actually seat on the hot seat.Do you get the picture?
