The Changing Face Of Gender Equality by Nobody: 4:15pm On Apr 03, 2017
The 1945 United Nation Charter and the 1948 Universal Declaration of Human Rights established the rights of women and non discrimination based on their sex. What followed were conferences and conventions that sought to establish and make gender equality more pronounced.

To the the frontiers and crusaders of this move of Gender Equality, the term-gender equality meant “equality between men and women… the concept that all human beings, both men and women, are free to develop their personal abilities and make choices without the limitations set by stereotypes, rigid gender roles and prejudices.” ABC Of Women Worker’s Rights And Gender Equality, ILO, 2000. p. 48.
According to them and their beliefs, women have been sidelined, neglected and left aside in the course of administration which they(men and women) collectively paid for and as such, equality must strive and prevail.

They chant for all to hear about the discriminatory practices and the subjugation culture that have made them to become sit-at-home women.
They tell the world through few successes some of their folk have made that they can rule the world solely or collectively.

The question remains- what is equality? Equality means standing or being placed on the same pedestal. It connotes being seen as one and with no prevalence of factors to show that one is better than one.
However, as good and equitable their chants and cries have been, the world is now left in the dilemma of what is really going on. Is it equality drive or subjugation of the men folk?
Only a prophet could determine this.

The approaches and the domination of the society with gender equality which indeed is fraudulent has been the reality of the present day. Man now is seen to be a problem, hindrance and clog in the wheel of average Nigeria.
The presentation of the women folks at criminal sentences and tendencies(most especially in rape) as being weakling and the incessant deafening sound at the slightest enjoyment is enough to show hypocrisy.

As much as there are discriminatory practices most especially in the culture of most primitive societies, to say that subjugation of men in name of Gender equality is the key is largely erroneous and lacks a logic standing.
Man is a wicked man so their actions say. They institute violence against women and rape them. They segregate them in selective posts and subject them to sex instruments. These and many more are the allegations against men and as such gender equality must come to stand.

But what about the unequal sentences in our criminal justice, the International Women’s day, the dominance of dowry and bride price in Nigeria while they fight it out in India and inequality in custody matters amongst others. What have the women got to say? Does that mean men need no right, need no help and need no education. When a boy is neglected to take care of the girl, it is women empowerment but when tables turn, it is subjugation of the girl being female.

Gender equality is fast changing face and the equality is either being altered or absolutely deceptive ab initio.
Women must be empowered so must the men be empowered. Women must be educated so must the men be educated.

Equality is not having a ministry, it is inequality. Equality is not having solely an International Women’s day, it is inequality. Equality is not having unequal criminal sentences and tendencies, it is inequality.

Equality is not having departments and agencies funded for the course of women only, it is inequality. Equality is not having a course for the women alone, it is inequality.
Until the frontiers of this fraud tagged Gender equality which indeed is women supremacy face the facts and fight for the real equality, the course might not be achievable.
Let’s all face the society as an entity and not based on Gender. Let’s all face jail term as a criminal and not based on Gender. Let’s all run and fight for position as a contestant and not based on gender. Let’s all fight criminality against human and not based on Gender.
This is the true equality. This is the achievable equality. This should be their focus.
