Davido signed to Sony Music and was not allowed to drop a single song for eleven months...The single drought adversely affected his career in terms of airplay, shows and awards.. Fela anikulapo kuti invented afro beats and today , he is more known internationally than any Nigerian artist ...Sunny Ade was nominated for Grammy for his juju music...

Davido raked in Over 45 million from shows according to his Snapchat from shows after he released If ....Wizkid has not performed in Nigeria since last year !!! who is gaining and who is losing...


Wizkid , I beg of you , take us back to the days of no lele, Oluwa lo ni, ojuelegba, mummy mi, Holla at your boy , tease me.. We are tired of this your " Do what the teacher say don't come late " and reggaeton oyinbo vibes..

The bolded part of your message, is the mindset that still keeps Africa backwards. We believe the only way to reach out and appeal to global audience is to speak in foreign accents, sing like foreigners and act like foreigners. But I think that stems out of a wider inferiority complex and identity crisis issue.

This is exactly how we lose our brand, thinking we are pleasing others. You walk into a Nigerian club in London and they play 50:50 Nigerian-Foreign American songs #InferiorityComplex

I walked into the Jamaican stand at the London Nottinhill carnival some years back and they played only Jamaican songs, but when I proceeded to Nigerian stand, djjimmyjatt kept playing 70:30 American-Nigerian songs. The excuse was that they needed to accommodate non-Nigerian guests, but it's actually #InferiorityComplex

I don't think Wizzy has changed sound that much. I think he has that Sean Kingston style from day one...He is just exploring...

We have to give it to him, he is an all round Brand.. That earned him the collabo with Vybz Kartel.

I don't think Davido's issue came from Sony Music or wherever.

2014 was the year of Davido. Aye and Tchelete were 2 of the biggest songs on the continent. Davido was probably the most successful artiste that year. That kind of success is almost impossible to replicate.

Sometimes when we pray/wish for success, we should also pray/wish for the wisdom to continue in that path.

'IF' is huge though..
