EFCC denies former first lady from withdrawing $5.9million

By Newsdesk

Former Nigerian First Lady and the wife of former president Goodluck Godluck Jonathan, Patience Jonathan, has been denied from withdrawing from her Skye Bank account when she visited Maitama branch of the bank in Abuja on Monday to withdraw part of her $5.9million recently unfrozen by a Lagos High Court.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission(EFCC) had procured a stay-of-execution of the judgement and also simultaneously filed an appeal against the judgment given last week on 6 April by Justice Mojisola Olatoregun,

Reports gathered said that she visited the bank after her earlier visit on Friday 7 April. It was alleged that she wanted to withdraw as much as $1million, but was given $100,000 by the bank.

They are actually incompetent lots, they should have being ready for an appeal same moment that judgement was given.
Our laws need to be changed people must state how they come about the money with them, all politicians from Obasanjo, his farms down to present day.

Nigerian journalists and their poor reportage. How could she have withdrawn $100, 000 despite being denied access to her money? Or was it a gift from the bank?

the $100,000 was earlier withdrawn last week Friday, not today when she was denied total access to the money.

Anything could have happened between last week Friday and today sir.

Nice one. She shouldn't smell that money till the case is exhausted at the Supreme court where justice stands a slightly better chance to be obtained. You and I will work hard all year round and won't make N10m while someone who has no official job or handwork other than being close to power will be worth $21.5m. The annoying part is that the poorest of the poor and mostly the unemployed will be hailing her and still open that same smelly mouth to blame Nigeria or the govt for their woes. Your suffering continues till you change your attitude.

.....'m still perplexed how some brainless sycophants and jobless youths from ss/se regions was applauding her for withdraw her looted money while most of them are living in penury with very abysmal standard of living.Bayalsa state is the most underdeveloped state in nigeria, federal government should intervene in this case by confiscating her account and use the money to alleviate the plight of her people

I suggest the federal government should confiscate that account, and use it to rehabilitate all dilapidated federal roads in the southeast...what was her occupation and remuneration to have acquired upto 5.9million dollars..........multiple by current exchange rate with naira=2950000000naira

If I respond to u, ur goons would say I'm supporting corruption! Now d fact someone is way richer than u is no basis for judgement! Second i am trying my best not to recommend an IQ test or a copy of ur grade in logic!! The matter on ground is simple, EFCC did not charge her to court. All dat was left for dem to do was to connect d Dudafa laundery ring to Patience Jonathan's acct, in court and not on Nairaland. The EFCC could not do dat. The dudafa case itself has shown to be highly political, some accused pleaded guilty and later claimed dey wea pressured.

Don't let the world think all Nigerians are logically empty, just follow up d case before u form ur comments or opinion as a social commentator.

As for ur last line, dis govt has borrowed abt 15tn and plan to borrow more, so it's the money in contention that is suitable for use? Guy put whatever u have upstairs to use and stop backing lawlessness

Let's change d system! If u have steady income and d state takes care of ALL your expenditure for 16yrs, how much do u think would be in ur account? I repeat THINK
