The Truth after NYSC
My Story is like this After NYSC I was able to save small money but after few months my account started declining I couldn't get a job to double up luckily after a while I was able to get a useless teaching job of 20k which I could barely depend on that wasn't even my problem the problem was the money wasn't regular currently speaking the school still owes me 2 months salary.... I had to resign after a year working with school becos I couldn't cope with the salary irregularities and distance of school from my hous cuz its like 3km away from my house duh I go along with school bus... after i left the school i was able to get a sales job but i couldnt do it becos of personal reasons and the pressure involved...Now am currently dipping my hands into any online networking ponzi anything to get me money until Govt brings something tangible...becos right now there no job outside that can guarantee u financial independence... u have to step up if u have talent good use it to make money if u don't just find anything that will make I get money..as for me am waiting for God' call cuz I know the country will be better and Jobs will come but when I don't know...But I will advice everyone not to go for employment slavery jobs that won't upgrade u... and give thoughts like why am I working....THE COUNTRY IS HARD NOW ONLY IF YOU HAVE CONNECTIONS AND U ARE GOOD WITH HANDS WHICH IS CAPITAL INCLUSIVE MY BROTHER THAT'S WHAT IS BRINGING MONEY NOW...GIRLS DON'T HAVE PROBLEM AS SUCH AFTER NYSC THE SMART ONES MARRY AFTER, USE THEIR BRAIN TO GET MONEY...BUT BOYS NA WE DEY SUFFER AM

1) Your parents are comfortable, may even be rich to an extent
2) You have access to money, enough money.

Madame, in this case we are talking about people who don't have any money, people who their parents don't even have enough to feed themselves, not to mention sending to their children as pocket money.

What saed did you do? Get any manageable job available, e.g security guard, teacher, factory worker, etc; save and open your own business. No short cut bro. You sound like nobody told you during your service year that there are no jobs, and so you should do saed to get empowered towards wealth creation. Personally, I hate it when young graduates scream "I've served my country" like the service is a magical stick that brings automatic wealth! Get down and do something-anything. Creat your future. Now my answer: after nysc service, serve yourself, work!

I wished my message reached all corp members in their various camps or place of primary assignment. You can read my post where I offered some solutions on what can be done. I have got lots of threads which can be of benefit to people.

I will be passing out in a month's time and surprisingly I don't have a CV yet. Don't blame me, the thought of looking for job never seem appealing to me even if looking for it is imminent. Like some rightly observed above, making yourself marketable is the best bet. What matter most is not your certificate but what you can offer. Don't stop learning and anything you want to do, be on the Internet. Never underestimate the power of online presence.
I wish all 2016 Batch A Stream 2 successful POP

Right now, my targets are the final year students or penultimate year students so that they don't find themselves in conditions like this. Many of them still feel on top of the world when they are in their final years but not knowing that life just began after graduating. I will rather advice that instead of spending internet time on many of these social media we have around, try use it for something that adds value. You can always use social media to relax but make sure you also add value to yourself. You can start to develop skills through the internet. Many youtube videos are there to watch where you can learn one or two things. You can start sending emails to schools abroad to inquire of their programs, what you can do, how you can get financial aid and so on. For business savvy individuals, you can start browsing the internet for information on businesses to do, business ideas, business plans and so on. For those that will be looking for jobs, you can start getting information on passing job interviews, writing a good resume and so on. Read informative threads on nairaland where you can make money online doing legitimate freelancing with your skills. For example, if you know how to write well, you could try fiverr and so on. Although you need to be guided in some cases, seek counsel, seek advice, buy informative materials, buy information or browse for free information.
To be sincere, the country is becoming harder everyday and you only need to be tough and determined to make the best out of yourself. It is well.

NYSC should be a year of easing off pressure whilst you save for life after NYSC.

The mistake most of us make is returning back home to our parents. That, my brothers and sisters, is the beginning of our problems, it paves way for contentment and, in extension, poverty.

DONT RETURN BACK TO YOUR PARENTS HOUSE AFTER NYSC.

think and stay independent

.Every Nigerian student that means well for himself or herself should have a plan even before the NYSC. What next actually?? Looking for jobs that aren't even available. My sister will be in 200L this November and I have been reminding her to follow my own footsteps, which is SAVING, yes!!! Saving for "what next after NYSC"
I have always told my friends that going back to school after Bsc isn't for me, not in a country like Nigeria, as far as am concerned it is still waste of time undecided
If you're the type that believes in white collar job, I think it's time u fasten your seat belt and trust God for a good job. As for me I already know what next cheesy I'd have saved 400k by the time am done with service. With the help of my parents I should be able to set up my fashion business with nothing less than 1million.
If you're still in school and u don't wanna get stranded after service pls try saving some money, encourage your parents to support you with whatever business you wanna set up after NYSC. Hope this helps.
That fashion business you see isn't as easy as it sounds o well unless u hv laid out plans

My experience with Youth Corps members over the years has been somewhat devastating and my heart bleed for the future of our great nation. It has become so glaring that education stops for most corps member as soon as they graduate / finish NYSC. Ask some of them that have passed out what they learnt during their one year orientation, Nothing! Except for some selected few that are wise enough to take their destiny into their own hand.

Many thing to say but I will not utter such here because no matter what you say, it will be rebuffed but those who know what im saying will know that no matter how many points or truth you pointed out, you will still be lashed.

Wonderful and educative comments. I'm really learning from other people's comments.

To be sincere I've been troubleshooting my brain on what to do in other to get income. I got a new laptop early this year with the intention of using it for any online business but as I'm typing now, it is laying useless on the table.

I've been thinking and praying for God to show me the way. Since this week I've been restless (always thinking). I'm presently in my cousin's place in Lagos, and it's expected of me to be going out in the morning and returning in the evening. Transportation is really eating me deep without any income at the end of the day.

Please anyone that has a tangible business be it online or offline that can at least bring income no matter how small, I will greatly appreciate.

I'm thinking of even enrolling for an ICT training to boost my skills and worth. With this comments that are flooding everywhere, I know I'm not alone, there are so many people together with me aboard this ship.

Thanks ones again as I wait for a possible solution...!!!

Acquire relevant skills while in School. Don't forget that you can also make money as a Student.

The issue is not that there are no jobs, there are jobs out there(Fiver,Craigslist, Upwork etc) but you need to prioritize and know what you want.

Note,if you possess any of this, you will hardly go broke:

a) Specialized Knowledge (knowing what others don't know)

b)Specialise Skill(Possessing Skills that others don't possess eg Web Design,Apps Development, Ethical Hacking,Plumbing, Phone Repairs,Laptop Repairs, Car Repairs etc)

c) Specialize Product ( it is not compulsory you buy a product, you can sell for companies and get your commission)

There is money in Nigeria, if Nigeria economy is behaving funny, then think global.

Read about Bitcoin, Forex,Palm Kernel/Palm Oil Business,Agric. Produce Sales/Storage Business,Binary Options,Mini Importation, Domain name sales,Crypto-currency trading etc.

Just Think( avoid Yahoo, make your money legitimately)
