Ogun State Police Command has arrested a suspected Internet fraud suspect identified as Abiodun Joseph, who replaced Oe’o of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, on Facebook and duped two Nigerian ladies of various sums of money, money.
The suspect was allegedly arrested on Wednesday, April 19, 2017 in Ilese, Ijebu North East Local Government.

Joseph was parading alongside three armed thieves and abductors at the state command headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, on Monday.

The suspect had deceived the ladies, who were based in the United States of America, in the sum of N600,000, which was paid by money transfer.

In procuring the suspects, State Police Commissioner Ahmed Iliyasu said that Joseph had used his Facebook accounts and Whatsapp to disconcert unsuspecting members of the public.

He said his men had the wind of the illegal act of the 26-year-old suspect and took action.

He said: “During an interrogation, he owned the crime and confessed that he had defrauded the women of N600,000.”

While speaking with PUNCH Metro, Joseph said he had opened the Facebook account in October 2016 to defraud people.

He said he downloaded the Ooni images from the Internet and used them on the Facebook account, adding that in no time, the ladies began to send him queries, commenting on his beautiful appearance.

Joseph revealed that many women had asked him to want to be his oloris wives, thinking it was genuine, adding that he had exploited their despair to defraud some of them.
