After Abdulmutallab attempted terrorist attract, a well thought out plan from the us would have made all the difference.

From day one Obama have set out to play Mr. Nice Guy. He is taking all the heat at home (even from his supporters) but he is still going on fine. The best strategy from us (Nigeria) would have been immediately we had the news, all Nigeria's relevant offices will reach out to their counterparts in US - from Embassies, Foreign Affair, Security, Senate and The Presidency reassuring them that we are doing all that is needed to get to the base of the matter and we are open to corporate with them to prevent future occurrence. From that point the tempo is set. I mean this is how nations cooperate.

But sadly, no president, unactivated Acting President and the worst; every fellow in Nigeria started distancing themselves from the guy. It became Hausa/Igbo/Yoruba affair and to make matter worst some people started coming up with hypothesis of how the guy is not a Nigerian (when the father is a former bank chief), turning the blame to CIA for doing nothing about the dad's complains (which many still view as staged) and when the US govt included us in a list of nations they should be careful of, our Senators now start threatening with ultimatum to a Super-power as if to validate their fear that extremist have a state support.

This a bad strategy. I know there is power vacuum but we deserve a lot better than this show of shame.
