1. number one on my list goes to Harrison Okene. He was a Nigerian sailor/chef, when a tugboat he was on sank. Divers went searching THREE days after the boat sank, only then they found a survivor. He was in a small air pocket 100 feet under the surface. Never could I imagine a man being trapped a 100 feet under the surface for 3 days, and surviving.

Once he was found, divers were nervous he would panic during the rescue. He had been breathing dangerous levels of nitrogen, and had never used scuba equipment. Harrison thought it had only been 12–14 hours before he found out he had been buried under the sea for 60 hours. Once resurfacing, Harrison was reunited with his family and now has vowed to “never return to the sea.”

2. This man right here is Tsutomu Yamaguchi


He survived both the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki. I guess that doesn’t really count as the OP states “thing” and these are two separate events but whatever.

Anyways, Yamaguchi was in Hiroshima for a business trip. He was about to return back home but as he was about to leave he realized that he forgot to bring his stamp of passage, so he went to get it. Soon after, the bomb was dropped only three kilometers away and he was badly burned by the blast.

However, officials did not consider him wounded enough to be hospitalized so he was told to return to work at home…in Nagasaki.

He told his boss about the “explosion in Hiroshima”. But his boss said that his tale was too far-fetched. “No bomb could destroy an entire city,” he insisted.

And then the second bomb hits, yet again only three kilometers away, and ironically the boss now experiences it firsthand. Yamaguchi yet again survived, and this time without a scratch. His bandages, however, were not as unscathed and he had to get them replaced.

Apart from fever and vomiting Yamaguchi did not display any life-threatening symptoms and he lived to the age of 93, eventually dying from stomach cancer.

3. A dude survived an 18-inch drill bit going clean through his head.

The following photo is not edited at all! It is just a teeny-tiny 18-Inch Drill Bit going through a dude’s head. Pretty normal right? *shrugs*

In 2003, California construction worker Ron Hunt was working a spot that required him to balance on a ladder with a massive chip auger drill. Unfortunately, the ladder was like, you can't stand on me, dumbhead! I'll let you know what happens when you torture a frickin’ ladder.

The ladder broke.

Fortunately, the fall was cushioned…..by his goddamn drill bit. And guess what? He fell face first and the bit passed right through the eye-socket and then, the skull! In on one side, out of the other!

Amazingly, he survived this Final-Destination type incident. What is more ridiculously hilarious is that he didn't realise how damned he was. Soon, his hand met the drill bit on his face and then he freaked out, quite understandably! His workers freaked out too, and took him to a doc. Probably the nurses and doctors and nurses freaked out too. They didn't know what to do!

Every-friggin’-body freaks out

After a few minutes of What the hell do we do, the doctors made up a plan. They would cut out the pieces jutting out and extract the rest surgically. But they changed the plan midway. As the bit was not fixed in the head but quite loose, they unscrewed the frickin’ thing right outta the head.

Slowly. Unsrewed. The. Giant drill bit.

However, the drill bit had pushed aside the grey, squishy innards of the man. And thus he was safe! And remarkably healthy for a man who has just inserted a drill-bit into his goddamn eye-socket, except for a black-hole in the back of his head.

However, his medical insurance didn't cover anything like driving a 18-inch drill into the eye and getting it out of the other side. So he was shitloads deep in medical expenses. However, people took pity on this poor man and organised funds for him, effectively helping him pay off the bills and live a normal, albeit eyeless life!

4. Survived a fall from 10,160 m (33,333 ft), without parachute, now a Guiness World Record

Vesna Vulović was 23 and working as a Aero transport hostess when she survived a fall from 10,160 m (33,333 ft) over Srbská Kamenice, Czechoslovakia (now Czech Republic), on 26 January 1972. According to the official accident report, an explosion tore the DC-9 she was working aboard to pieces in mid-air. Vulović was the only survivor.
She was in hospital for 16 months after emerging from a 27 day coma and having many bones broken.

5. A man in Oregon, went to the doctor. He complained about a headache. Well, that doesn't sound that strange does it?

This guy though, is very special.

He survived even though there were twelve nails embedded in his skull.

The 33-year old man got depressed and tried to commit suicide with a nail gun. One nail didn’t really work out apparently, so he kept going on.

Surgeons removed the nails with needle-nosed pliers and a drill, and the man survived with no serious lasting effects, according to a report on the medical oddity in the current issue of the Journal of Neurosurgery.

The nails range from 1.5 to 2 inches long and were only visible on the X-rays they took.

No one before is known to have survived after intentionally firing so many foreign objects into the head, according to the report, written by Dr. G. Alexander West, the neurosurgeon who oversaw the treatment of the patient.
