So, I was sitting down and minding my business, then a message came in to my phone, the message reads thus;

From this number:: +2348131394893

ACCOUNT BLOCK:Dear customer due to our BVN system upgrade,your ATM card has just been De-activate to Re-activate kindly call CBN customer care 07062983399 now.

To me, I know it's a scam but just want to know the new format they use grin . So, I decided to put a call through
and as soon as I dialled the digits, the true caller app brought "bvn fraudster" undecided undecided . But I persisted, so a man picked and I told him I got a message about my account that's about to be blocked.
So, he asked which bank I'm banking with *as if he works with all the banks*, so I told him first bank. He then asked how much do I have in my account ? I told him 150K ( when I know there's no dine there grin ).
He asked if I have another account(s), I said no.

So, he asked if I'm with my ATM card, I said yes.
He asked if I can see one long number on the card * lol, that's my card number ooo *, I said yes.

So, I heard his colleague telling him something, then he immediately ended the call.

We didn't finish our conversation though, but I really enjoyed it and learnt from it.

Please kindly share if you have any experience with these guys or fraudsters

My question is, why and what is the essence of doing phone number registration if it can't be used to nab people like these?
