â–ªGovernor Wike flags off dredging/sand filling and land reclamation in Abalama and Bakana towns

Rivers State Governor, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has advised the All Progressives Congress (APC) to assume the responsibility of performance conferred on them by their victory during the 2015 Presidential election and desist from giving flimsy excuses.

Governor Wike spoke on Friday while flagging off the dredging/sand filling and reclamation of Abalama in Asari-Toru Local Government Area and dredging/Sand filling and Reclamation of Bakana in Degema Local Government Area.

The projects in Abalama and Bakana towns span 38 hectares.

Governor Wike said that the Rivers State Government is redefining politics in Nigeria by ensuring that campaign promises are kept.

He said at the separate flag off of the land reclamation projects: "We are redefining the pattern of politics in Nigeria. You cannot use people and dump them.

"We cannot give everyone money, but we can execute projects that everybody will benefit from."

Speaking on the failure of the APC Federal Government to live up to the expectation of Nigerians, he said: "We are not like those said they will make one naira to be equal one dollar . Instead of actualizing their promise, they are busy giving excuses".

The governor urged the APC Federal Government to settle down and focus on fulfilling the several promises they made to Nigerians.

He said that the APC got the mandate on the strength of their promises to Nigerians, saying that it was uncharitable for the APC Government to be finger pointing when it should be working.

"Instead of working to alleviate the suffering of Nigerians, they are blaming the previous administration", he said.
.

The Governor said the dredging, standfiling and reclamation projects which run through the three Kalabari local government areas, will entrench development in the area.

"The last time I came here for campaign I promised that if you support me to win, I will carry out some projects. That is why I have come to fulfil my promise" Governor Wike asserted.

"We in PDP, when we make promise, we fulfill it. Tell those who make promise and never fulfill them not to come and deceive you" he further stated.

Governor Wike urged the people of the community to support the company undertaking the project to complete it on schedule . He also advised the company to reciprocate by providing jobs for the youths of the town.

He also announced that the sum of five hundred million Naira has been released to complete the Degema General Hospital, pointing out that he will liaise with the Commissioner of Police to build a police station in the community to forestall insecurity.

In Abalama, he announced that his administration will construct the Telma-Ifoko Road.

In his remarks, the State Commissioner for Works, Mr. Bathuel Iheayichukwu Harrison pointed out that the reclamation of the nineteen hectares of land, when completed will ease the difficulties faced by the people of Bakana.

Also speaking, the Managing Director of Azikel Dredging, contractor handling the project, Dr. Eruani Azibapu Godbless thanked Governor Wike for giving him the opportunity to contribute to the development of the state, promising to complete the project within five months.

In his welcome address, the Chairman, Caretaker Committee of Degema Local Government Area, Mr Ombo Benebo expressed gratitude to Governor Wike for the land reclamation project.

In appreciation of the life changing land reclamation project, the Amanyanabo of Abalama, King Big TomTom conferred on Governor Wike the Chieftaincy Title: "Ibiyenimibo 1 of Abalama ".

Governor Wike was accompanied by Deputy Governor Ipalibo Harry Banigo, the former Deputy Speaker, Federal House of Representatives, Hon. Austin Opara, former Minister of Sports, Dr. Tammy Danagogo and elder statesman, Prince Emma Anyanwu.

It's only in non APC states that we still read news of development and governance.
The only news one is getting from APC states are 12 to 15 months salaries owed, workers strikes, pensioners demonstrating for their pensions, etc.
This is two years of APC and one can't really hold unto anything tangible achieved by this govt.
The opposite of anything they promise ends up happening.
