I believe you.
Exactly what I had in mind to say.

This is where you expect Niger Delta moneybags to invest in to have control in the industries........but I don't expect much from them.

Outsiders wll invest instead and they will continue to scream "exploitation".

Chain,APC n recycling of ideas Na waoh!,this was the same n complete reworking of the refineries that Johnathan awarded, it was to last for about 18months,immediately APC came to power it was termed corruption n revoked with the promise of repairing the refineries in 3months,the refineries were reopened with fanfare only for them to breakdown few weeks later, now you are shamelessly going back to the same PDP model n want to take credit for it,so who is actually clueless?,the so call corruption fight is just a guise to compensate the APC investors.

The bid is open to only experienced organizations the the required finance.

As far as gvt is in charge of d refineries of Nigeria it will never work. The recent breakdown of Warriors refinery was caused by d managing director himself. Even wen the operators told him that it was going to cause explosion shld the production orders be carried out. The Yoga insisted that they go ahead that FG had a target to meet .so d poor workers were left with no option than to do d orders to save their jobs and the end result was explosion. Since then warriors refinery has been down . Now come and see hardship in d homes of those who do business in d depot. The shld pls hand all d refineries to capable hands that can manage it for d poor Masses not cabal.

Kachukwu might have just struck the best deal yet.

If I am to suggest to the Technical Committee and the Minister of Petroleum, the investor is to [b]RECOUP HIS INVESTMENT ON ADDITIONAL PRODUCTION.

This should be the base line condition for awarding the winning bid.

For instance, if the Kaduna refinery has an installed capacity of 200million liters of PMS per day, the investor gains nothing until production exceeds 200million liters per day or some agreed capacity, say 85% installed capacity.

This like saying the investor earns 15kobo for every 100kobo invested per every liter produced

This will ultimately bring benefits to the country and the refineries as they will be refurbished and made to work accordingly. It will force further investment to increase production which will be recouped by efficient running of existing installed capacity and added capacity via better technology or processes to improve yield per unit barrel of crude oil.

This way both parties, country and investors win.

The Power Minister, Mr Fashola should as a matter of fact review all previous agreement and bring them to this minimum standard. Then only will you see the much needed investment in the sector, as they do know that no profit comes to them until they exceed installed capacity or agreed capacity say 85% of installed generating capacity, 85% of evacuation capacity, 85% of penetration capacity.

They will outdo each other to invest and make profit then, and it will eliminate briefcase types of investors as real work and committement will be required to achieve this sort of contract which is not something a briefcase investor looks out for

Hey, hey, hey before you get all excited and probably fart unintentionally, the refinery business is not exactly hot cake in the world of investment. There is presently a global overcapacity and Nigeria is not exactly Norway. 3 of the 4 refineries are located in 'Indian Country'. The fourth will require divine intervention to receive a steady supply of crude when your power stations closer cannot get regular gas. You don't have an attractive product. Your refineries are as suitable as a 50 year old divorcee with a bad attitude. Abeg tone down the bride price.....and the expectation of hitching Prince Charming..... no be today our refineries dey find husband.

.... the refinery business is not exactly hot cake in the world of investment. and Dangote is building the biggest refinery and petrochemical plant in Lagos.

Are you more business savvy than Dangote?

Do you know the daily consumption for PMS, DPK and AGO for Nigeria and to what extent the demand is being met?

Have you gauged the size of the West African Market? Do you know we have Nigerian off takers of refined product from Côte d’Ivoire refinery?

The oldest refinery today is still in production my dear, it is all about maintenance culture any good engineer will tell you this.

So quit the age factor.

I am sure you haven't worked or been anywhere close to the refineries? I previously worked in KRPC and WRPC and I can tell you, they were built with the future in mind and can still deliver with a serious maintenance program and shrewd management.

Lastly, kiddo stop your social media slurs.

Argue intelligently without vile words, language or mien of condescension.

Your opinion. Mine is simple. Refinery business is not hot cake worldwode. Do your research. Dangote's investment decision was made on the presumption of total failure of the NIGERIA's refining capacity. He is setting out to monopolise the system. The fact that Nigeria imports all its refined products does not translate to the level of risk involved in buying moribund assets and turning them around in such a tough environmemt. If the business was so, so attractive they would have been sold a long time ago. Same thing they have been talking about Ajaokuta. It cannot be sold because the market for steel products is not there. There has been over supply globally for decades. Who will buy a scrap plant when even functional ones are going out of business. If the government doesn't sweeten the deal, forget it. No one will buy. You are asking a poorly maintained plant built in the seventies and early eighties to over produce before returning investment on top. You must be joking.
