I pay my taxes, light bill, never give bribe to meter readers, or mess with my meter, and that's why I have constant power.

No power to get on internet so Nigerians can't post

Anyway its prolly non existent here. I run on Generator for most part of the day and its not funny at all. Very expensive.
Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by Seun(m): 12:21pm On Jan 31, 2007
My only problem with running a generator is the noise. Electricity shouldn't be free. The expense can be reduced by disconnecting unecessary electrical appliances and using efficient gadgets like flourescent lights.

The power supply in my area is pathetic - it comes on briefly only during the evening. But the powers that be in my place of residence have insisted that I mustn't buy a petrol generator, so I have to manage my 6 hour inverter.
Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by lafile(m): 12:31pm On Jan 31, 2007
When i leave for work by 6.00am, there's usually power. And i hear it runs throughout the day except for 1 or 2 hours. However, when i get back from work say around 7.00pm, theres never power. And we stay in the dark until say 1.00am the next day. Weekends are usually without power supply. In other words, When theres power, I am never at home. When I am at home, theres never power. Thats the story of my life. By the way, my bill is about N2500 monthly.

Power supply in my area is almost non existent. just imagine, we have power for an average of 2hrs a day n We're talkin of industrialization, I think our country's greatest setback are its citizens followed closely by almost zero power supply

Power supply?
Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by Grouppoint(m): 3:48pm On Jan 31, 2007
I have a place in Lagos. Its empty for most of the year, but yet I am made to pay N15,000 per month for electricity.

Is this normal for VGC? There's is no meter on the road, and it appears that they are stalling because the meter installation would greatly reduce my bill.

Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by goodguy(m): 9:48pm On Jan 31, 2007
Last year was very pathetic. In my home, we usually spent about N100,000 per month on diesel alone!

I thank God they improved this year. We've been having light for a minimum of 12 hrs per day, and about 18 - 22 hrs maximum since this year began. But since the beginning of this week (Sunday), it's been a different story entirely. We only have light for like 6 - 10 hrs everyday. Even right now as I type, we're on generator.

I just hope they come back to their senses fast.

Is it true that Nigeria is exporting electricity to some African country ??
Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by Seun(m): 11:13pm On Jan 31, 2007
Some African "countries" are only as large as Nigerian towns and we probably supply electricity to their capitals only.
Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by showbobo(m): 3:12am On Feb 01, 2007
Electricity in my area is ok.atleast i normally have light 23hrs in a day.i heard Nigeria supplies Republic of Benin electricity but i dont know how true it is.
Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by JosBoy4Lif(m): 3:18am On Feb 01, 2007
It's not just Benin Republic
Other neighbouring countries get supplied Electricity from Nigeria.

It's called money and politics
Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by makin(m): 8:56am On Feb 01, 2007
Power situation is quite fair in my area of Lagos, on the average we have 18 hours of electricity per day, but since November i fixed an alternative power solution[Inverter] because i now work from home, its noiseless, fumeless and cost effective.
Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by bigspif(m): 9:24am On Feb 01, 2007

Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by Ndipe(m): 10:02am On Feb 01, 2007
Na wao, strangely, I used to miss Naija for the erratic supply of electricity because it was fun playing under the moon at night with my friends. Not anymore. 100k for diesel? Seriously, how much are you even earning a month to afford such a collosal amount of money for diesel alone? I am not surprised to read that Naija supplies electricity to some African countries. Naija Govt's priorities have always been misplaced, for as long as I can remember.
Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by layi(m): 10:18am On Feb 01, 2007

imagine with over 5billion spent on NEPA nothin dey improve
The 5billion was not spent ON nepa. It was spent FOR Nepa -on its behalf. wink

@ndipe.
Misplace priorites for sure.

First we supply fuel, yet we lack
we supply electricity, yet we lack

Which kain country be this sef? This is annoying o. Somebody better do something b4 i call osama to blow up aso rock.
Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by kinzolic(m): 12:17pm On Feb 01, 2007

Re: How Is The Power Supply In Your Area? by naija4life(f): 2:09pm On Feb 01, 2007
I get light 24 hrs/day

On very rare occasions (like 1nce in 6 months), when there's no light, it normally lasts for 5-10 mins max.

And there's nothing like half or low current/voltage, watever
