This is the reasoning of a Nigerian. But if I asked you why Igbos consider Ojukwu their greatest hero, you wont be able to answer. Thats is to tell you that we are different people and one Nigeria does not exist
Let me ask you a question prof, what makes ojukwu a hero? and what is the dictionary definition of a hero and a coward?

Ojukwu cannot have a forgiving heart because he didn't lose anything during the war. infact He is a very very very very very very wicked man for sacrificing 3.5 million children. the darkest part of hell is reserved for him forever

You mean the 3.5 million Nigeria killed in the name of 'one Nigeria'?

What many may not know is that Ojukwu had a Masters degree from Oxford when he joined Nigeria Army and he was also the first Graduate to join,so he reasoning was way above his contemporaries and for those thinking that he was selfish, his father was the Dangote of that time,so he had much to lose, patrotism was the key and such brave men as he are rare.
the only thing he learned at oxford is how to sacrifice 3.5 million people for his inordinate and destructivelust for power, a power he was not willing to sacrifice his liberty for

Ojukwu who sacrificed his people to fight a war he could never win. He played on the thoughtless brashness of his clansmen and abandoned them towards the end. They are quick to draw blood and even quicker to play the victim.

That is how you become a hero in Biafra.
Don't mind my fellow Igbos. they still see him as a god who can do no wrong just because he declared biafra. well, I don't blame them, I blame gowon for taking over the schools in the eastern region from the missionaries and teaching them stupidity!

YOU REASON THROUGH YOUR ANUS, DID OJUKWU UNILATERALLY DECLARE BIAFRA? WHERE YOU NOT TOLD HE WAS FORCED BY THE ELDERS.OWING TO INCIDENCES THAT TOOK PLACE UP NORTH. EWU MEH LIKE YOU.
forget those elders bro. if ojukwu were not power drunk, those elders wouldn't have forced him to declare biafra. he wanted power, saw his chance, took it, sacrificed 3.5 million people on an illusion and after the show, ran away like a coward to cote d' ivoire! case closed. ask yourself this question, why did he not sacrifice his personal freedom and liberty for biafra like nelson Mandela and co?

Fighting is for Nigerian not Biafrans. 50 years ago, Ojukwu told Nigeria that instead of fighting and killing each other, a referendum should be conducted so the people can choose. Gowon started shouting 'one Nigeria' and started a war by ordering troops into the Eastern Region.

50 years later, Kanu and IPOB are once again saying referendum so that the people can decide

Again, you Nigerians have started shouting 'one Nigeria' and talking about war

Ojukwu fought for the freedom and independence of his people and that is why thw vast majority of his people and that makes him a hero for us.

You may call him a coward because he didnt stay back to die but for us, him fighting hard for three years against impossible odds makes him the bravest Igbo man ever.

you are beating around the bush. ojukwu didn't demand for a referendum, he unilaterally declared biafra, undermining gowon's authority in the process. if you were gowon you will do what he did! After all, ironsi dealt with boro. and please don't ever compare kanu with ojukwu again. ojukwu never sacrificed anything for biafra but kanu has sacrificed his personal liberty and has paid his dues. Also, 3.5 million people didn't die for his beliefs

You are very funny. Any man can do what he did if given the opportunity, but no sane igbo man will be willing to let 3.5 million people to die for his beliefs, I mean, whom will you rule at the end?. people like you call jonathan a coward for conceding defeat, but jonathan is head and shoulders above your hero ojukwu times 10. why? because he relinquished power to save the lives of his people! if he wanted a second term, he would've got it,No power on earth could stop, but he also knew that thousands if not millions of people will die in the process. that's a real hero, not your impulsive, megalomaniac and demagoguery coward, ojukwu ( according to the americans). if ojukwu were the leader of the yoruba and hausas, wouldn't you be happy that their people were killed? if ojukwu sacrificed his personal liberty for biafra, I would understand, but hey he ran away! why run away if you know what you want. not only that, he contested elections in Nigeria thereby completing his own humiliation!. think deeply bro. don't be impulsive and emotive like your 'hero'

I don't know about then, but at least I know now

You guys don't get things in Nigeria because you don't do things the right way

Sincerely I wish Igbos can get their Biafra and go, It won't be victory for Igbos alone, it will be victory for all - Less Noise and agitations everyday, Less enemity and hate speeches, and then they can finally develop their reigions, since they are the 'Developers' helping us to develop our own, Let them go use the expertise their. We really need lesser people in Lagos and some other states.

If you people are serious about Biafra, do it the right way, Let your Leaders Push for the referendum, Your Governors, Your Senators and Representatives, Your Influential people, If they are serious about it, The discussion will move to another level

#But your leaders don't want it
#Your Governors don't want it
#Your Traders and business people don't want it
#Igbos have more to lose in secession that any other tribe in Nigeria because they're the most scattered Both people and investments all over Nigeria
#If you're serious all of you will firstly move back to your regions
#It's an unnecessary agitation to get attention, it's all noise of Marginalization
#There was nothing like Biafra when Jonathan was ruling and people in power were mostly Igbos. Nobody cared then that Jonathan sidelined the Yoruba race, but all of a sudden everyone is shouting Biafra and marginalization when you lost power (Even Nnamdi Kanu was speaking as a 'NIGERIAN' From one of his videos in Uk before Jonathan lost, suddenly Nigeria turned to Zoo after the lose)

If you're serious take the right steps, Nnamdi Kanu and his poor IPOB youths cannot achieve anything tangible than causing obstructions and becoming a mild Boko Haram.Get the attention of people who shoould be pushing the cause and you will achieve it.

You need to brush up on your Nigerian history because if you did you would know that Ojukwu offered Ojukwu offered Gowon referendum before the war and throughout the war. Infact, early on in the war, the then president of Ethiopia, Emperor Selassie, tried to broker peace by calling Ojukwu and Gowon to a peace meeting. At that meeting, Ojukwu offered a ceasefire if Gowon agreed to a referendum. Gowon said it must be 'one Nigeria' or nothing. 'One Nigeria' is a term for slavery, it is like telling people that they have no right to decide their destiny. It is because of this useless British colonial jargon called 'one Nigeria' that Gowon mobilised the Nigerian Army to go to East and kill 3.5 million people. Nigeria justified its existence at the cost of millions, thats why it should not be a country. No country should cost millions to be together.

Just like George Washington led the American war of independence to free America from Britain, Just like King Bruce led the Scottish war of independence to free Scotland from England, So did Ojukwu lead his people in a war to liberate them from Hausa/Fulani controlled Nigeria. The only difference is that while the other two were successful, Ojukwu was not. Today, both America and Scotland are doing well while the colonial contraption Gowon was fighting to keep together has not progressed an inch since he won the war. We are still as divided as ever, we dont love each other, we are a country but not a nation. One Nigeria has proved not to be worth the paper it is written on, vindicating Ojukwu.

Freedom is an honour to fight for, as a Nigerian, you will not be able to understand that. That is why you will not understand why Ojukwu is a hero to his people.

I see. What referendum made you a Nigerian? Where did you leaders push for a referendum so that you can be a Nigerian today? You are advicing Biafrans to seek referendum while accepting the fraud that made you a Nigerian. You are telling Igbos how to go about getting out of a fraudulent British colonial contraption they never formally agreed to be part of?

Nigeria is but the illegal colonial creation of the white man and we Igbos and the minorities who are comfortable with us make no apologies for seeking to exit the failed British contraption called Nigeria.

The onky sense you made was that there should be a referendum

Okay, take the alternative route then...bring out your cutlass, your guns, Bomb anything and keep fighting Nigeria. You called Nigeria zoo, I gave you the fastest logical option to get out of zoo, you're complaining...So what do you want to do now? disrupt our zoo for us? I for one, am tired of your agitations, that's why I'm giving you guys free advise on the fastest route out.

if only you god who can do no wrong were a man of principles, he wouldn't have abandoned those dead people. defending ojukwu doesn't change the fact that his actions and inactions is directly responsible for the present rot in igbo land. My problem with him is not his audacity, but his unwillingness to sacrifice his personal freedom and liberty for what he believed in, what millions died just for his sake. I repeat, if ojukwu really wanted biafra, he would ve gotten it. ojukwu himself knows it. he could've steped down and allowed the UN to conduct a referndum. he could have negotiated a truce. even when he fled to cote d'ivoire, he could vé kept the dream alive by soliciting the help of the international community on plight of his war ravaged brethren. he even could vé demanded for a referendum at cote d ivoire! that is why I get sad when people defend him. I mean, how can you defend someone who clearly does not have a stand? how can someone be a biafran and then die a Nigerian? Isn't it stupidity? or childishness? defending such a person is akin to one exposing himself to unnecessary ridicule! ojukwu is a deep man. it is only a wise man that can understand his actions and the motives behind it
