lekbel09: Unity beggar. You don't like Yorubas and vice versa too. 3 Dead, 40 Vehicles Burnt As Yoruba, Igbos Clash in Lagos About 40 vehicles have been burnt in the clash between Yorubas and Igbos in Mushin area of Lagos as the army and police moved in to the quell the violence. Affected streets are Odushina, by Oloje; Dramola Street, Olapeju, Oshoro, Akinwunmi and Ladipo Market. Residents in the affected areas were said to have fled to avoid being caught in the mayhem. The streets have been deserted as police and men of the OP-MESSA took over. An Armoured Personnel Carrier, APC, was cited in one of the streets. A police source said he counted 40 vehicles burnt and several others with broken screens. People have taken refuge in their houses as shops were hurriedly shut by their owners who fled to safety. Trouble started when one Agunleri, who is the Secretary of one of the market unions allegedly stormed an area where Yoruba traders were selling their wares and began to upturn the wares on the guise that Governor Akinwunmi Ambode was coming to the area for a function and that there was need for the place to be cleaned up. One of the Yoruba traders, a male was said to have challenged him on why he was upturning their wares. He was alleged to have stabbed the Yoruba man in the process. A source said other Igbo traders were mobilized to the scene and allegedly attacked the Yoruba populace, burning vehicles and destroying properties. About 15 people were said to have been stabbed and rushed to the hospital for medical attention. An eyewitness confirmed that 3 people have been declared dead at about 8:30pm. http://thesummary.com.ng/index.php/news-categories/national/item/7076-3-dead-40-vehicles-burnt-as-yoruba-igbos-clash-in-lagos-photos |

Gotze1: I can bet with anything I have that he can never mention anything they have in their region unless he want to mention MoU for exportation of Ugwu or those low quality Aba shoes. It's only someone that hasn't be to their barren land they will be bamboozling. I have been to 3 states in Igboland and what I saw were too depressing. Many people are living in extreme abject poverty in Igboland as worse as Almajiri if not worse than. It is only in Igboland I saw a family of five feeding on Mango for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Their chestbeating is disgustingly nauseating 2 Likes |

sekxy: My dear we all are responsible. We are all "failures" collectively. Our leaders are to blame yes, but we too contribute. Trust me sekxy, we are better together. In the 80's Nigerians that go to london and US to study, they beg them to stay and they refused and returned back to naija, that was when Naija was really really good. You will travel from Owerri to Sokoto with no money and strangers will help and assist you along the way, and even accommodate you. One more thing Sekxy, i am muslim and from the North ok, some years back, in a remote city in America, in the summer, you have flea markets where things are displayed on the street, i saw an Ibo man selling different stuff from Africa on the street, soaps, perfumes, clothes etc, i introduced myself as naija the North, he was so overjoyed, he said he wanted to go use the washroom since but couldn't leave, he begged me to stay showed me (a stranger) where he kept his sales money in a register and told me prices of some items and a book of prices and left for food, toileting etc all because i am a Nigerian like him. It was indeed beautiful and showed our togetherness. You need to experience it for you to know we are one and you are not better than a fulani girl neither is Dangote's daughter in anyway better than you, we are one and the same. Lastly, pls listen to Onyeka Onwenu's "One Love" Its from me, a Northerner to you, my dear Sekxy. 1 Like |

Whoever is forming shocked is deceiving him/herself. It was only a matter of time before things get to this point. Igbos have been having a field day insulting the rest of us even the SS, now people are clapping back at them and heaven should fall abi? How many times did we tell them to caution kanu and ipob youths? What the igbo elders failed to realise that if you don't secure your wild dog, you will be held responsible for any damage it causes. There was a story/rumour of a cow named buhari by ipob youths in a popular newspaper and the fact that igbo elders went dumb, probably enjoying the pun was not only a disgrace to the word elder but to the igbo tribe in general. Igbos stop making enemies for yourself and if you decide to seceede it shouldn't be by making irreparable damage in relations to those who would be your neighbors. |

Nigerians as a collective are the most backward group of people on this planet. The country with the largest black population on the planet yet again shows itself as a great embarrassment. With all the educated people in that country, you still allow tribalism to order your thoughts. It is sickening the level of tribalism and closed mindedness exhibited here. I occasionally visit this site in the hope of finding some glimmer of light, a sign of an evolving mindset, but time and time again disappointed. How can a people with so much potential continue to roll around in the mud of tribalism? Such small mindedness is the reason why this country will always remain a backward nation. Someone has been asking for divorce because they are unhappy in a marriage, and the rest of you have been telling them to shut up while at the same time using any excuse to kill and maim them. If you don't like them, why not just let them go? The world is focused on fighting racism...that is the thought process that views black people as inferior to other races...what are Nigerians doing?, they are busy being tribalistic. Has any one of you small minded people considered how you would react if all those your brothers & sisters abroad in the US, Europe, etc, were asked to leave because of the colour of their skin?. Rather than making snide remarks against the Igbos, perhaps you should engage your brains and ask "do they have a valid point?" Is Nigeria a fair country?, is there equitable distribution of the country's wealth among all the groups or have some groups benefited far more than others, has one group dominated the political landscape & governance to the detriment of others? All over the world, it is the fundamental right of people to protest if being treated unfairly. What differentiates advanced societies from the backward ones, is that in advanced societies, debates are held, people air their views and there is no fear of retaliation or attack by their fellow country men. Here's a question that has bugged me for quite awhile in my observations of this country & reading through many of the small minded tribalistic comments that tend to pour out at times like this, if so many other Nigerians do not like the Igbos, why not just save everyone the time and any unnecessary bloodshed and simply sit around a table at aso rock & let Biafra & any other group that wants, exist as either an independent country or a self governing region? Perhaps adopt the U.K. Model? The UK is made of 4 countries- England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland Oh, and before the dummies emerge, take note that there are people from the 4 countries living and working with no hassle wherever they want in the U.K., so yes, there are Scottish people working in England and vice versa across all the others. Those agitating for Biafra are doing so because they feel there is an unfairness in the entity called Nigeria. And for any honest person, not distracted by tribalism, they have a valid case. Look at your history people! So rather than attacking them, perhaps this is now an excellent opportunity to restructure the entity to give people more control of their destiny. And also for those saying there's nothing in the East, you reveal that you have very little knowledge of what builds a nation/people. Please take some time and do some reading. Check out the history of Japan and other countries that are far advanced purely driven by the brain power of their people. Stop being small minded. Emancipate yourself from mental slavery and come up wth constructive solutions to the issue. Just think how much the country's image would improve if it comes up with a brilliant solution that not only acknowledges the grievances of those asking for a divorce but also at the same time addresses the decades of unfairness entrenched in the very fabric of the entity called Nigeria. If you incite violence against others, violence will one day visit you...c'est fini 3 Likes |

ewa26: ure are practically and visibly senseless and a big fool people use both first of all it's Akwu not aku Ndi Anambra uses the akwu in onugbu more than others. cos if it's abundance. others use Akwu but mostly palm oil. some people prefer yellow pepper for their egwusi while some would up for red pepper. some people use ugwu on their egwusi while some opt to use utazi stop being a big fool and stay off my mention. Don't comment cos u have to say something but rather when u have something to say. Ur ignorance is smelling. olodo itiboribo. modified; ooo I see ure one silly person who is trying to gain relevancy in the food session on nairaland. Biko choose someone else to look for relevancy. ewa26: I'm ashamed of u. "Imonize" - So ndi Imo are not humanbeings abi. Ur type are the internal problems we have in actualisation if Biafra. ud just come online and be commenting on superiority of one Igbo state over another making, entertaining the Afonjas and co. . A good meal is a good meal, regardless the method or tribe that prepared it. As long as the person is not dirty and the meal is tasty then I'll have to my fill cos I'm a foodie... I'm Anambra to the core. By both parents. Currently residing in Anambra too. I prepared my Onugbu onugbu Just yesterday with akwu. Egwusi has frying method of preparation and cooking method. That someone chose one uses one over the other doesn't mean the person doesn't know how to cook. Go through cookery books and ull see instances where they give u 2 to 3 options (eg. use onugbu leaf or ugwu leaf or Utazi), they would also go further to tell u different times u should put which ever one u opted for (eg. if ur choice is onugbu leaf, add it now and stir, if not, close the pot and allow to steam for 10mins more on low heat etc) Ure visibly dumb and don't take simple corrections. I wouldn't bother explaining again on preferences. No wonder people don't patronise ur threads, u teach poo, and I'm sure u cook poo too. A good product always attracts customers. 1 Like |
