I put it to you that no Nigerian is owing the Nigerian govt a single dime and I know what I am saying ...Every single Nigerian loses large amounts of money to the govt daily in different manners from paying for electricity they never recieve to VAT to fallout out of double taxation on goods and services ...Bro it's a big myth when the govt says Nigerians don't pay Tax because you can't escape tax in Nigeria , you pay Value added Tax on every single drop of water you drink , you pay withholding tax either directly or indirectly , you pay tax for every litre of fuel you use , you pay stamp duties , some pat personal income tax , every market , every seller pays one form or tax or the other to a level of govt , even your roadside Akara woman must remit monthly to the local govt and she passes it on to the customer again ..don't be decieved by our deceptive govt ooo
Do you have facts to back your claims or you just assumed?

The only thing this govt has achieved
is devising ways & means to keep
collecting from, & pauperising the citizens.

They haven't done anything apart from
complaining & blaming PDP.

We never knew it was possible for a govt
to be worse than that of GEJ & his forty thieves.

PMB, Osinbajo & their co-travellers will surely
be consigned to the dustbin of history as the
most yeye govt..... sad

tax don come, the tax does not recognize any party affiliations or ethnicity but for everybody. The political elites don't care about anybody just themselves and there household. Two years running nothing tangible to show for it , only from one distraction to another. In mj voice 'they don't really care about us'

Sequel to https://www.nairaland.com/3889440/osinbajo-declares-every-thursday-taxthursday Acting President, Osinbajo has also offered nine months grace period to tax payers to regularise their tax status or face criminal prosecution for tax offences.

Osinbajo gave the ultimatum in Abuja on Thursday at the inauguration of the Voluntary Assets and Income Declaration Scheme (VAIDs).

He said the scheme was specially targeted at taxpayers who had not declared their taxable incomes and assets, as well as those who don’t pay at all, and those who had been underpaying or under remitting.

Osinbajo said the scheme would cover all federal and state taxes such as companies’ income tax, personal income tax, petroleum profit tax, capital gains tax, stamp duties and tertiary education tax.

Osinbajo said that those who failed to take advantage of the nine months grace period would face criminal investigation and if found guilty may face up to five-years jail term.

Also, only 214 Nigerians pay taxes of about N20 million annually and about 900 Nigerians pay N10 million as tax every year.

Terribly ill conceived.

When they should look for amnesty they are drumming the drums of warfare!

FG has now given the weapon to corrupt tax officials to hound people till they drop their pants.

Show me the tax chief that is not a billionaire, and show me how they made their billions.

Governance is now gone terribly wrong in our country. Terribly wrong, terribly insensitive and maybe even heartless.

Go to the malls and see how many sellers are packing up. Go to the open market and see people wailing!

The very big companies are culprits when it comes to taxes, but they certainly can settle. Who will dare go to the bank chief?

Now, the small players have been offered to the dogs to bark, bite and eat.

I hope that the acting President does not turn us into preys.

I really pray so.

That's not totally true. There are many Nigerians evading taxes inspite of government's effort. Using the word "No Nigerian " is understatement and a fallacy. Trace the history of taxation in Nigeria, you would find ought some resistance from some of Nigerians to tax

That's completely true..

Thank God the minister of finance is using N power to educate Nigerians on tax matters. Most Nigerians don't pay taxes. Their moral values are poor. Although the government share part of the blame but research works doesn't lie at all. I travel to different parts of Nigeria to study their attitudes and behavior and one of the thing observed is that many Nigerians have lost their values. An average Nigeria wants to enjoy benefits but don't want to pay for it. No wonder we keep seeing people be lynched and beaten on daily basis yet it doesn't serve as deterrent to others to learn. To even obey traffic light requires army men to be around that vicinity .
Yes the government isn't making effort but again who's the government if not you and I? .The leaders we have were once followers who blasted the government but when given opportunity to change the menace, the do worst.

Let Nigeria government refund my money for uninterrupted electricity I paid for, without seeing even two hours in a week.

Are we paying tax for generators, water, roads, healthcare, security and education we are providing for ourselves and loved ones from our personal incomes

We are tired of being stolen from by APC government.

Is APC trying to loot Nigerians to fund Buhari's coma in London

Don't worry the government is working out modalities to make sure things work well. The system is just too corrupt and the blame strategy of apc isn't working at all. The high expectations from this government is diminishing on daily basis but we will get there someday perhaps you would have a story to tell
