See people complaining that the story is long. If it was beef between Davido and Wizkid they will read to the end. Reading culture is dead to most, what they prefer is picture stories. Yet they are the ones posting stupid response to the news. I will help u summarize it. The decision of the Pope as head is final. The problem with Ihiara is tribalism, forgetting that the first bishops that handled the affair of the church were all foreigners. So why now are they clamouring for an Indian as Bishop ? The devil has entered the minds of those Causing these problems and like every issues in the Catholic Church, this one will be resolved. 1 Like |

tete7000:Maybe she took the vow of Poverty alongside others. There was a story told about late Bishop Anthony G. Nwedo-Nzeribe of not being able to even do anything for his family even if it's building a small house in his place when his mother died. It was said that his parishioners had to contribute money to build a house in his hometown during that period. Because the Bishop belonged to the order of the Holy Ghost priests and took the vow of poverty. Thereafter many, at least of the If Igbo, stopped taking the vow of poverty. Disclaimer: I don't know if the story above is true or not. 1 Like |

They rejected Bishop Okpaleke because of his Anambra dialect. But they accepted to be under the administration of Cardinal Onaiyekan (Archbishop of Abuja diocese) who is from Kogi state. Does he speak their dialect? The Pope should save the Catholic church by derobbing all the priests involved in this saga. There are Nigerian priests all over the world and no one is raising hell. There you have it--one more reason why Mbaise people are the most hated group because of their natural wickedness. And you imagine why spinsters of Mbaise origin litter the whole country. Who would want to marry from such evil place? \ 5 Likes |

eagleeye2: Maybe you are correct. That your disclaimer got me laughing. By the way Fr. Edeh is of the holy ghost congregation too and he owns a university. Another thing I have noticed though is that degree of freedom priests have in the southwest seems different from what their colleagues enjoy in the east. When I look at Fr. Mbaka and the way he publicly speak on political issue, saw him visiting a sitting president in personal capacity; and also when I look at Fr. Edeh with his university and affluence; I honestly never envisage a priest from this side can wield those powers. I usually feel the eastern church is in a different world. I think that freedom contributes to the problem of Ahiara diocese. 2 Likes |

When we warned that hate-based Tribalism is a slippery slope, they refuse to accept. Now, an Igbo clergy is being rejected because of his dialect! I won't be surprised if Mbaise catholics declare independence from rome just because of Tribalism. SMH. 4 Likes |

What's really purpose of Christianity in Igboland ? what do we gain from such perversion as the church ? it baffles me that black men are more interested in that which he doesn't control than in his own destiny which he can unequivocally dictate. Mental Slavery is evil . |

isalegan2:What do you mean by people have a right to self-determination? I'm not sure you have any rational explanation for that. As long as you're a practising member of Catholic church at any levels you're subject to the papacy and you should have in mind they take their decisions with Gods guidance. The shameless clergy and parishioners should be chased out of Catholic church. There is nothing like marginalisation in the Christian Bible. You either submit to the church leadership or leave the church. Not staying within and be constituting nuisance. There are many IBOs priest in Yorubaland and you don't hear us whinning. Why can't an Anambra man serve in Imo state? The civil serjvice is even worse. 3 Likes |

eagleeye2: Imo has many more priests than Anambra, almost double , yet Anambra has5/6 of the bishops position in the south east. Firstly, its wrong to say its Anambra fault, majority of Anambras are Anglicans, the problem is the Devilish Cardinal Arinze, he is being nepotic , using his connect to push his brothers, not just brothers, but soley brother from SAME onitsha dioeses . This is no Anambra vs Imo fight. when ojukwu challenged why Gowon was made head of state, when he is not the most senoir, the most educated , the most in anything, simply becos someone favoured him. Let the selection team give us the criteria for this selection. The selected Bishop is a young man, there are other bishops who are far older, wiser, being in service longer etc criteria for selection. He next bishop could be another Anambra but not from this same Onitsha Dioceses. let him come from Nnewi or wherever, most catholics now believe Cardinal Arinze is manipulating the selection process. That's my 2 bits 1 Like 1 Share |

macjive01:I hope you read where it was said that THE CATHOLIC CHURCH HAS NEVER PRETENDED TO PRACTICE DEMOCRACY. The Priests of Ahiara agitating against this, should first of all OBEY before airing their complaints. Even if another Anambara Bishop is replaced after Okpalaeke. SO? They took a vow of Obedience to the Papal Authority and should either uphold their vow or fall out of the Church and Open their own. I can't remember the Catholic Church begging anyone to become a Priest. 4 Likes |

isalegan2: If you understand what the concept of church is, you will know it is not a political system where you talk of self determination. Infact in that article, a bishop rightly pointed out that the church has never pretended to be democratic. It is the truth, the church is a regimented system where simple obedience is what is required. 5 Likes |

eagleeye2: Who is the church ? who built the dioceses ? The church is the people, if they people for whatever reason reject a priest then so be it ? the pope should respect the people, or they will leave the church for him and his pedophile cohorts . the people built the church, did a penny of the pope and rome go into the building of the church? If the pope doesnt carry the people along , then maybe he should go built his own church and appoint who so ever he wants as bishop in the church. |

macjive01:There are certain points I don't argue. The People of Ahiara Mbaise and their priests can take whatever structure they have built and call it whatever name they like. But certainly it won't be a part of the Catholic Church. If they were bigger than the Papacy why haven't they Confirmed the young boys and girls, waiting for confirmation? Or you think this is a democracy where the Papacy will sit and be debating with you on what you like or not. 4 Likes |
