Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said that Nigerians must do everything possible to stop the agitation for Biafra led by Nnamdi Kanu.

He stressed that failure to do so could lead to a repeat of the 1966 coup and the events that led to unprecedented bloodshed in the country.

He said this at the International Conference Centre, Abuja during the launch of the biography of late Brigadier Zakariya Maimalari on Tuesday.

According to Obasanjo, the top most lessons for Nigerians to learn from unfolding events in the country are that the nation has had enough of tragedies.

“What lesson can we learn? The lesson we can learn is that we have had enough tragedies in this country.

“So far, since 1999, it seems that we have got it right. Let us hope that we continue to get it right and learn that Nigeria has had enough of bloodshed, enough of sacrifices by those victims, that Nigeria deserves peace, unity and progress,” Obasanjo asserted.

The two-time Head of State also gave reasons for some of the decision taken by his government in his second coming as civilian president in 1999

He said he decided to retire Maimalari’s son who was the then Military Administrator of Jigawa State for certain reasons.

Obasanjo said: “I have no apology but I have explanation. It’s because it’s necessary to stop this sort of things that took the life of your father prematurely, that we had to take the decision that all those who have tasted power, that they should never have tasted, of political office that we should ease them out of the Army so that we can have an Army that is free from political aberration.”

obj identified a problem with out identifying the solution, the simple truth is that the primarily reason for a northern coup now is to retain the presidential power in the north and obj knows it.people like obj only supports one Nigeria due to their personal greed rather than what is the best for the ordinary Yoruba people in ogun state.

Stopping NNAMDI Kanu by all means is that all this old monkey has to say. Instead of looking for how to position Nigeria in the path of Equity, justice and fair play for all citizens he is here talking of stopping who God has sent to free his people. Any way as it was to pharaoh so shall it be to some people In this generation. The Niger River is still there mr OBJ.

obj was not even half as brutal with uwazulike and massob compared to how brutal Buhari have been with Nnamdi Kanu and IPOB.the current agitation for Biafra is a result of Buhari's poor approach to issues, likewise the recent bombings in the Niger Delta.

Obasanjo loves to speak in parables, so he is saying that it is better to 'eliminate' Nnamdi Kanu and save the country from civil war, but he has forgotten that we have gotten to that point that such action will become the beginning of the end of Nigeria as we know it.

A wise man would have joined IBB in pushing for Referendum, but this founding father is not really a wise one at this juncture.

Eliminate Kanu? Even if this was true, a retired General in the Army will choose a public forum to advance such an idea?
By the way, he didn't mention anything like that in what you just read.

Statements like this is the reason we want Biafra even more, so that you can have your Nigeria all to yourself.

His people just need to go home and have their own country...the Lugard's contraption...Awo's mere geoghraphical expression is not working...it is a failed state...Kanu's region just needed to start building high rise like this pic, to accommodate the people relocating...

Who are the Nigeria and wat is Nigeria?

An entire region say they are not Nigeria and u are talking about stopping Nnamdi Kanu?

OBJ u are suppose to be retired from politics at 84 years of age, yet u keep making comments that exposes ur dementia.

Nnamdi Kanu is far greater than a treasury looter like urself and mass murderer.

The people of Odi in Bayelsa might have recieved compensation from the state of Nigeria for the Genocide u commited against them but that does not absolve u from being a War Criminal who murdered his own people.

Nexttime, before u jump into the SS/SE affairs or demand stopping the people champion Nnamdi Kanu, u better get it into ur fucking demented head that Nigeria is not ur property and u are no longer President.

Isn't it ironic that you will use the words of a man who exemplified passive resistance and peaceful change to justify the actions of a man who preached violence against his fellow human beings?
Too much bizarre logic and comments about this biafran agitation.

-Nigeria can only stop him by calling for a UN backed Referendum. Mazi's mission is to restore Biafra.

He indirectly speaking in parables concerning the west.

Nnamdi kanu and biafra agitation might trigger the north to want power at all cost thereby planning a coup for osibanjo, because they might be of the belief that the west would be sympathetic, agitate for restructure and align with the east thereby breaking up the country or re-structuring it entirely. The west would not take it and a free for all fight begins .

My opinion..
Nnamdi kanu or the east has nothing to do with coup..

If we find Nnamdi their will certainly be war and the country wll still end.

When that time reach, we will introduce u to the Jesus of the Biafra movement, the bringer of the sword.

Nnamdi is merely the John. He is a preacher

All ur military will de destroyed over night whilst we head out into western region Yoruba land and up north to take territory from which we will defend Biafra.

On july 12th Kanu bail must be cancelled and sent back to kuje to remain there till the conclusion of his case.

This time around, he wont be allowed to receive visitors.

There shall be no more Biafra or Ipok sympathizers in court.

There shall be no more rally fir release of kanu. The Nigerian military, DSS, police are battle ready now to crush all the Biafra agitatirs.

The FG are quiet and silent just watching kanu. Even justice Binta Nyako few days ago was listening to the interviews granted by kanu and also watching kanu in the midst of crowds of ipok as against his bail condition.

I see many innocent igbos going to early grave from july 12th.
