Not a permanent feature... You can use it for just the test. But the idea is just to show you can get a 15A real adapter, it's there in the Nigerian market. Thanks for pointing it out though.

All you need to do, is to contact your nearest electrical store and ask for 15amp to 13amp adaptor. It allows you to connect 15amp plug into the 13amp socket outlet. CAUTION don't load it more than 13amp.

so finally got around to changing the plug on my repaired ''1 hp LG inverter ac''
seems its a 2hp compressor that was installed , though i wonder why or how, both compressors looked similar.
my people on gen mode it clocked btw 650 to 710w, after about 15mins operation, took it out from gen mode..it jumped to 1650w to 1710w!!!, and remained so for about 10mins...had to shut it down..would continue further testing later, i knew something was wrong after the repairs, but the superior cooling after the repairs made me complacent as it normallyranged btw 11% to 17% on my 5kva inverter on normal mode, unlike now it clocks in from 25% to 31%

somebody shud pls confirm the wattage of his 1hp Lg inverter ac on normal and gen modes, as i intend buying another unit, but i don dey fear now

Am starting to doubt this chart..guys which charts do you use to calculate proper cable sizing...panels to cc.
This chart says i could use a 4mm cable for a 8 x 300w config..9ft distance..48v inverter. @3% loss
My guts feel its wrong...too small

The tool answered you per the data you fed it.

9 feet is a very short distance - put in like 33 feet/10 metres at 60vdc and see the cable size jump up from 4mm to 10mm.

It is also possible you are spec'ing the system running Amps & Volts differently than you actually intend to use e.g. You said 8 × 300w Panels in a 48vdc system - I would expect the panels setup as 3 in series for a PV to CC voltage of 110v in which case 4mm is a plausible minimum cable size at 9 feet - I generally blindly use 10mm cables as the minimum to do my PV to PV and PV to CC connections where there is a combiner box deployed else I use 16mm when all the PV parallel connections are combined in one cable going from roof to CC.

It is always a good idea to go at least one size up than the minimum recommendation - this helps you cover temperature derating and also allow for some system expansion.

I will initially load in 10 panels totalling 3.2KW in 1s with a VoC of ~370V. The rated sweet range for MPPT is 120-450V.

The operation instructions stipulate that arrays to be connected should be ungrounded. The advice is to pass arrays through a combiner box equipped with an arrestor.

Can I get away with just using an arrestor, since I'm starting with a single string? If yes, which particular ones are advised for use in the coastal area?

If I must use a combiner box, kindly advice me on suitable ones. Thanks.

Please be sure to buy from an LG Fouani store and not a random 3rd party vendor - I hear people market some older generation LG ACs as inverter ACs when they are not - they don't behave or save energy like the ones people here have variously described do.

Documentations that I have read[1] suggests that combiner boxes are for high PVs with over 500kw. How is it going so far with your new tool?

For surge protection, a device like the MNSPD 600 will do very well provided you already have a low resistance earth connection installed for your site - see product link below;

If you are a risk taker, you could even deploy an MNSPD 300 for finer/more precise surge protection given that your target operating voltage is within the MNSPD 300's MCOV range - pertinent to note, an 'ungrounded PV array' does not mean or imply that the installation is not surge protected and grounded/earthed at the DC side.

For combiner boxes you can either buy any of Midnite's boxes (premium priced) or improvise one by yourself using a suitable enclosure and properly rated DC breakers and/or busbars.

The amount of your battery bank depends on the voltage of the 10kva inverter you wanna buy or have....
When the voltage is known, then the charge controller can come in before panels...
