scorpio2013:
Our population is not higher than our resources. Look at our landmass, it is scantily populated.
In this case, Nnamdi Kanu was specific to a region.
Even as that, when you consider land mass, you must also consider the useable areas. For instance, look at Niger Republic and the land size.. Niger has one of the largest land area in Africa, but most part of it is uninhabitable desert land. In essence, it is almost useless.

Apart from that, you have to assign different land uses for an area. Not everywhere should be built up, in fact it's a disaster. You must have natural reserved area, industry, residential, commercial, etc...
There must be a balance between population and land resources.

I can't believe there's any controversy over this: on this particular issue, whether you support his movement or not, Nnamdi Kanu is 100% correct!

Popping out kids you don't have the funds to properly feed, let alone provide a high-quality education for, is the height of irresponsibility, and only causes problems for society down the line, when your malnourished, poorly educated offspring grow up to join the already bulging ranks of Nigeria's agberos, street hawkers, scam artists, armed robbers and the like. No state on earth has ever successfully modernized without also bringing its population growth rate under control, whether through mass emigration, having fewer children, or a mixture of both strategies.

Those on here spouting nonsense about birth control being "unAfrican" should be honest enough to acknowledge that modern medicine and hygiene are also "unAfrican", and in the "good old days" before such "unAfrican" practices came courtesy of the British, the reason why Africans went in for big families was because most of the children never made it to adulthood in the first place.

I'll be frank: this population growth issue is the single best argument for splitting this pathetic excuse of a country up. A system that rewards certain already impoverished parts of the country for recklessly spitting out children, by giving them more political power on the basis of their head count, is a system that rewards failure and lack of planning, with the human rabbits being given ever greater say over those who have shown restraint and invested heavily in their fewer children. Nigeria rewards those who spit out 20 illiterate beggars with 10 times the votes of those who raise a doctor and an engineer, and yet we wonder why the NASS is nothing but a useless talking shop full of ignorant parasites.
