please nairalanders, what advice do i give to my friend in this situation

My friend is 33 years and the girl he has been dating since 3 years is 24 years,the problem is this AA,AS and SS thing, the guy and the girl is AS and medically, they cant marry, they had one kid together and the kid was SS, the baby died barely a year after birth.

The issue is that they are both in love, most pastors have advised them to break up, while some advised them to still wait for miracle, he came to me for advice and i advised him to take his time to decide, we all know thats not a friendly advice, what do i tell him?

please medical doctors in the house should advice me on what to tell him, is their any possibility for miracle?

You guys should pity yourselves and dont get married and if you marry dont have kids. If you have money sha, go to a good fertility clinic where they can artificially sellect and and check genetically the eggs and sperm to rule out SS and thrn implant it in the woman.

I did use the word 'slim chance', 25% outta a 100% depict a fat possibility of not having an ss. Besides the 25% is for every 4 offsprings, not in every birth.. i give up, am off to sleep

One in every four consecutive births would be an ss...you are getting it twisted
Unless there is a still birth, abortion, etc then the cycle is distorted. Either you are not married or you did not go for counselling

It is still a wrong advice. That the chances are slim shouldnt make yoy encourage them to TRY now. That slim means they may have another SS child again. Thrn what? You would tell them sorry and reffer them back yo google? Why take such risk? Op.it is too risky for you and the happy family you love to raise.Contrary to the general belief out there that it is 1 out of 4 children that will be SS , the actual fact is that for EVERY pregnancy there is a 25% chance of it being SS.During copulation the sperm released and the egg to be fertilized are blind and do not know which is best to form a child so you can have 4 or even 10 children and all will be sicklers.Same way you can have 4 or 10 children and all will be AA or AS.
Sperm and eggs do not permutate during fertilization.
Sickle cell anemia is very real.You need to come to the hospital to see the way the SS child and family they are born into suffer.The psychological trauma is just too much.It is too expensive to raise an SS child. Moreover, how many abortions will you do?
