bantudra: With closed gutters, there'd be no waste to clean bro. Imagine your water pipe at home, what do you think the possibility is of finding waste in it Probably a zero chance, cause the pipeline is a closed system. We need closed system gutters with filters and manholes for the once in a blue moon inspection. |

EnigmaticEnigma:Yes ,i live in the US and there quite a few open gutters in my neighborhood. When there's strict enforcement and better orbanised society then even open gutters are able to stay clean. USA is clean bcuz they have strict enforcement ,Kigali ,Rwanda is very neat bcuz they have strict enforcement ,a maintenance culture and an organized society that's been cultured to respect rules. That is not so in the anything goes man eat man societies like Lagos and a few other cities. 1 Like |

People should learn not to throw dirt indiscriminately. On several occasions we've seen people throwing plastic bottles and biscuits and gala wrappers from cars and busses. Whatever we sow today we reap tomorrow but it's a pity the righteous also suffer. 1 Like |

next time when you want to drop that plastic can on the roadside or pure water sachet, remember say you follow cause the Lagos flood ooh. Na small small "everybody" take contribute (excluding me ). Our perception of waste disposal when on transit is not environmentally friendly. 1 Like |

Nice one but., Nigerians need sensitisation gan, see bottles and plate packs all littered in the gutters, very sad o The agencies in charge of sensitisations shuld always do so esp when its close to rainy season. Adequate punishments shuld also be met out to defaulters. Gutters arent waste bins and sturborn nigerians need to know that God help us |

connectpoint: Africans amaze me .We don't like to do stuff that involves too much effort ,too much thinking /planning ,lots of diligence ,stringent focus and well executed good organization...and then we blame everybody else when our societies fail. Have you ever wondered why the most organized countries ala Singapore ,Japan ,USA etc are also the most advanced /richest? No pain no gain in this world -Africans simply don't wanna apply/strain themselves hence our dirty ,poor and backward status. If we can't manage very simple basic cleanliness then Africans forget ever graduating into computer manufacturing ,designing rockets or graduating from our perennial dependence on raw commodities for export earnings. 1 Like |

we are our biggest problem...when buhari came in the 80s and wanted to discipline us we rejected and drove him away... now he is back trying to fix our fuckups,we are rejecting and trying to drive him away again....how ironic..... we prefer leaders that will let us mess around as we like... |

bantudra: Yep, it definitely will cost more, but it would be worth it. Also, there'd be less cleaning to do, if any. Lastly, they wouldn't need to crawl, as if the designs were solid, there would be manholes for easy entry. You are thinking of small gutters we typically have in naija, but what I'm referring to are deep deep gutters, at least 3 meters deep. |
