My first Girlfriend: My Life Story.
Episode 13:
Yaba! Yaba!! Yabaa!!... I heard a conductor shouting on top of his voice, after a little walk, further from were the bus had stop and everyone alighted, I walked towards him and asked how much the fair was, he igonred my question but pointed that I should get into the bus(I was not suprise anyways, some conductors don't talk too much). The journey from Oshodi to Yaba was surprisingly fast and smooth, there was almost no traffic, and the driver drove really fast, we got to Yaba in less than 30 minutes. I alighted as well as other commuters, so I hastened up to catch the next bus to Unilag (although it was sure I wasn't going to get to Unilag at 7.00pm, because it was already few minutes to 7:00pm).

I crossed to the other side and made my way to were I know the busses to Unilag called Campus Shuttle(busses painted in yellow and white with inscription University of Lagos, also with serial numbers on them) are usually parked, but to my surprise as I approach the place nothing looks like Campus shuttle, no not one 'ah! lobatan'(ah! It is finished) I said to myself 'and Lola asked if I can get to Unilag o, I should have just said no and receive proper directions' so it dawn on me that they have relocated. 'oh! God' (almost stamping my feet on the ground) so I thought of what to do, I contemplated calling Lola, but I presume she might laugh at me or say 'shabi I asked if you knew how to get to Unilag....'Bla bla bla... before directing me, so I decided to ask passers-by,(although I was shy but I had to step out of my shyness to get the information I needed) in a short while I spotted a young man, tall and fair, he was wearing a black polo on a short, he was also on his phone looking left and right as tho he was expecting someone (I assume he was waiting for Uber or Taxify or any of the online Mobile taxi) so I approached him,

Me: good evening sir (I said gently)
The Young Man: Helloo, good evening (he said with a deep and soft voice)
Me: please sir where is the campus shuttle park?
The Young Man:oh! You will have to walk back, cross to the other side and walk through the market, you'll see the campus shuttle park up-front.(he said descriptively, also pointing across the road)
Me:ok, thank you sir (I said bowing a little)
The Young man: you welcome.

I turned from him and walked back to cross to the other side. You know how people cross In Lagos na, they'll stand, stick their head forward, bend low a little, look right, left, and right again before they finally cross(It's what have noticed In the cause of my few outtings) so I couldn't have done it differently, so I stood at a point, also the road was very busy, I stuck my head forward, bent low, looked right, left and right again and made a successful cross. I walk through the market as I was directed by the Young Man,I walked through maketers, product advertisers which some were yelling 'uncle wetin you wan buy, I get trouser, shirt, Jean...' another said 'Boda,I sell palm, sandals, sneakers... Which one make I bring...' I ignored them all, I kept walking because I could see the campus shuttle up-front.

Oh I forgot the bureau dè change guys, they were the first I saw, making hissing sounds and beckoning to get my attention but I turned deaf ears, but I could hear them say 'dollar-gold, dollar-gold', and they said it really fast.(the dollar-gold I think it meant; changing naria to dollar and vice versa, and them buying authentic gold jewellery). I got to the campus shuttle, got in and I was happy It filled up quickly, and so we zoomed off, in a short while I heard the driver saying gate! gate!!, (Oh, that means we are approaching Unilag gate)so I replied ' owa o'( i.e indicating I will be alighting at the gate bus stop) we got to Unilag gate In less than 10 minutes (I forgot to check what the time says at that moment, but I was sure it was past 7 already), I alighted and made move to call Lola immediately, as I brought out my phone to dial her, I heard my name 'Wesley!'. I was surprise because no one knows me around and I do not know any one. But I was wrong, as I turn to the direction were the voice came, guess who I saw, oh my God, it's unbelievable (I wish this was like a TV Series I would have played an advert or a music video as an interlude, but it's fine)

It was Rita, she was the least imagined I would see at that moment. It was then I remembered she told me she stayed around the Yaba axis(which is close to Unilag). I guess she just returned from school because she has just been admitted in a private University; Ajayi Crowther University, Abeokuta, Oyo state.
Rita: Wesley (she called excitedly, I could see it on her face and she's Change a little too, like she's Bigger and prettier, yeah. She wanted to give me a big hug, but am not use to hugging girls, so I think she noticed from my gesture, so we did a light side hug)
Me: Hey Rita, how are you doing? Am surprise to see you ( I said in a calm manner)
Rita: yeah, you have not been calling me or replying my messages on WhatsApp (she said complaining and heart-broken. Well that was true, she messaged me on my way to Oshodi and I went offline immediately, if I had known I would have just replied her so she would spare me of her compliants)
Me: Rita am sorry, I have been a little busy that's why.(I said in a consoling manner)
Rita:Ok, or have you not been seeing my messages?, Give me your phone Let me see if you've been receiving my messages.
(I think that's going a bit far, it's not necessary at all)
Me: Oh don't bother, I do see them.
(But she insisted)
Rita:No, give me your phone (she insisted and reached out to grab my phone)
Me: I said don't bother (there was a little tuggle between us and in the process my small Techno phone that am managing fell faced down and it got a serious crack across the screen)
Rita:Oh my God! Am so sorry Wesley, hope the screen didn't crack?( She said with agitation)
Me: just a little crack tho(meanwhile it cracked so bad that it went off and blank, that I could not operate it that moment)
Rita: we can get somewhere to fix it at once.
Me: oh don't worry, I will fix it when I get home.
Rita: Ok dear, am sorry (she said once again)

We strolled into Unilag, found a spot(an iron chair/bench under a tree) so we sat and the talk began(although she did most of the talking and I, most of the nodding.... I wasn't in the mood to talk much for obvious reasons).As we talk, I was on a look out for Lola maybe she would make her way along where we were. She must have been calling my phone, but it wouldn't have been going through, and I can not reach her as well because my phone was off and blank. At that point I was a bit down, I just got tired all of a sudden(I was happy and unhappy at the same time; happy because I won't be going to the 'all night birthday party' and unhappy because am unable to see Lola for wish I left my house, she would definitely be worried too). After a short while I jolted and said to Rita

Me: ehmm... Rita I would be leaving now, it's getting dark (the time was actually running towards 8:00pm already, so it was really getting dark, and Funny enough she didn't ask me what I came for, in Unilag, she was so cut up with the euphoria of seeing me and all of the talking)
Rita: yeah... it's getting dark, truly. Were are you going?
Me: home na(I replied affirmatively)
Rita: ok, let me see you off to your place, there's nothing am doing at home tonight.
Me: see me off to my place? (I asked, as if I didn't hear her at first). Oh don't worry, thank you
Rita:ok, no problem, if you say so.
We walk outside the school gate, board a bus to Yaba(since she stays around yaba, and I will en route yaba to my house). We exchanged pleasantary and bid one another goodbye. I finally got home, really tired. when I got to the gate, the gate was locked (obviously my mum was not back from the seminar she went for), I unlocked the padlock on the gate like a drunk and forgot to lock it behind me (I just thank God a stranger or a thief didn't come in), I went straight to my room, jumped on my bed and slept off.

Episode 14
I woke up all of a sudden and when I checked the wall clock, it was 4am, just then I discovered I was hungry(very hungry). (oh I didn't eat last night, I was too tired to prepare dinner)I sat up and thought of how I would quench the hunger. I stood up and strolled to the kitchen as if I already prepared a meal for myself, I got to the kitchen and of course there was no food, although there were food stuffs (my mum loves to stock the kitchen with glossaries of food items, she doesn't like to rush to the market each time she wants to cook) I only stared at them I could not eat any, because they were inedible. I went back to my room disappointed. I tried to go back to sleep but It was difficult, before then I noticed I still have my clothes on, including my wrist watch but I continued the sleep anyways. I forced myself and managed to sleep for additional 2hours 30minutes to finally wake at 6:30AM. I took off my clothes first and everything I was wearing. I sat on my bed, I felt really lonely and bored, I can't operate my phone my laptop battery is flat, there was no power supply and I was around the previous day to charge it, even if there was power.

After a short while I got up and went to the bathroom, to take my bath and freshen up.'I have to go cook o or else I will just starve myself for nothing'(I said to myself), so I went to the kitchen immediately, I wanted something fast and stress free, so I warmed some Water to prepared bread and hot tea(since it was morning I wanted to warm up). After talking breakfast, I went to my desk, grab The Native Son I had started reading (started with introduction) to finish the introduction and go into the novel proper, so I did a few pages(about 7 pages). After a while I was feeling sleepy and hot(prolly because of the hot tea), so I went to the sitting room, jumped on the sofa, book in hand. I stood up to get a glass of water from the kitchen, as I was returning to the sitting room, I heard the gate opened 'oh mum is back'(I said to myself) before I could run to the window to peep, I heard a knock at the door...ko ko ko.

Me: who is there?
Voice: Wesley it's me
(It's a Ladies voice, it's not my mum, who could that be)
Me: Who please?(I ask curiously)
Voice: it's Rita
Me: Rita!?(I was alterly surprise, I opened the door and it was truly Rita)
Rita: Wesley, wassup, I know you are surprise to see me
Me: yes of course, you didn't tell me you were coming and how did you know my place
Rita: I guess you are yet to fix your phone, I tried reaching you(not answering my question)
Me: oh yeah, I dropped it with the technical already (I lied, I didn't want to talk any further about it)
Rita: ok(she said nodding her head)
Me: please sit, should I get you a glass of water?
Rita: Yes please. Thank you.
(As I head to the kitchen, I ruminated on how she got to know my place, so I remembered I must have shared my address when we use to chat and hook up. I returned with a glass of water and handed it over to her)
Me:Here( stretching the glass of water towards her)
Rita: Thank you Wesley.( After drinking, she began) What did you go for at Unilag yesterday?(she finally asked)
Me: A friend invited me for a birthday party at Jackpor Hotel. But I had to meet the person at Unilag so we could go together.(I explained)
Rita: Really? I was invited to the party too, I know the celebrant so well, but I didn't feel like going, and I was discouraged because it was all-night.
Me:Wow, I do not like all-night party too
Rita: yeah, she even gisted me on how the party went, that she really enjoyed herself and how a girl was molested by different guys such that she was taken to the hospital after the party.
Me : really? ( I said with great concern )
Rita: chill let me show you the chats
(she handed over her phone and I read the whole chat thoroughly. From the way the molested girl was described, I could deduced it was Lola, I felt sad, so I made up my mind to visit her at the Shari Hospital that was mentioned, the following day).

Me: Take, thank you (I gave back her phone)

She said she would be leaving soon (am happy she's not staying long, I wasn't expecting her and what if my mum meets us). So we continued talking Sha...I noticed she was getting really close to me, she placed her hands around my shoulders as we talk, all of a sudden she paused a kept staring at me, as I turn to ask her why she kept quiet suddenly, she placed her lips on mine and we kissed, it wasn't up to a minute before I broke the kiss, I didn't want it to lead to something else. I guess she understood because she didn't protest(OMG! did we just kissed again?). After a short while, she stood up to take her leave,so I saw her off to the gate a bid her goodbye. As I make my way back to the house, there was power supply, I ran to my laptop to charge and continued watching the series; Dark Matters season 2. At exactly 8 PM my mum returned, I was happy, she was tired so we could not talk much, she went to the shower and to her room, I went back to my room, continued watching the Dark Matters till I slept off.

At 10AM the next day I prepared to go visit Lola at the hospital(as a good samaritan).
Me: Mum, good morning(she was in the kitchen)
Mum: good morning my dear
Me: mum, I want to go visit a friend, I will be back soon.
Mum: ok, don't stay too long.
Me: sure mum, i wont stay long(I had better not stay long so she wont have to call my phone since my phone is faulty and I don't want to tell just yet)

I dashed out and got to the hospital(the hospital is at yaba), I asked of Lola and I was directed to where she was. When I saw her, the situation doesn't seem serious, she was sleeping( but I guess she wasn't deep in sleep because she was alerted when she heard me call her name). She was surprised to see me, she was also shy and she felt sorry.

Me: Lola, how are you? What really went wrong?
Lola: Wesley, am sorry I would explain later, it's a long story.
Me: really?
Lola: yes
Me: ok, no problem, I won't be staying long, I just came to see how you are doing (I informed her)
Lola: Thank you Wesley, how did you know I was here? (She asked curiously)
Me: don't bother Lola, the important thing is that you are fine, Ehmm...we could not see the other day.
Lola: oh am sorry, did you come to Unilag?
Me: (I laughed saying to myself...is this girl whyning me?) Yes na! I came
Lola: am so sorry Wesley, I left for the party at 6, I forgot I invited you. Please forgive me.
Me: No problem, it's fine (I stood to take my leave)
Lola: Thank you Wesley, I would come to your place tomorrow.
Me: you are coming to my place tomorrow? Don't worry, just go home and take care of yourself, ok?
Lola: No Wesley, I would come(she said affirmatively)
Me: ok o. Take care, goodbye (I hope she was joking).
I returned home in less than an hour, I meet my mum in the sitting reading a book.
Me: good day mum, am back.
Mum: oh so fast?
Me: yes,I told you I will be back soon
Mum: alright, when you are ready to eat, your food is in the cooler.
: ok mum, Thank you.
I eat and locked myself in the room till night falls. My mum went out very early the next day, she left #500 on my selve in case I want to buy anything. Later on after I have had breakfast and did some house chores, I layed on the sofa(a bit tired), after awhile I heard a knock at the door ko ko ko... 'Oh, mum is back so early?'(I said to myself) 'or is it Lola?, I hope not.

Me: who is there?(sounding aggressive)
Voice: it's me Lola
Me: (I jumped up from the sofa) Lola!?
Lola: yes
Me: ok, hold on (I made for the door while I put on my shirt. I opened the door,)Lola, please come in and have your sit.
Lola: thank you Wesley
Me: you welcome, so you eventually came (she looks so bright and vibrant, 'Is this not the same girl I saw on the hospital bed yesterday'? I asked myself. She's dressed in a tight dress and her body partly exposed, I could see her cleavage, ' I hope she's not here to seduce me')
Lola: yes, I told you I was going to come.
Me: ok, you are welcome once again, what should I offer you?
Lola: food, am hungry (she said bluntly)
Me: wow(surprisingly)...what kind of food?
Lola: Any kind
Me: ok, I'll do noodles ( that is the only thing I could prepare at that moment, something fast and quick)
Lola: ok that's fine too.
I went to the kitchen to prepare the noodles. In less than 5mintues I returned to the settings room with a big plate of noodles.
Me: here( placing the plate on the table before her)
Lola: oh, all this for me alone?, I think it's too much.
Me: don't worry it's for both of us.
Lola: oh really?.... nice
Before we began to eat she asked what was wrong with my phone, that she has been trying to reach me, I told her it got spoilt on my way to Unilag. So she gave me her spare phone which was a blackberry (this girl na big girl o, she has an iPhone and a blackberry). So we began to eat from the same plate(I was uncomfortable at first, but as time passed I was cool with it), and gisted. Immediately we finished eating, she said she wanted to tell me something (I felt agitated when a girl tells me that)

Me: ok, go ahead.
Lola: ehmmm, I just want to tell you that I don't want you to be my boyfriend, but we could be FWB.
Me: ehmmm...ook(I said slowly,although I do not know what FWB was, and I didn't want to ask her at that moment, but I got to know later on)

The following day, I picked up my phone and dialed Tunde's number.

Me: Hello Tunde! Tunde!, Please come online right away. I wan gist you something, come online now now(I said to Tunde hurriedly, as if there was an emergency)
Tunde: Wesley, Ok Ok(he responded hurriedly too as tho he knew what I had for him)

Before then, immediately Lola left my place I reconfigured the Blackberry she gave me to my interest, I installed WhatsApp (then, WhatsApp still runs on Blackberry) and other apps I needed. It took a while before he came online though (I wondered why after I told him to come online immediately) maybe his network was slow.

He eventually came online and we began discussion, we chatted for 25min straight (I don't remember chatting that long with a guy, although I have chatted more time than that but there were breaks along the chat). We chatted at length, but the main discussion centered on Lola and i, I told him all that went on between Lola and I. I told him how she invited me to an all-night birthday party, what went wrong (Tunde is a good friend, he's also mature, that was why I could tell him all that I told him. He's the only person I could tell anyways, although I also told Wale later on), and that she came to my place.

(You know how most guys react to such story or information. ' osheyy Wesley, bad guy, Wesley baba...' he went on and on that I had to stop him and cleared the air (I explained myself properly), well, am sure he understood me fully well, he just wanted to kid with me. We went on and on, and to the height of it, I told him what Lola told me before leaving my place. That she '....doesn't want me to be her boyfriend, but we could be FWB'(it was then I knew what FWB means, because I asked Tunde and he told me). Immediately he told me FWB means FRIENDS WITH BENEFITS, I took a pause, I was bewildered, 'really?... Friends with Benefits?'(I said to myself).

(Backtrack to the Software Development Company I sort training from) so I returned home and informed my mum how it went and the information I got, and thankfully she obliged(I already her Mr Johnson referred me to the company)

Me: mum concerning the Software Development training I told you about
Mum: yes! So have you gone to make enquiry?
Me: yes, am just returning from there.
Mum: oh, so how did it go? Is the place Ok? and how much is the training?(bombading me with questions)
Me: yes mum, the place is quite alright, I chose the 3month training duration, amongst 5 and 7months duration of training, so it won't affect my upcoming exam. And the fee is friendly and affordable too(it's less than #100,000 Sha, am not telling you excalty...lol, pardon me)
Mum: ok that's fine, you should start immediately.(she said gladly)
Me: yes, I would start on Monday(it was a Friday that very day).
Mum: ok no problem, Wesley make sure you utilise this opportunity very well o
Me: yes ma, I will, thank you mum.(I said happily)

First thing on Monday morning I reported at the company, I was so early that I arrived almost at the Same time with the security man(I think the time was few minutes to the dot of 7). I had to wait at the security's office before the main building opens at 8.(Little did I know what task lies ahead of me that day and through out the training).

On the struck of 8 the security asked us to go in, we made registrations and received our IDs(meanwhile, as I wait at the securities office, four(4) other trainees joined me while members of staff of the company walked in their numbers, all dressed in suit and related co-operate wears.) We were directed to a room that looks like a seminar or board meeting room.( It was like we were treated as executives,Mr Johnson already told about the company anyways).we sat comfortably, the room was calm and conducive for learning. After a short while a gentleman walked in, introduced himself as MrJarmal(hmmm... nice name).

He also introduced what Software Development entails,he outlined all that we will be engaged in for the next 3month. He also explained that because of the the nature of the duration we chose(3months), our courses would be compacted and contracted, such that we have a lot to do in a short time. As he rounded off he stated that Soft Ware Development also entails TASK ACCOMPLISHMENT AND PROBLEM SOLVING using software programmes.

Indeed it was tasky, we underwent training almost round the clock, even when I returned home in the evening, I am still on my laptop, practicing and going through what has been taught for the day. I barely eat and sleep, infact I had sleepless nights all through the 3month of the training. But am glad it payed off, I was able to aquire efficient and effective skills needed in Software Development.

Episode 16


Later that day in the evening, I was alone in my room just on my phone (my newly possessed phone...lol) and for some reasons Lola crossed my mind(oh God, why am I thinking about this girl? I said to myself) I contemplated calling her but I decided not to, I went on with what I was doing (I can't even remember what I was doing, but I was a bit engrossed with what I was doing). Just then I heard my mum called me:

Mum: Wesley!(Calling out from her room) Wesley!(she called again)
Me: Yes Mummy (I shouted on top of my voice so she could hear my response while I hurry to meet her in her room)
Mum: help me put 3cups of water on fire.
Me: ok ma(I said and went to the kitchen swiftly)
I did as she asked, went back to her room to inform her and returned to my room. On getting to my room, I noticed my screen light, so I made for it to check, low and behold I saw Lola's miss calls(she had called twice).so I called her back right away:

(Phone rings...'i believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky' that was her ringback tune)
Me: Hello...Lola(I said calmly)
Lola: Hi Wesley...I called earlier na
Me: yes...am sorry, I wasn't there when it rang
Lola: ok... where were you?
Me: (looks like she wants details).. I went to the kitchen.
Lola: ok, no problem. I just wanted to say Hi to you and appreciate all that you've done, and for your hospitality.
Me: oh don't mention.
Lola: Alright Wesley... goodbye.
Me: goodbye.

(She dropped the call) That's nice of her(I said to myself). After a short while, there was power supply so I rushed to my laptop to do some stuffs, along the line I paused...I was going to call Lola back, I was so sure of that, it was strong in my heart, We need to talk, she has to explain what she meant by what she said to me(I felt I needed some explainations) does that mean she percieve my actual intentions of becoming her boyfriend?...those were the thought that filled my mind until late night.

For the short time Lola and I have been relating, I have found her a pretty nice girl, she is warm, friendly and she seems to have good comportment, wale must have known my type of girl before working both of us out(speaking of Wale it has been a while I heard from him, I hope he is good where he is, although I reached him much later).

Lola is not a bad girl to be my girlfriend, am cool with it. I would say I like her. But now that she has come straight that she doesn't want me to be her boyfriend, what would I do, should I tell her my mind or just allow whatever feelings I have for her melt down unresolved and play along to been a FWB? Should I call Tunde again? Or I should inform Wale to help convince her?(I was in a bit of confusion)

Very early the next day, I received a call from Mr Johnson. When I saw my phone ring, I was surprised and excited at the same time as to why he was calling, did he have a job for me or what?. So I finally picked up before the call drops:
Me: Hello Mr Johnson, good morning sir(I said respectfully and excitedly)
Mr Johnson: How are you Wesley (his voice sounds very thick and as that of a 'big man')
Me: am fine sir, thank you
Mr Johnson: how did your meeting with the Software company go? You didn't even reach back to me. So have you commenced training?
Me: oh am very sorry sir, the excitement made it escape my mind, I found their training process interesting and efficient, and coupled with my mum's compliment, I started the next Monday. Also I chose the 3months training duration so my upcoming jamb exam won't be affected.
Mr Johnson: ok, that's very nice. So you are now a software engineer now abi? (He said jokingly)
Mesmiling) well, practically, yes
Mr Johnson: alright, very good of you
Me: thank you sir
Mr Johnson: alright Wesley, have a nice day, and send my greetings to your mum.
Me: thank you, and you too sir.... alright I will.(I concluded and he ended the call)

After the call, I headed straight to the bathroom and then to the kitchen to prepare breakfast,I prepared rice for my mum and I. After eating I decided to take a stroll or to visit a friend but I don't know who, just then Wale crossed my mind, so I headed to wale's place.

On My way I stopped by at a shop to buy recharge card so I can call wale if he was at home and to inform him I was coming to visit him. But unfortunately his number wasn't going through...'the number you are trying to call is not reachable'... that was what was singing back to me each time I dialed his number. First I contemplated going back home or to proceed to his place... what if I get to his place and he his not at home. So I decided to go back home, 'I would keep trying his number'.... So I turned and make my way back home.

Later that day in the evening, I was alone in my room just on my phone (my newly possessed phone...lol) and for some reasons Lola crossed my mind(oh God, why am I thinking about this girl? I said to myself) I contemplated calling her but I decided not to, I went on with what I was doing (I can't even remember what I was doing, but I was a bit engrossed with what I was doing). Just then I heard my mum called me:

Mum: Wesley!(Calling out from her room) Wesley!(she called again)
Me: Yes Mummy (I shouted on top of my voice so she could hear my response while I hurry to meet her in her room)
Mum: help me put 3cups of water on fire.
Me: ok ma(I said and went to the kitchen swiftly)
I did as she asked, went back to her room to inform her and returned to my room. On getting to my room, I noticed my screen light, so I made for it to check, low and behold I saw Lola's miss calls(she had called twice).so I called her back right away:

(Phone rings...'i believe I can fly, I believe I can touch the sky' that was her ringback tune)
Me: Hello...Lola(I said calmly)
Lola: Hi Wesley...I called earlier na
Me: yes...am sorry, I wasn't there when it rang
Lola: ok... where were you?
Me: (looks like she wants details).. I went to the kitchen.
Lola: ok, no problem. I just wanted to say Hi to you and appreciate all that you've done, and for your hospitality.
Me: oh don't mention.
Lola: Alright Wesley... goodbye.
Me: goodbye.

(She dropped the call) That's nice of her(I said to myself). After a short while, there was power supply so I rushed to my laptop to do some stuffs, along the line I paused...I was going to call Lola back, I was so sure of that, it was strong in my heart, We need to talk, she has to explain what she meant by what she said to me(I felt I needed some explainations) does that mean she percieve my actual intentions of becoming her boyfriend?...those were the thought that filled my mind until late night.

For the short time Lola and I have been relating, I have found her a pretty nice girl, she is warm, friendly and she seems to have good comportment, wale must have known my type of girl before working both of us out(speaking of Wale it has been a while I heard from him, I hope he is good where he is, although I reached him much later).

Lola is not a bad girl to be my girlfriend, am cool with it. I would say I like her. But now that she has come straight that she doesn't want me to be her boyfriend, what would I do, should I tell her my mind or just allow whatever feelings I have for her melt down unresolved and play along to been a FWB? Should I call Tunde again? Or I should inform Wale to help convince her?(I was in a bit of confusion)

Very early the next day, I received a call from Mr Johnson. When I saw my phone ring, I was surprised and excited at the same time as to why he was calling, did he have a job for me or what?. So I finally picked up before the call drops:
Me: Hello Mr Johnson, good morning sir(I said respectfully and excitedly)
Mr Johnson: How are you Wesley (his voice sounds very thick and as that of a 'big man')
Me: am fine sir, thank you
Mr Johnson: how did your meeting with the Software company go? You didn't even reach back to me. So have you commenced training?
Me: oh am very sorry sir, the excitement made it escape my mind, I found their training process interesting and efficient, and coupled with my mum's compliment, I started the next Monday. Also I chose the 3months training duration so my upcoming jamb exam won't be affected.
Mr Johnson: ok, that's very nice. So you are now a software engineer now abi? (He said jokingly)
Mesmiling) well, practically, yes
Mr Johnson: alright, very good of you
Me: thank you sir
Mr Johnson: alright Wesley, have a nice day, and send my greetings to your mum.
Me: thank you, and you too sir.... alright I will.(I concluded and he ended the call)

After the call, I headed straight to the bathroom and then to the kitchen to prepare breakfast,I prepared rice for my mum and I. After eating I decided to take a stroll or to visit a friend but I don't know who, just then Wale crossed my mind, so I headed to wale's place.

On My way I stopped by at a shop to buy recharge card so I can call wale if he was at home and to inform him I was coming to visit him. But unfortunately his number wasn't going through...'the number you are trying to call is not reachable'... that was what was singing back to me each time I dialed his number. First I contemplated going back home or to proceed to his place... what if I get to his place and he his not at home. So I decided to go back home, 'I would keep trying his number'.... So I turned and make my way back home.

Episode 17

When I got home I tried Wale's number one more time and thankfully it went through, but rang with no response. I was less worried since it already went through, he will definitely call me back as soon as he sees my call.
I went to my room and decided to do some Rap freestyle(it's been a while since I wrote bars i.e Rap lines), so I grabbed my book where I write my Raps, I tried to scribble some bars as I think and hum them as I write. In the process my phone began to ring(it was in my pocket, so I brought it out slowly with my fingers) it was Wale, I saw his name on the screen when I brought out my phone(still ringing), I was glad so I picked up immediately;

MeI didn't allow him start the conversation even though he was the caller) Wale!(almost screaming)how far na, longest time, wetin happen na? Where have you been?
Wale: Wesley (he said laughing) calm down, am fine, yeah it's been long
Me: so what happened? Where have you been?
Wale: omo na my popsi(i.e his dad) go enroll me for one tutorial o, and the tutorial is a big and famous one, infact it has an hostel, and my mum also insisted that I stay in the hostel so I would read very well, I don't have time for my phone sef, although I do come home once in a while(he explained)
Me: oh oook, that's nice o (I felt intimated, I felt I have not been preparing enough, my mum already bought me all the materials I needed shortly after school, so I had been reading little by little, but I felt I needed an intense reading since the exam is drawing near)
Wale: yeah... and the place make sense o. They call the place Mini Campus.
Me: ok, I might come join you o
Wale: no problem na.... I will be glad, we go dy together.
Me: yeah...Wale when last did you hear from Lola?
Wale: it's been a while since I heard from her o, I said I don't have time for my phone at all.... hope nothing sha
Me: ok.. nothing o, just asking and wanted to know if she told you anything
Wale: ohh.. she didn't tell me anything,I have not heard from her. Wetin sup, what are you two up to?
Me: nothing serious jare, just that....
(so I began the story, I narrated all that went on between Lola and I, just as I told Tunde (this are my close palz, it's not that I am garrulous or been some form of a snitch) I ended by telling him what Lola told me when she came to my house, he was suprise as well and asked me why she said that(as if I knew). Anyways I asked for his advice, and he said:

Wale: Wesley, calm down, try and understand girls.You remember the first time you guys meet? You two were really getting along na, do you think she doesn't like you? Maybe she's not really interested at that point.
Me: hmmm... you think so?
Wale: yes! I know Lola very well, before you know her, shabi na me arrange her give you, so no worry yourself concerning what she told you that she doesn't want you to be her boyfriend but Friend With Benefits, she'll change her mind don't worry, just continue to be the best you can, don't be angry with her, continue to be friends with her. Do you think she doesn't like you? With the way she chat with you and call you? She do tell me sometimes, just so you know...lol
Me: really?
Wale: yes na... and again why I think she said that was due to her previous experience. She had a relationship with one of our church member sha, the relationship didn't go well. But she loved the guy so well, but I think the guy doesn't love her as much as she does bla bla bla...
Me: ook, no problem. Have heard. Thank you Wale
Wale: yeah, don't mention, what are friends for
Me: I will call you some other times, and tell you how far
Wale: ok, if am not busy sha... and when next I come home, I will call you and come to place too.
Me: ok no problem, bye
Wale: ok later na.(he hanged up)

I took a deep breath after the call, I felt relieve and spirit-lifted too. Wale sounded helpful to whatever condition I was in.

After the long conversation with Wale, I went back to my Rap book to continue from where I stopped, but I discovered I was hungry, really hungry, so I dashed to the kitchen to sort what I could eat, I had forgotten my mum was still at home, when I dashed into the kitchen and saw her in the kitchen, I was shocked(by that I expressed shock)....she laughed and said 'Wesley what's wrong'....I laughed back and said 'nothing'
I had to stay and assisted her with the cooking(since I was hungry, I needed it to be fast). We finished cooking and the food served. After eating, I took a nap and when I got up, I returned to my Rap book('I must finish this Rap', I said to myself)..... eventually I finished writing and here it goes:

Yeah, huh yeah...
Oh baby girl, come to my lombu,
I will give you money and I'll give you baby too,
If you build your mansion I'll be your watchdog
Also if you sick I'll be your doctor
I promise I go do your hair line,
Only if you agree to come fly with my airline....
