Bacon21:carry out a fisibility study. U will see that power generation from solar is cheaper to install. But expensive to maintain. Thereby consumers will end up paying higher bills. |

Ehiscotch:Totally agreed. The sources of generation has not been improved with time. Obsolete generation process that we have. We never moved with the trend and changes in that industry as seen in most countries. The distribution cables and poles are so old (most are from the 70´s). The transformers are another thing. The whole power sector needs a re-structuring just like Nigeria. Also, why are private individuals not allowed to generate their own power and sell what they can´t use? In western world, this is the practice. Even some goverment buys from these private individuals. 1 Like |

It so sad that a lot of youths on nairaland can hardly read and understand. This isn't the only power project they are embarking on. They are adding this to the national grid. If you can read well then you would have seen that they are hydro. Where were you guys when they started the mega solar project in the north that will generate close to 1500MW. We have gas fired plants coming up to. So if you to open your mouth to say rubbish, check your facts very well |

This is rubbish news. How can such low quantity of megawatts take that long to complete. Nigeria has the resources I still have the believe that Dashiki is a total failure in this present govt, only full of talks and less actions. |

Bacon21:Point is we keep lifting our heads where our hands can even reach . The UK of less than 70 million could not sustain solar they clinged to coal, gasl and nuclear power stations . To up the grid the cheapest and quickest way is to build more gas power stations amd close to source in other to reduce vandalism |
