"Nigerian police and military units carried out extrajudicial killings last year in the aftermath of clashes with members of a Muslim group in the north of the country, footage obtained by Al Jazeera appears to confirm. An estimated 1,000 people were killed as Nigerian government forces fought Boko Haram in Borno, Yobe, Kano and Bauchi states in July and August of 2009. But the footage obtained by Al Jazeera shows that many of the deaths occurred once the fighting was over. Elements of the police and army staged a follow-up operation in which house-to-house searches were conducted and individuals were apparently selected at random and taken to a police station."

This is really horrifying stuff, and is by far the clearest footage of summary executions being carried out by Nigerian soldiers and policemen.

If the murderers whose faces appear in this footage go scot free with no case to answer, there will be much more of this kind of sadistic brutality in Nigeria.

This is ust too barbaric NIGERIAN POLICE!!!!!! when will you stop killing Nigerians you are paid to protect? killing people without trial even animals do not deserve to be killed in this manner

Why not arrest, detain and try first ? The govt was under pressure to cover the fact that it had allowed the boko haram sect to exist Inspite of their draconian methods and mission to destroy civil society.
It is most unfortunate but we have to ensure rule of law is observed and that state resources are not used to sponsor religion.
