I fall to the ground hard due to the impact of the blow on my stomach.
I feel something moving down my face, I touched it and I saw blood on my hands.
"I ought to kill you, slut" he yelled at me, his veins popping out.
I didn't say anything, I just continue to sob on the floor.
He moved closer, I wanted to move back but I was too tired to even lift myself.
"Get out of my way bitch"
He kicked me in the stomach and walked out.
As soon as I hear the door close, I sigh in relief.
I try to sit up, tears streaming down my eyes.
The pain in my stomach too much to bear.
He probably broke a rib, again.
I manage to sit up and drag myself to the closest wall.
I start crying again as my eyes focus on the picture on the wall.
We look so happy.
I look so happy.
I was so in love with him.
I guess that's what blinded me.
No, I was not blind to it, I overlooked the signs, I kept thinking things will be better.
My emotions got the best of me, I was overruled by them.
I look towards the photo again, staring at the biggest mistake of my life.
It all started in that restaurant.

Hello lovelies,
It's here, the story you've all been waiting for. I hope you don't get disappointed.
I don't have much to say anyway, but just know this story is totally different from what I've been writing, it's not all sweet so be warned. It has a little bit of violence but I actually hope you learn something at the end of it.
It also has short episodes but it's not all of them tho.
Anyway, read and comment, criticism allowed too, point out any grammatical errors you see as usual.

3 YEARS AGO.
"I'm telling you Rose, I'm going to end up beating that girl one day"
I laugh out loud.
"It's not funny" She says glaring at me.
"Don't worry girlfriend, the day you beat her up, I'll cheer you up from a far distance"
"Traitor"
"Hey, not everyone can fight"
We got home and entered our two bedroom apartment , I take off my clothes as soon as we enter and Melissa does the same as we continue our conversation.
"I just pray I don't kill her one day"
"Everyone knows Kate is a flirt, she flirts with every guy that she sets her eyes on, just tell Felix to be careful with her"
"I have. Gosh, I just wish he gets a new job or that girl gets fired from that office"
"Mel" I shout.
"What? Did I say anything wrong? You should have seen the skirt she wore today, so short and tight and she kept bending down, she was not even bothered that I was with Felix"
"As I have said earlier, you just have to talk to your boyfriend, he has to be very careful."
"Alright, I will"
"Will you eat noodles? "
"Sure"
I entered the kitchen and start cooking.
Mel asks I fondly call her has been dating Felix ever since our school days and I envy them.
I just wish I get someone to love me just like that.
Sometimes I think I'm cursed or something.
"Rose, the food is burning"
That brought me out of my thoughts.
"Oh my God"
I quickly turn off the gas cooker.
"We can still get something to eat out of it." I say checking the pot.
"You are such a horrible cook"
"I just got lost in my thoughts" I reply pouting.
"What were you thinking about?"
I just shrug.
I served the food and we went to my room to eat.
"You will find someone to love you Rose. There's someone out there for you"
"Yeah but where is he?"
"You will find him soon"
I sigh in response.

I look at myself in the mirror staring at my face.
Maybe I'm not beautiful enough.
Maybe I'm not tall enough.
Maybe I'm not charismatic enough.
I feel so lonely.
The sense of loneliness overwhelming me.
I want someone that I can call mine.
Someone that I will talk to in the morning and at night before I sleep.
I want someone to cuddle with.
I want a family.
I'm so desperate for one.
"Rose"
"Huh?"
"Let's go Rose, you are getting late"
"Yeah"
I carry my bag and we rush out.
We both went our separate ways at the bus stop.
Melissa works in a law firm.
I'm a graphic designer.
"Hello Rose"
"Hi baby"
I greet my partner in the office.
"You are late today"
"I just got caught up in something"
"We need to work on the finishing touches on the design for the advertisement so we'll submit today"
"Yeah.. Come on, let's work "
We work for almost 3 hours and by lunch time we are done.

I was eating my lunch alone when I look towards the door just as a guy came in.
I could not help but stare.
He is so handsome.
He moved to the counter to order for his food and I followed his every move.
And then he turned towards my direction with a tray in his hands and start coming close.
Just like in a movie, I see him walking in slow motion towards me.
He drew near to my direction and I stand up slowly with a stupid smile on my face but he didn't reach me.
He sat on another table.
That brought me back to reality.
I quickly pack my things and run out.
That was embarrassing.

"Seriously? Wow" Mel screamed in my ears, I had to move the phone from my ear.
"You seem more excited than I am"
"Of course, my friend is in love"
I roll my eyes.
"I only told you I met a guy and now you are saying I'm in love"

"Rose, the boss will be here in a minute"
My office partner interrupted my conversation.
"We'll talk at home Mel"
"Of course, I need details, full details, you must not leave out anything, alright?"
"Whatever. Bye"
As soon as I hang up the door opened and my boss stepped in.
"Hello sir'
We greet him, both of us on our feet.
I notice someone behind him.
"Hello... Mark, these are my designers" My boss says.
The guy stepped forward.
Well, you guessed right.
It's him, the guy from the restaurant.
I stand there gawking at him again.
"Hello" He greets us and then look towards me.
"Oh.. It's you" He says with a smile.

"Yes, you" Mark says
"You know her?" my boss asks him.
"Yes. She's the lady that ran out of the restaurant."
Everyone in the room looked confused except me, I'm embarrassed.
"You looked cute actually" Mark says with a smile.
Will you stop smiling please?
It's not good for my heart.
We both continue staring at each other.
My boss cleared his throat.
I look down embarrassed.
"Anyway, this is Mark, he is a friend of mine. He is new in town "
"Hi, I'm Kate" my partner introduced herself.
Mark smiled at her in response.
"Uhm.. I.. I'm Rose" I manage to say.
"It's a beautiful name"
Okay, this guy should stop this.
"Alright, let's go Mark, I still have more to show you"
They both leave the office but not without Mark looking at me.
"Wow.. What's that about?" Kate says.
I pretended not to hear and changed the topic.
"Let's print out the design and submit"

"This is epic.. That much happened today?" Mel asked me after I told her everything, not leaving out a single detail.
I just nod my head.
"Maybe he feels the same way"
I just laugh.
"You think this is a movie or a romance novel? There's nothing like love at first sight, besides he just came for a visit so I might not see him again"
"Anyway, if he is the one for you, he will come back"
"Mel Mel, always the optimist"
"Someone has to be"
Her phone rings and she has the sheepish smile on her face when she checked the screen.
"I bet that's Felix"
"Uh, yes"
"And then I'm out..."
I leave the sitting room in a hurry because I don't want to hear there conversation.
They make me so jealous.

I was just getting out of the office going to the bus stop when a car horned at me repeatedly.
I stopped and looked inside when the window rolled down.
"Hello beautiful"
"Mr. Mark" I exclaim, surprised.
"It's Mark. Where are you off to?"
"Home"
"Where's home?"
"Close to Greenpark"
"Sorry, I don't know where that is"
"Oh right, you are new in town"
"Get in, I'll drop you off. "
"But it might not be in the direction you are going to"
"Doesn't matter. I'll go wherever you want"
"But..."
"Just get in"
I get in the car and he drives off.
"I'm glad I saw you today"
"Uh, why? "
"I've just been wanting to see you"
That brought a smile on my face but I try to wipe it off my face.
"Uh, why?"
"You just seem like someone I can relate with"
"Oh okay"
"Turn to the right please."
"That's my house, the one painted in peach"
"Okay"
We arrive at my house.
"Wow, your house is nice"
"Thank you"
It became awkward for some minutes.
"Do you want to come in?"
"No, I have to get back to Fred, he'll be worried"
Fred is my boss's name.
"Okay then"
I open the door.
"Can I have your number?"
"What?" I ask stupidly.

"Why?"
"Well.. I need your help, I want to move to my own apartment and I need a lady's advice, you know, the interior decoration and all"
"You are moving here?"
"Yes.. I got transferred here"
"Oh, okay. Your phone"
He gives me the phone and I type in my number.

Hearing my name from his lips made my heart skip a beat.

I step out immediately.
As soon as I enter, I breathe out, not knowing I've been holding my breath.

After hours of working, we finally finished setting up Mark's house.
The interior decoration colors are peach, chocolate and cream with a little touch of wine here and there.
"Thanks for helping me out today Rose"
"It's a pleasure sir"
"Oh please, drop the Sir, it's Mark to you"
"Okay.. It's a pleasure Mark" I say shyly.
God I'm acting like a teenager.
"You are so cute" he says with a chuckle.
"I'm sure you are hungry.. Let's go out and eat"
"Uhm.. It's alright, I can eat at home"
"Nope.. I want to take you out to eat"
That brought a smile to my face.
"If you insist"
We leave his house and he drove us to a restaurant nearby.
"Wow.. This place is nice.. I'm sure there food here will be expensive"
"It will be worth it" He says and winked at me.
This guy will kill me I swear.
We both enter and sit at a table in a corner.
A waiter comes immediately and gives us the menu.
I gasp as I see the prices.
"I knew it. These prices are ridiculous.. Let's go somewhere else" I say.
"Stop Rose.. Let me spoil you a little, just relax alright?" He says with a smile.
Who can resist that smile?
"O.. Okay"
He grins widely at me.
"Are you ready to order sir, ma'am?"
The waiter says smiling weirdly at me.
"Yes we will when you get that stupid smile off your face"
"Sir?"
"You heard me" Mark says, anger radiating from him, he looks scary, sort of.
The waiter leaves after Mark orders for both of us and we just sit there in silence.
About 5 minutes later..
"Here is your order"
The waiter says and smiles at me when he placed my food in front me.
"If you don't stop staring at her I'll break your jaw" Mark growls.
"S..sorry"
The waiter practically scurried from our table with Mark glaring at him.
"Mark" he turned to me and smiled, like nothing just happened.
"Sorry.. I just got jealous." He winks at me again.
My heart skips at the thought of him jealous because of me but he was really scary.

Mark dropped me off and pecked my cheek before he left.
"Well well, someone's happy" Mel says.
I roll my eyes
"Stop it"
"So how did your day go?"
I explained everything to Mel.
"He seems possessive"
"Isn't that hot?" I say dreamily.
"It is but don't you think it's too soon, I mean you guys just met not too long ago."
"Does it matter? Besides, you are the the one who believes in love at first sight"
"Uhm.. Just be careful OK?"
"Nothing is wrong Mel. You should be happy for me".

My phone beeped..
I opened my message.

We are at the amusement park close to my apartment for some privacy.
"Why didn't you tell me you were traveling?"
"Oh" He scratches his hair.
"It was an emergency. Work emergency"
