I laugh sometimes when people argue over things they have little knowledge of. Statistics can give you figure but it sure needs interpretation. Most of the ugu vegetable sold in Lagos are grown by people from SS and SE region in OGUN state. I have a 5 hectre land of plantain in OGUN state and 6 acres of cassava same place. Statistics will cover my production regardless of where I am from. Fadama project is in the north as well as the SW. do we have that in SE and SS? |

Stkilda:Well talking about hate, check the mirror, what you sow is what you reap, you can't keep hating people and be asking for love. Honestly we will celebrate when you leave and pick everything along including your pin...We need less hating, and we need less populated cities and less pressure and our lands and resources. The last line, who Polish your shoe? and which House you get? come tell me...Oh! Are you believing the propaganda, I don't know about any other states/cities, but in Lagos where I'm based, you guys don't own up to 10% of properties, everywhere you turn, Yoruba own their properties. How many Igbo Landlords have you heard of in Lagos. 9 Likes 1 Share |

rigarmortis:You mean Abia and Imo produced oil? As in they cultivated it? That there are traces of oil deposit (less than 1.7%) doesn't mean they cultivated it. What I know Anambra works for in the area of production is ugwu, what you should have asked is that did they forward the proceeds of this ugwu to federation acc? Iporks are senseless. 3 Likes |

1. Stats were compiled by a Yoruba man named Abiodun Sule, and we know what Afonjas stand for. 2. This is an old stat, compiled in 2015, taking cognizance of productions from from 2009-2014. 1 Like |

Sanchez01:Is this really a joke or what? if anybody needs praising it's the Niger Delta that provided over 90% of the nation's income and not the north that produces agricultural product that adds little or nothing to our income. We buy these food items that the north produces, t's not like they give it to us for free. 2 Likes |

The information were compiled and measured base on each state of the federation or by region production. O, it's 2009-2014, well none has denied that, so why not provide the latest one Lmao 6 Likes |

Keep producing useless stats and keep rejoicing. The Igbo man knows better, and that's why he would always insist on Biafra. No amount of reverse psychology will work. 1 Like |

aribisala0:I'll indulge your madness since you're very cheeky. Apparently, you're dense. So your excuse for failures on the part of the SE to cultivate rice or farm is because of land mass? When we ask you guys to get education, you stop at J.S.S. 3 and hop onto night buses to Lagos. How big is Denmark as a country that it has become known all over the world for its agricultural strength? The United States is 228 times bigger than Denmark, yet, the latter rakes in €14.6b worth of food and farm produce annually, accounting for 3.4% of the world market food. This is a country with just 42,931 km² of landmass. So what again is the excuse of the SE for failing here again? What do you mean by 'there is no land at home'? Do yourself a huge favour and ask questions about the vast wastelands in Nkanu West, Oji River and Awgu in Enugu State. I believe you're keeping them for the dead? I'll put you out of your misery real quick... The SE is specially lazy when it comes to farming, and most importantly, it is a rare sight to see anyone practice commercial agriculture in the South East because the practice is quite alien to them. How many states of the SE can Ebonyi rice feed comfortably? What other states in the East are truly cultivating rice and other agricultural produce on a large scale? Now don't you dare mention Obiano's Ugwu scam because we know the truth in the end. Yes, Oyo is incredibly big but how much of its land mass is put to use, compared to the parts lying dormant? There are far smaller countries in the world with good agricultural strength. Hiding under the canopy of landmass is nothing but an act of idiocy but then again, you didn't research because you were never really sound to do so. Should the SE be given the entire 19 states of the North today, you people would still leave the region in drove like you're being chased by an unseen force. 5 Likes 1 Share |

AbakalikiPress:But the ''yoot'' from that region are famous in drug trafficking. Since time immemorial they have being in the business of developing the world by distributing contraband drugs. It's not wonder any more that the stomach of a ''yoot'' from that region can store over 1million tons of cannabis and 1billion tons of cocaine for as long as they could be spared by life. On a serious note, every southyeast yoot is a potential drug trafficker. Arm robbery and kidnapping are now relegated businesses amongst them. That's why Evans must be released unconditionally. 4 Likes |

Afam4eva:No it isn't a joke. To you oil plays a more pivotal role to our nation building just because it oozes from the ground 'for free'? A friend who works with the Associated Press sent me a rare footage of the civil war just yesterday. A 16 minutes video which I'm planning to share tomorrow and I realised that the Igbos were beaten to submission because FOOD supply was cut off. Interestingly, people had their monies with them but couldn't buy a thing because food wasn't in circulation. Long before the discovery of oil in Nigeria, the country relied on the SW's cocoa, the Mid-West's rubber and palm oil, just as the Old Eastern region, and most importantly, the agricultural produce from the North. The Late Nnamdi Azikiwe wooed them to no end and insisted the country needs the North desperately. Was he wrong? Hell no! My people took great pride in farming before the discovery of oil in Delta. We lost so many lands because oils would flow out from the soil when tilled. My own family lost a whole lot of oil palm lands to crude flow. The truth is Nigeria fared during the golden agricultural days, and that Nigeria is what it is today is because of oil. Not a single oil producing country in the world today operate a mono economy because everyone understands that agriculture is the major way out. So what if the FG return the golden goose eggs but food is unavailable? Would we drink the oil? Indeed, yes, the oil somehow serves the country, but does it really serve you and I? Oil is not a necessity, not in the least of ways. 5 Likes 1 Share |

nextprince:even the devil will shout foul at the hypocrisy of some of you Yoruba folks. you are are quick to remind us, that only oyo state would swallow the southeast (someone claimed oyo is x10 the SE yesterday) , you guys would have an onlooker believe that the south east is erosion and flood ravaged. the south west has an estimated total landmass of 78000 and produced 16%,the south east is approximately 28000 (less than half) and produced 9%-pls, intellectuals in the house should do the sum and tell us which region was more effective and efficient. according to the 2006 census, the SS and the SW (by a wide margin) is bigger than the SE east. when you peeps analyze this data(like the highly educated people, you guys are quick to remind us that your tribe is) you westerners would realise that una do well bad |

Sanchez01:I'm not in any way downplaying the importance of Agriculture. I'm only concerned that you think just because the north produce most of what we eat, that they are some our greatest asset without baring the fact that agriculture adds very little or nothing to our income as a country. The Agriculture in the north is mostly beneficial to the people who own those products and are selling it to us. Getting people to sell agricultural products has never been a problem. The day the north stops providing it, cameroon or any other country that wants to make money will do so. It's all for profit. Nothing in the south has been built as a result of the agricultural strides of the north. It has only benefited them. Until Agriculture is included in the exclusive list, i don't think anyone should be going about talking as if the north is doing us a favour. If there's anything that can thump the oil been provided by the Niger Delta it is the human capital that the south as a whole possess. 2 Likes |
