Government institutions like courts, police stations, etc should not be built by an individual. They can donate hostels, libraries, etc within the complex. He who pays the piper determines the tune. Taxpayers' money should be at work in such institutions to avoid bias, nepotism and injustices. Government sets and administers public policies and should not be seen to be under the control of an unelected private citizen. The confidence of the citizens in the government public institutions should not be mortgaged on the altar of philanthropy. If the donor in sued in the court, will justice be served?

An individual can build factories, industries, hospitals, etc to help a community. I don't understand why people like to think from the other end of the anatomy.

But there is no law barring private individuals partnering with the govt in building court houses. From the article, it was clear that the Dr, Anambra state govt and the state judiciary were informed about the project, and even gave the necessary approvals.

It's the unfounded ego of the state chief judge that is the problem. If he had issues with the project, he could have sought to stop it during construction or before construction started.
Someone's hard-earned money cannot just go to waste like that. It's inhumane.
