Man kills wife, relative over alleged adultery



A man, Karimu Raifu, 55, was arraigned at an Osogbo magistrate’s court for allegedly killing his wife, Funmilola Raifu, over purported adultery, on Thursday.

Raifu was also accused of killing his relative, Muibat Oyeniran, in Oke-Otubu area of Modakeke, Osun State , in December, 2009.

It was gathered that Raifu, after killing Oyeniran, went on a ‘spiritual retreat’ before coming back to kill his wife.

The two-count charge alleged that Raifu inflicted grievous bodily harm on his wife with a machete on December 8, 2010 .

It stated that the offence was contradictory to section 319 of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, volume 11, Laws of Osun State of Nigeria , 2003.

No counsel appeared for the suspect even as Sergeant Oladoye Joshua represented the state.

The Magistrate, Mr Olalekan Ijiyode, adjourned the case till February 27, 2010 .

Now he can sleep peacefully

The man is a killer. He murdered 2 people and went on vacation.

That is really sad, hope they could sentence him to death

He will not get a death sentence in America because the crime was not premeditated. Only the first person he murdered may take him to the electric chair. His wife cheated on him for God's sake. The court will put that into consideration.
