Phcn Cable Kills Over 50 People In Port Harcourt by mansmith(m): 3:28pm On Feb 14, 2010
Tragedy struck in slaughter(Trans Amadi) area of Port Harcourt when in the early hours of Saturday 13th Feb 2010 during a rain storm PHCN cable fell on 2 buses and electrocuted occupants of the buses and many other by standers on the flooded ground.
During the course of the rain, the wind fell down a branch of the tree under the PHCN cable. The cable fell on two Nissan URVAN old model bus loading the said time.
Eye withness put the number of dead at 68 while the official number according to the police is 10.The sight is indeed horrible.when i got there at about 10.30am yesterday the dead has been removed but the two buses were still at the scene .the tyre of one buses wea burnt while the other had a slight burnt roof.boys selling pure water were equally affected as you can see their pure water sales cans were on the ground when i went there
