Wedding apparel is significantly different from those of other occasions so when the man in the parable entered the wedding avenue, he was dressed inappropriately, vis clothes unsuitable for a wedding. He stood out negatively, and of course this prompted the king to have him tossed out by the scruff of his neck.
that verse is a parable and has to do with the wedding garments of the saints that have been called to the marriage of the Lamb.
Are your own garments ready?

Matthew 13:13 came hitting home:

You tried anyway. You don't understand it well!

That parrable mean the gathering of those who love Him alike, those who are called according to His purpose, those who are righteous alike, those who are holy alike. Those who are His saints! These are those to whom the parable refers to not ASO-EBI! And when there was a sinner in their mist, the Master commanded His servants "throw this man into outer darkness where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth...!"

For, hearing, they would not hear nor understand ... this was why he spoke in PARRABLE!

Can you see...?

Thanks.

In recent times, the main purpose of the Aso ebi uniform is to serve as a means of identification with a group of people like, brides family or friends during any special occasion most especially wedding ceremonies. Ankara and lace are the most often used asoebi clothes for weddings. The word Aso Ebi originated from the Yoruba tribe of Nigeria but now practiced by other African countries where they are also called Asoebi. Literally Aso Ebi is derived from two words Aso meaning cloth and Ebi meaning family. So Aso ebi simply means Family cloth or uniform

The Aso Ebi does not only make one identify with their group but also makes the occasion colorful and can be a measure to check uninvited guests. In this particular parable of the banquet found in Matt 22:8-13 Jesus identified someone that gatecrashed into a wedding event without an Asoebi or wedding clothes/uniform identity. The invitation had been made, guests were already sited when this happened...

"But when the king came in to see the guests, he spotted a man who was not dressed in wedding clothes. ‘Friend,’ he asked, ‘how did you get in here without wedding clothes?’ But the man was speechless.

Then the king told the servants, ‘Tie him hand and foot and throw him outside into the outer darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth."
Matthew 22:11-13

Note that the culprit is not the bride, groom or maids but a guest. We all know that when guests wear a particular uniform in which they are identified with in a wedding, it is called asoebi.

I recently read of churches banning the use of asoebi, well the reason is somehow justifiable as Pastor Folu Adeboye noted that it is causing segregation in the church and those who can not afford it are often exempt from events. This is understandable since love should guide all our rules. But as for whether it is scriptural, we can see that it is-it didn’t originate from the world

You're absolutely right that the parable was about something else.

The crux of the story is about the garment or clothe of righteousness.

Any found appearing at the wedding of the Groom with His bride; the church, without wearing an appropriate wedding garment will be hand tied and thrown out

So i need to make a uniform before i will attend any wedding? Why do some Nigerians like to put problems on their heads, Must we gather crowd in our wedding. I think Morning Mass Can solve the issue or Just call a man of God to come down to your house and bless your marriage. You can simply go inside your church pray and get your blessings and walk out of the church.

Parable is an earthly story with a heavily meaning. Jesus was talking about those who are claim to be with him but he doesn't know them among his people. Has someone ever been tied and thrown because he didn't asoebi for a wedding? Most churches don't encourage asoebi, because it has any biblical backing.
Re: Is This Where Jesus Endorsed Asoebi In The Bible? by pressplay411(m): 12:06pm On Aug 20, 2017
It's definitely not scriptural. But OP I see what you tried to do there.
My question is, does it mean that anything that was not done by Christians in the Bible is considered a sin?
Cos last I checked everything we do in this modern day world must be sinful. Internet, TV, Tele-evangelism, Cars, Planes, Sharwarma, Art, Nursing, Engineering, IT, Pastors collecting tithes and flying jets, etc. In fact everyone should be fishermen, carpenters and evangelists right?

Let me enlighten you little sis...

Afonja is the name of an old Yoruba warrior in time past...so u have not really abused the Yoruba by calling them Afonja...in fact, you have actually eulogized one of their own...even though you meant the negative...

it is like calling the Yoruba's Awolowo or Abiola or Soyinka etc...or Calling the Hausas tafawa Balewa, etc..

But it is different when we call the Igbo Jewish slaves (I wonder if amadioha is a Jew), Igbos, drug dealers isi ewu...

So you see your life...

It only means in a gathering of the saints sinners are not allowed, it is a parable. The cloth stands for salvation.

Op IMO you are trying to twist scripture to defend carnality. Of what concern is aso-ebi that it is compared with a parable that talks about the kingdom of God? To me, aso-ebi is not a bad thing on its own. What i found repulsive about it is the way people decide to make a big deal about it & the way some people decide to use it to extort money from their family members & guests. Some emotionally blackmail friends & family members to purchase the material no matter how heavily priced it is without considering whether those people want to buy or can afford it. If that individual puts his/her foot down, the person selling most likely bears a grudge against that person & makes a mental note not to purchase aso-ebi when that person celebrates an occasion. People give preferential treatment to people who buy aso-ebi in the banquet hall. Seats are sometimes reserved for them. Sometimes, people who don't buy aso-ebi might not get food or souvenirs. How is that glorifying God? Jesus spoke in parables to pass across messages about the kingdom of heaven. The wedding feast is everlasting life which begins with acceptance of Jesus Christ as Lord & saviour. The initial people invited were the jews, who rejected & crucified Jesus. God then invited we the gentiles to partake in salvation & eternal life. However, we need to do as St paul instructed in Ephesians 4:22-24. We need to put off the former man (the corrupt adamic nature & all that pertains to it) & put on the new man (nature of christ). That was why that fellow was cast into the darkness where there was weeping & gnashing of teeth (hell fire). So take the substance & don't chase shadows. Finally remember 1 Corinthians 10:23. All things are lawful but all things are not expedient & edit ying. Remember that we are engaged in a marathon race to heaven & we have to cast all weights & distractions to run a good race. Shalom.
