supersystemsng: Obviously, you dont know what you are talking about or rather you have lost touch with whats going on in this field. Going by what you stated here, 300, 000 chicks with 7.5 million is absolute nonsense. How much do you think a chick cost? how much do either rent or buy pen houses? what about feeding cost which is very high these days. The guy is on the right track and he needs encouragement. I hate it when I see folks ascribing what they are not to themselves and spewing rubbish. Do you even think it's easy to float a business of that amount in this present economy and yet all you can do is to state things that are not grounded with facts. Guy, quote me any time, it is not possible for you to raise 12,000 point of lay with 7.5 million not to talk of the 300,000 birds as you have stated. 15 Likes |

Gbabe2: I'm not discouraging anyone...it's an open forum for discuss... you can't raise 300,000 on 7.5M true, i simply used an analogy to quote my point... |

Gbabe2:don't mind him jare... 7.5m can never raise a 300,000 birds! Never! like he said, he's a consultant, I bet he's not an Animal Scientist, neither did he ever venture into Layer birds Egg production. 3 Likes |

Gbabe2:7.5m is not too much for 3500 birds....... 2m can't bring up 1k birds to laying point if you have to get a space from the money ..........cost of poultry, even if you compound your feed 1 Like |

Wow, this is wonderful! I still think you can save a lot with feed production for this magnitude of investment. I think you should learn how to, after all, the feeds you buy are produced from somewhere |
Re: My Egg Poultry Farming Experience As A New Farmer by lammie21(m): 4:22pm On Aug 28, 2017 |
benardj3:you are spot on bro... I used close to 1.8m to construct a Layer Pen that could accommodate up to 2,000 layer birds including battery cage water nipple system...then bought 1,000 point of cage pullets at the rate of 900naira per one. Mind you bro, that was even before economic recession started. what about now that price of materials has increased. Poultry, especially Layer birds is very risky. I wish OP all the best...I've learnt my lessons tho. 4 Likes

I went through the post and I think the major cost is that for birds which is about 5M out of the 7.smth and the other major one is for feeding, People suggesting to Purchase DOC which OP would have had to wait for over 6 months to see first production. I guess he is trying to see returns more quickly and remember he can sell the birds as old layers between 1k5- 2000 ( I don't live in Lagos) which should return the 7M back assuming minimum casualties. 6 Likes |

World People :- He wasted too much cash on this. Okay, yes he did. What's the way forward? Should he continue this way or he should sell the birds, get back his capital and start again on a smaller scale? Is an expert willing to put him through if he does that? If not then leave him be, he's an adult. If you think he made a mistake/was not properly advised send him a mail and proffer solutions stop making him feel less of a man in Public. Ya'll didn't ask him before he showed you all these. Well Done OP, I wish you all the best. 24 Likes 1 Share |

Every business is risky, based on your level of education on such business. I (personally) don't fancy poultry but I must say I am impressed with the write ups, pictures data collection and the entire project presention as presented here by the OP. I want you to know that I sent this link to my friend to encourage him in this poultry business path, as he was a bit discouraged citing rain, weather and all sorts. God bless you sir and make this business profitable and a great success. As for the yeye consultant that wants to raise 300,000 birds with 7.5mill I wish you success. Its a shame when fellow Nigerians thrive on pulling down one another, if you don't have anything positive to say, because of all the negativity in you, why not skip to the next topic. You wonder what kind of life some live, its a disaster! Here I read some say he could have played pool or lotto, he could have done this or that. Sure he could have but he didn't, instead he did what he thought was best in a fine way I must say, and not only that he came here and showed us all. Some can't even account for their breakfast expense this morning, yet the hide behind a screen with the pull down syndrome. Check yourselves and Change! If the foundation is faulty, you have a disaster waiting to happen in your hands. Op, great respect for you. Thank you for sharing and God bless. strangeland: 17 Likes |

Gbabe2: God bless you for this comment. I have been waiting for someone to speak on it. 300,000? That guy definitely doesn't know what he is talking about. Even if you buy Day Old Chicks for 100 naira each, 300,000 chicks will cost 30 million Naira...and we haven't spoken about feeding, housing, and other costs. 3 Likes |

supersystemsng: Bro poultry is lucrative if you can practice proper hygiene and you're readily available to monitor what goes on in the farm, else those farm attendants will kill one with lies of cracked eggs, etc. Op please and please monitor your sales yourself and always be available on the farm because this investment is huge. God bless you. 3 Likes |
