YEah but you will agree with me that at about $50million dollar per piece, that's an immoral and diabolic rip-off. And I wouldn't want to believe it's the Nigerian Air force inflating the prices (for the usual sinister purposes); this particular transaction has been reported in even foreign media.

I agree with you about the cost (even though I don't have the details about the rockets and bombs that came with the deal), but I also blame the Nigerian Government and NAF.

Like I said earlier, the US Government has had a programme to acquire light attack aircrafts for counter-insurgency operations for a long time, but unlike the Nigerian Government the US Government went about it via a bidding process. Six companies have been competing for that contract and I bet that the US will buy theirs at a much cheaper price than we did.

The Nigerian Government has been single mindedly chasing these planes since 2014/2015 in a way that made it seem like we are desperate. Meanwhile there are other cheaper ground attack turboprop aircrafts (particularly from Eastern Europe).

What Nigeria needs is not weapons we need leaders who can think, leaders who are selfless, leaders who can share in the pain of the masses, we need technological advancements, we need a composed system of government, we need a country where even a mad man obey the laws governing the nation. With that boko haram who have no place to stay.. Nonetheless, getting weapons to fight them is not totally bad
While the leader will be there sharing the pains, discussing technological advancement etc,our borders and national security should be left to the dogs like KANU and co abi? No,a country have to get ride of all this anti developmental forces such as bokoharam, Igbos, avengers,Fulani herdsmen etc,for a country to move in the right direction some people have to be accommodated in prison as it was the case between obj and asari.

What just happened, is a welcome development.

Waste of money... these are aircraft that are made for air shows or training not to fight bad guys.

This aircraft cannot be used to even defend Nigeria against foreign elements.

People are happy that FG spent 181B in buying equipment to kill people. When this money can be used to spur the economy into production.
Think of what 181 Billion will do for Nigeria.
Instead of spending this kind of money to squash people, call them on the table and dialogue with them. You will find out that you a=only bought drinks and snacks, and yet you will get positive results.
The reason dialogues do not work in Nigeria is because the motivation is to silent the people and allow government to continue with their usual practice. If the objectives is to create a positive result that will calm the people, it will definitely produce good results.
FG stop wasting money and sending the country into deep debt they cannot pay.
Mr. Man, you're saying rubbish here. It's only a secured environment that is viable for economic prosperity. When the environment is not secured no reasonable investor would want to invest in it. Just like where you're living right away, if there is any security breached, what economic impact would happen there? I presumed, you will first find safety for yourself and family members.
Taking for example again, you know how many times the FG have asked Boko Haram to down tools and get amnesty and they replied, it's FG that needs amnesty and not them and since then they've been growing more than expected. Now, do you expect the FG to fold their arms until they spread across every region borders? The issue of terrorism is a case that can be won with mere AK 47 or ordinary ammunition. Check terrorism act all over the world, no country have able to win them successful.
All these equipment were to be bought years back to fight them but they could not get and all were blocked because of negative respective they had about Nigeria then. Now that we have opportunity to get them, you're saying what matter to you and forgeting that some people also need full secured environment in another place. Guns or military wares are not meant for law abiding people but lawlessness people and you need to see it that way.
Economy may be bad, all you need to ask the FG is to tell them, as they are spending huge on arms and ammunition, they should also be spending huge to improve the economy.

some of those Nigerian illiterate like fratermathy them don't even know what the Tucano A-29 is nor how it looks like.
all they know is that Trump sold a world war - 1 resurrected War plane
to Nigeria
Nigeria has been turn into a dumping ground.
& that's the mediocre that they are celebrating

The Tucano is definitely no WW1 plane. It is actually a modern combat aircraft ideal for counter insurgency operations.

They could have thrown in 5 A10 for that sort of money.

How much is a single super turcano that 12 cost $500m. That is a rip off.

We could have bought 20 su25 or JF17 for that sort of money plus maintenance and training

Would you guarantee that terrorism will stop with the amount spent? If you cannot guarantee, then why approve the expense?
It is just like owing a company and your manager wants to embark on a project that will not yield change you desire. This is 181B to be spent or already spent. I am not saying they should not, but understand that there are other ways to know the root of BokoHaram insurgency in Nigeria. until it is determined, it wont stop. Do you think some people do not know the root of this crime? Would you ever imagine that Nigeria does not know the source of the group? Not possible. Is there any crime perpetuated in Nigeria the govt does not know the root? Think about it.
