Anybody threatening secession without the connivance of the Southern Soldiers within the army is just fooling himself.

I can hear the drum sound, a sound that reminds us to prepare for the day has come, what Chukwuemeka Odumegu Ojukwu said is becoming, let no man say he was not told, Nigeria is indeed sitting on a keg of gun powder, ready to explode at any time, the more they play games, the more we approach, it will not be too long then the least expected will happen, ALL HAIL BIAFRA! Land of the rising sun.

Nigeria isnt holding anyone back.
The so called north only does to the south what souterners let them do. When you ahve southerners supporting the north on issues like this, then the north feels they have the souths approval.

Until there are NO southerners bending - The north will do what it wants because they dont make decisions without the opinion of atleast some southern leaders.

Northern senators accuse S/South colleagues of frustrating hand over to Jonathan

“What is happening now is a complete mess; tomorrow, we are going to let the whole world know that some senators from the South South are frustrating moves to hand over to Jonathan”. He said “what we learnt is that two governors from the South South are vehemently opposed to Jonathan taking over, in addition to a former governor from the zone who is also against the hand over but we must resolve this tomorrow”.

All this talk of secession presupposes that these regions are sustainable as independent economic entities, when the reality is, these regions would be worse off. Nigeria is wealthy -- what remains is to find a leader that lets all Nigerians share in that wealth.

Are you saying the region that sustains the whole country isn't economically viable? shocked

@Post

What a bunch of pan-handlers. Good number of these hoard of idiots should have been cut to size for political treachery. These fools could whine to high heaven even God would not pay attention to them because one can not eat one’s cake and still have it.

A note of warning should be delivered to those goons that any attempt to even dream of their weird fantasy of breaking way from One Nigeria will be met with the most severe military action that will make the battles of Bulge look like a child’s play.

There are many names on this articles that can induce suicidal spree in me. These bunches of cock suckers should be praying seriously for their well being and that of their offspring because any spiral of arms in the colonial contraption will definitely spelt doom.

Yes -- look at the history (and the current state!) of other single-commodity based economies, and in particular those based on oil. Their fortunes hinge almost entirely on the rise and fall of the world economy. If the South left, would it -- as an independent state -- survive the next economic downturn? More developed countries are not doing well in this climate, but could this region take such a hit on its own?
