Please, answer these questions;

- Does Kanu and Nigerians as a whole have freedom of speech?

It's obvious they have.
- If I say, "I hate Nigeria and hope it burns down" or I say "buhari and his family will die". Should I be arrested?
I don't know. But I won't be caught saying things like that to Kanu or anyone else.
- Did Kanu kill anyone?
He has encouraged his followers to do that and they've obeyed. Three people were reported dead in Rivers and many are taking refuge in security formations
- Did Kanu arm his followers?
I don't know, but it's possible. His seeking of arms and the BSS he formed point to that.
- Did Kanu riot?
- Did Kanu physically attack anyone?
- Did Kanu steal anyone's property?
- Is agitation a crime?

Agitation is a crime in the manner Kanu is doing it.
- Is protest a crime? Sometimes it is.
[quote] - Is a peaceful protest a crime?
It is not if it is done within the law.
- Was the army invasion of Kanu's home, appropriate? Depends on what intelligence they're working on.
[quote] - Was the army right in shooting at Kanu's home for more than 30mins?
Is it true that they pelted the Army with stones and all manner of missiles?

It did.
.
There'd be cause for concern if you come here and start saying things, like Kanu did that;
"Nigeria should prepare for war, we are coming to annihilate you, my secret service are already studying the zoo and strategising."
.
And when he said: "Nigeria is a zoo and everybody living in that Godforsaken zoo deserves to die," is it including his father?
.
If you've, even if once, told us he's a joke not to be taken serious, we'd probably thought he didn't mean all he was saying. We take him serious because his threats were influenced by hate.

if your govt can admit that ipob is using every ploy to provoke the govt to kill its members so that they can claim victims, doesn't it tell on you that the govt need same wisdom to avoid them while engaging them in ways that can legally halt them without ipob garnering any sympathy? u don't expect a separatist people to sing ur praises and call u beautiful names! that is why ur govt needed to prove them wrong.

if you ask me, buhari was poor and tactless with this puthon dance nonsense. if namdi kanu has failed his bail conditions, use d dss and pick him up! the fact that he used violent speeches to awake the fact that the political class has kept the country in bondage is one thing I believe is to our advantage. the army violating human rights of these caught ipob members doesnt send a gud message. neither does the atack of journalists in the state! the only area in Abia where the army can do their show of force is at Eze Kanus street? this shows that they had a hidden agenda, if u ask me! the S.E is peaceful. the death and manhandling of some hausas in the state is an after effect of this pyyhon dance! its effect is also being felt in jos and could move on to other states in the north! why do we like to blow things out of proportion?! no UN is going to come to anyone's aid, ask Myanmar and Syria! tribal divide isnot going away anytime soon so why nt restructure along those lines and give it a decade to know if it will propel us into development?! tecno fones have improved, kia vehicles have too even rat poison has why cant we do so as a nation?!
I understand the agitations of the S.E and the reason the S.W is quiet. the middle belt have started counting the costs of the new geopolitical zone as it doesnt favor their development!
anyways when a president calls a region 5% that didnt vote for him, I wonder how he will come to campaign in 2019.....jonathan, call him thief and looter all u will, still tried to buy over the northern voters with projects! isnt that what it is supposed to be about? pick out he gud of the previous administration and push them forward! not calling everythin by gej bad and in he long run revert to some of these policies. that is why the govt looks clueless and might lose steam in 2019 if care isnt taken,.
kanu is a troublemaker, yes bt he has got us thinking about new ways to dev naija and we really need to do so b4 there are 2 times the number of politicians than available positions
we talk as if kanu is the sole originator of hate speeches in nigeria! almost everyone is guilty of hate speeches in this country, at some point in time! when sanusi lamido opined that the yorubas r the problem of nigeria, nobody sent the military after him! if kanu's only offence is dishing out hate speeches at others, those aggrieved(be it the yorubas, the arewas, the govt or individuals ) should take him to court for defamation by slander and let him be prosecuted.

This crisis started the day Buhari was declared the winner of 2015 election. Opposition who were not satisfied with the outcome of the election sponsored SS militant and IPOB agitation to destabilize the country, the youths are now been used as porns in the hands of politicians. Let's remember Buhari will come and go and we have people representing us at the national assembly, we can always speak through them, if they are not effective we can call them back. The truth is every tribe in this country are oppressed, mind you we have just two groups in this country the politicians (rich) and the poor they don't care about us, it's only when some of them are left out in sharing formula that's when they remember they belong to a section of the country which they can allays use to cause problem. Ken Saro Wiwa have gone, Dele Giwa have gone, Abiola also lost his life, so many soldiers have been killed in this struggle, the question is; is it worth the blood of any Nigerian?

Imagine shehu's cheap argument. The activities of NK and his group is better of termed "strategy" than propaganda it is very very unfortunate that the armies could fall for such, making them seem like the viceous ones. Why would an armed soldier open live amunition on people simply because they threw stones and pabbles at them? what happened to rubber bullet? what of tear gas canisters? Yes i share thesame sentiment with u that kanu is simply hungry for simpathy- which is good for his group by theway, but for the nigerian army to fall into his cheap trap simply shows lack of training again for u to compare ipob activities with boko haram's is laughable. I know what the nigerian gov is waiting for is to hear and see ipob pick up arms but sorry it ain't happening, kanu and his team is too intelligent for that.

My brother I wasn't jazzed by anything o.
I cannot deny even till tomorrow that I sincerely believed that Muhammadu Buhari was the messiah Nigeria needed:a man of impeccable integrity that would fight corruption to a standstill, secure Nigeria.A detribalized Nigerian that would guarantee justice for all, give merit, competence their desired places in our affairs while also running an all inclusive government where everyone would have a sense of belonging. With all these proper governance principles, economic prosperity would likely follow, even if not immediately.
I make no apologies for my vote for him and I can't before God deny I didn't wholeheartedly believe in him.
The president Buhari I am seeing however is an exact opposite of the one I believed it and I would not use a different standard in judging him from those we used in judging Obasanjo,YarAdua,Jonathan and even with Nigeria's low standards, the man has been a massive disappointment, even in the integrity that was his main selling point.
my brother man,i like you! no homo! lol. u see, i could remember those days when i was still in the hostel during the electioneering period, how i argued among friends in favour of buhari even though i wasnt suppose to do that by default as a bayelsan. nonetheless,i did. and it was because of the flaws of jonathan and the promising look of pmb that made me do that-though i wasnt able to vote on d d-day. but as things r,i am disappointed in pmb. pmb had all d grace to turn d ship of dis nation to d promise land, but he failed. let it be known that the cause of his failure is not kanu's hate speeches(cos pmb's quote of ''i am for all,and not for anyone'' would have taken care of kanu if he had walked the talk);it is not corruption,as it is evident that he himself lacks integrity. and again,it is not insecurity that overwhelmed him,but that he has been the architect of insecurity himself: from his silence in d face of d herdsmen menace,to use of foul and undiplomatic utterances to actual criminal orders; and actual body language and odour that none could comprehend!

Make iPoB hear o! Soja no dey talk too much. Buhari's speech after his return from medical leave says a lot: It won't be under him that terrorists and criminals will test the collective resolve of Nigeria.
.
My dear citizens,

I am very grateful to God and to all Nigerians for their prayers. I am pleased to be back on home soil
among my brothers and sisters.
.
In the course of my stay in the United Kingdom, I have been kept in daily touch with events at home.
.
Nigerians are robust and lively in discussing their affairs, but I was distressed to notice that some of the comments, especially in the social media have crossed our national red lines by daring to question our collective existence as a nation. This is a step too far.
.
In 2003 after I joined partisan politics, the late Chief Emeka Ojukwu came and stayed as my guest in my hometown Daura. Over two days we discussed in great depth till late into the night and analyzed the problems of Nigeria. We both came to the conclusion that the country must remain one and united.
.
Nigeria’s unity is settled and not negotiable. We shall not allow irresponsible elements to start trouble and when things get bad they run away and saddle others with the responsibility of bringing back order, if necessary with their blood.
.
Every Nigerian has the right to live and pursue his business anywhere in Nigeria without let or hindrance.
I believe the very vast majority of Nigerians share this view.
.
This is not to deny that there are legitimate concerns. Every group has a grievance. But the beauty and attraction of a federation is that it allows different groups to air their grievances and work out a mode of co-existence.
.
The National Assembly and the National Council of State are the legitimate and appropriate bodies for national discourse.
.
The national consensus is that, it is better to live together than to live apart.
.
Furthermore, I am charging the Security Agencies not to let the successes achieved in the last 18 months be a sign to relax.
.
Terrorists and criminals must be fought and destroyed relentlessly so that the majority of us can live in
peace and safety.
.
Therefore we are going to reinforce and reinvigorate the fight not only against; elements of Boko Haram which are attempting a new series of attacks on soft targets, kidnappings, farmers versus herdsmen clashes, in addition to ethnic violence fuelled by political mischief makers.
.
We shall tackle them all.
.
Finally, dear Nigerians, our collective interest now is to eschew petty differences and come together to face
common challenges of; economic security, political evolution and integration as well as lasting peace among all Nigerians.
.
I remain resolutely committed to ensuring that these goals are achieved and maintained. I am so glad to be home.
.
Thank you and may God bless our dear Nation.

Shocking video allegedly shows Nigerian army abusing suspected IPOB members TGS Intelligence Consultants
The Nigerian army is investigating a video showing what appear to be troops torturing and murdering civilians accused of belonging to a separatist group.

The nearly three-minute-long video began circulating on social media earlier in September. It appears to show soldiers forcing a group of half-Unclad men to lie down on the ground, beating them with batons. They are then forced to lie in a river and drink dirty water.

Biafra 50 years on: The legacy of one of Africa's bloodiest warsREAD MORE

Pointing at what appears to be a corpse lying on the ground, the person recording the video is heard saying: "This one now, is dead".

The footage ends with images of the men lying in the water motionless. It is not clear what happened to them next and whether they are dead or alive.

The men were suspected of belonging to the Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) group, which calls for the independence of Biafran territories that were forcibly annexed to Nigeria during British colonisation. An Independent Republic of Biafra was declared in 1967 and re-annexed to Nigeria in 1970, after three years of civil war.

It is believed the footage was taken in Abia state, in Nigeria's south-east. IBTimes UK sources said the men were travelling to the residence of their leader, Nnamdi Kanu, when they were stopped by the military. Soldiers found the youths in possession of flags of the former Republic of Biafra.

Nnamdi Kanu's wife: Even if it takes 20 years, we will not allow witness secrecy trial READ MORE
The army's spokesperson, Brigadier General Sanni Usman, was not immediately available for a comment on the video.

However, he was quoted by local media as saying the army was aware of the footage and was investigating it.

"We are aware of certain video being circulated," he said, according to the Daily Post.

"We have gotten complaints of the said video, and have commenced an investigation into the matter and the report would be made public. The General Officer Commanding 82 Division, Major General Adamu Abubakar, is investigating it and whatever it is, we will definitely let the public know about the outcome."

Rights group Amnesty International told IBTimes UK it is also investigating the video.

Allegations of violence
This is not the first time that Nigerian security forces have been accused of violence against of pro-Biafra secessionist groups, but authorities have always denied such allegations.

In March, Amnesty called on the governor of Anambra state in south-eastern Nigeria to investigate alleged killings of pro-Biafra secessionists that have occurred in recent years.

Pro-Biafra protest Abia state

Amnesty released reports alleging abuses against Ipob members, claiming security forces had killed at least 150 people "and injured hundreds more during peaceful assemblies" since August 2015.

The army denied the allegations, claiming it intervened to prevent "ethnic clashes" and accused Amnesty of trying to tarnish its image.
Independence calls have gained renewed momentum following Nnamdi Kanu's arrest in October 2015. Kanu, Ipob leader and director of UK-based Radio Biafra, is standing trial on treasonable felony charges and was released on bail earlier this year. The trial will resume in October.

The Nigerian government has always maintained the country's unity was a priority and that while peaceful pro-Biafran protests were welcome, demanding the breakaway of the Biafran territories went against the constitution.

Igbo people ordered to 'relocate' out of northern Nigeria: Is a new civil war brewing?READ MORE
Security analyst David Otto believes that, should investigations confirm that the men in the video were tortured by soldiers, it will be a strong sign that excessive violence might lead to radicalisation of youths, subjected to such treatments.

"The security services shown in this vile video have shown ineptitude in handling the Biafra agitators to a point where their action is acting as a radicalising tool to vulnerable and angry Igbo youths , creating the basis of ethnic and sectarian violence in Nigeria," he told IBTimes UK.

The majority of people inhabiting south-eastern Nigeria are Igbo, one of the country's largest ethnic groups. The Igbo people led the 1967 Biafran secession.

"The security forces must be called to order and the President [Muhammadu Buhari] has to intervene and address the Biafra agitation crisis in the south," said Otto.

"This is enough evidence that there is the urgent need of restructuring the security services training to take into account cruel actions that generate unintended consequences that may jeopardise national peace and stability."

They arranged a bail for him with conditions.
He spurned all the conditions and dared the government.

Ohaneze did not say anything, Abia State govt did not say anything, SE governors did not say anything, all Igbos abroad and the intellectuals who live in Abuja, PH, Lagos etc did not say anything.

However, as soon as he threatened the Anambra elections; Ohaneze said something, Anambra State govt said something, SE governors said something; because a pot of soup had been threatened.

They even called him to a meeting but he maintained his cocky stand.
He turned around in a bid to stay in the news and launched his security service (BSS) then ordered his supporters to burn down the country.

Ohaneze, Abia State, SE governors did not say anything; if at all, they backed him because according to them he was just expressing his rights.

Earlier, the then Ag. President called everyone to a meeting (good man) and tried to approach the matter with gumption.
After which you would have expected some caution from the other side; but no, they made the Ag. President (Prof. Osinbajo) look stupid; while Kanu continued his PDP/Igbo elite sponsored defiance.
Kanu not only carried on with his haughtiness, he disgraced the Police everywhere he went along with more hate speeches e.g:

"If you find anybody in your village asking for Radio Biafra kill the baboon Awusa Fulani or Yoruba bastard. Let them keep asking as we keep tweeting #Biafra"
"Buhari is a Terrorist he should be killed"
"Nigeria is a zoo and everybody living in that Godforsaken zoo deserves to die"
"The imbecilic Goodluck Jonathan is a disgrace to humanity and deserves to be skinned alive for handing over to an Hausa goat"
"We are assembling weapons and we need some more money to thoroughly equip our military to enable us unleash mayhem on Nigeria"
"No Igbo man should attend any Church where the pastor is a Yoruba man; they are criminals and fools"
"Nigeria should prepare for war, we are coming to annihilate you, my secret service are already studying the zoo and strategising"

But as soon as the military steps in, Ohaneze has commenced lecturing on Human rights, Abia State begins to speak up, all in support of IPOB and Kanu.

Nevertheless, the FG should realise that PDP/IPOB does not own Igboland and as such cannot where its allegiance lie.
